^ worth more than thousand words..
I'm using GO Task Manager and it showing only 697MB (total)... and most of the times, 40% of that available RAM is being utilized by some APPs that I don't even using or opened... we really need the ICS...

ICS use more RAM !!!
from Xperia S
I don't think you need more than 300+ ram to use any app or games.the remaining ram is more than enough.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Linux usually caches alot of data, like Prefetch on your computer
I thought ICS would have a better RAM management... like in my Galaxy Note (running ICS 4.0.3), those APPs or programs I'm not using or opened are not automatically running in the background... unlike now, even I forced them to close, they will still keep running and consumed memory...

True that ics will have better memory management, but for now do you have any low memory problem?
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
I'm not (yet) running APPs simultaneously and so far, I never encountered low memory problem... but eventually, if we are having low memory at this stage, we will surely have problem in the future - specifically when new generation of APPs or games will be requiring a lot of memories...

Yeah was just checking, our Xperia Arc has 200+ RAM so was expecting better than 300+ for Sony's current flagship device
from Xperia S
I couldn't send a picture over viber the other month because it said I had low memory! I had to reboot the phone and since then I have not encountered the same problem.

In this screen shot you posted, how did you get to that screen? I used the application Manager listed in settings and selected the "running" tab. Yours looks different.
Perhaps your ram usage is including cached apps. If it does then that sounds about right. I have about 400MB of apps cached (stuff like Nova Launcher, Widgets, Gallery, and Play Store)

Might be the problem with the free RAM.. Do you multi task heavily?

OK,thanks.
I had worried since my LwW didnt lag in settings menu even on ICS also my old Xperia X8 didnt lag.
I asked sony for this problem and they reported that this is not problem but they said that they know for this "problem"
Im not sure will they fix that or not.
That's good to hear
There are pending updates, and hopefully, it'd be fixed by then.

Hmmm. I don't go buy a pc without researching the benchmarks. I might be using an amd chip had I not looked at the benchmarks of the Intel chips in comparison. I don't suspect our phones and the chips we have in them are any different. There has to be certain tests that prove a chip's performance. There's always a game or function that can push a chip to it's limits, and some of us want to know what those limits are.

I was about to say that score is pretty bad... but then I noticed you aren't on a GNote.
Benchmarking serves a purpose, surely. But real world experience trumps sheer numbers (within reason). For instance, S4 versus Tegra 3. Both excel at certain benchmarks, but in reality, both are great.
Where benchmarking is f'in retarded is when someone *****es that they scored a 6200 and joe schmoe scored a 6250...and they are pissed.

the apps are easily fooled, i can build you a Rom that will show "over 9000!!!!" On benches, but run like total and complete garbage.

Ahh, but that's why we need a benchmark program that's not fooled by the rom. Pc's have them. Aren't our phones merely small pc's?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I know....a benchmark program built into the recovery mode software, so you could test the chip outside of the rom. That is a good idea. That way the test won't be skewed by widgets and background processes. Although I do like to know how much improvement comes from my overclocking.

Anyone use this feature on their S2? Its on Sammy based ROMs. I noticed if you enable it, it makes the phone run noticeably slower, which is presumably good to prolong battery life.
Haven't had a good use of it, as I only discovered it yesterday, but does anyone else?

Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Its only meant to be used when your battery is running low.
You can switch it on when say your battery is at 30%.
But as you know that will hinder the phones full potential.
Yes, I have seen that there are two options, for system and custom power saving.
When I choose system, it underclocks the CPU, but when I choose custom, it doesn't control the CPU, only the data connectivity options.
Just wondering how much extra juice you guys have managed to squeeze out of it.

Yeah, I know its primarily meant to be used with low battery, but sometimes when I go on long journeys, and no access to a charger, it may be useful.

Hey Guys!
Exciting news for you today! The much talked about Pie Controls found in Paronoid Android can now be installed on any ROM!
Confirmed working on stock ICS ROMs.
