It seems that many, if not all, of the apps I try to 'update' in the Android market generates an error on the Prime that says 'Application already exists' in the menu bar with an ! icon. This is annoying... I can uninstall / reinstall the app to get an update, but whenever I just click update in the Market, I get this error a lot.
Of course the application already exists! I'm updating it. Stupid Prime.
Does anyone have a fix for this? I searched the forum and didn't see anyone mention this annoying problem.
Are you getting system reboots?
Rumour has it the system reboots are a result of a failure while optimizing apps for ICS during the upgrade process.
Sounds like perhaps your OSs view of your apps is a little messed up...

No. Actually, I seem to have the least amount of problems with the Prime compared to most on the forum. Really, this issue and the weak GPS signal are the only ones I've had. Well, and the decreased wifi bandwidth when streaming bluetooth. But everything else generally runs smooth.
Two apps for example that I had this issue with... updating Google Voice and eTrade. Both of those for sure gave me the error that the app already existed. Uninstalling and reinstalling worked fine to grab the latest version.
Actually, I take that back. Sometimes when I do an uninstall / reinstall, it still says there is an update available.

Unfortunately I have the same issue. I haven't found a good way to work around it yet. As you have found sometimes uninstalling works and sometimes not.
Sometimes uninstalling it, rebooting the Prime, then reinstalling it works. Although, that's still sometimes as far as I can tell.
I've just started getting this issue when trying to update Officesuite Pro, first time it's happened.
Oddly enough when first typing this reply my Prime locked up and rebooted itself, which it's not done before.
Never had a reboot under ICS, at least not yet. But quite frequently have this problem. So I guess there is no correlation between the two.
The only anomalies that I experience are Skype or Talk video calls that suddenly die. No FC or any other message, Skype or Talk just exit.
I bet these types of problems will go away with a root and a custom rom in the future. Wish Asus would release the bootloader unlocking tool already!

Can you do that on a non-rooted Prime? I'm just waiting for the official unlock tool to go through that process.
This has happened to me on select apps too. Particularly xe app and officesuite pro. Can't seam to update them to the current version no matter what I do. Unistall/reinstall, clear delvik, and clear market data hasn't worked for me

I have the same problem, and i tried everything but it didn't work
Yeah... right now for me, it's Google Voice. And the worst part is, you can't get it to stop saying it's updating the market app even though it stops almost immediately. Annoying.
I get this sometimes, but I press update again and it updates fine

Random reboot is a normal way of life with android. A reboot here or there is nothing to worry about. Most of the time its from a bad app you installed. Now if you rebooting several times a day, then that's a problem. Its actually good to reboot or at least power down n then back on device every once in a while. It'll give device a fresh start on RAM and clear any mishaps that may have or could occur. Same deal with Ipad. They recommend rebooting every now n then for a fresh start and to have more ram available for use.
I haven't had this happen on my Prime, but I was having this same issue today on my Sprint GSII.
Not sure if this is a work around, but it just worked for me. Instead of updating the app from the 'my apps' section of the market, I went to the page in the market with the full app description. I clicked the update link there and it installed fine. I'll have to test this theory out more.
i too am facing similar probs. while updating WhatsApp and Skype too it shows that the application is already existing.
pls. note. both WhatsApp and Skype are under different Accounts
can this cause a prob that previously i would have installed it by 1 account and later on by another account when i changed the phone ?
pls. guide.
Google Play seems to pop up showing an update available for Adobe Flash 11 every single day at the moment. I've watched it download and install successfully several times now but it keeps coming back for another go. Is anyone else seeing this behaviour, or have a clue how to stop it?
Yaa i observe that but i don't know how to fix it...

Try to click on update and don`t close Google Play and don`t go any way from adobe flash player page on Google play. just click update and wait until there will be "open" option on google play.
as I saw this solution solves the problem

Had the same problem. It 'jumped' back from version 11 to 10.9 all the time. I removed the old version completely, rebooted my defy, installed the latest version from the playstore and made a backup with Titanium backup for just in case. Since then no problems here.
I removed flashplayer.apk in stock rom.
different workaround
well actually I just unistalled it and re-installed it, and it worked pretty well.
CM9 Epsylon 25_05_2012.
It might work and it´s really simple.

nice one dawggg!!
I have jokersax CM10 ROM. Did a clean install (full wipe), etc. At first everything seemed to be working fine, with the exception of SMS and the camcorder - and the camera/gallery is/was really flakey, but did work. However, the past week or so I have not been able to get Pandora to play, at all. It will load a song, then start loading the next, and so on, and never actually play any. I uninstalled Pandora and reinstalled it hoping that would help, but nothing.
Has anyone else experienced this, and anyone got a fix?
Thanks,
Mike
This is happening to me as well. I guess its a bug. Pandora worked for me until before the recent updates were made. I ended installing an alternative such as the Jango radio app. You might have to roll back to CM9 or GB to use it.

How do you roll back? Where do you get the older version from?
To add to the above (for the devs).
I reinstalled CM10, didn't help.
I installed CNA (lastest build), didn't help
I formatted both SD cards (internal and external), did a full wipe, then installed CNA, didn't help

link will be removed shortly. so download while you can. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4884480/Pandora.apk
Same thing was happening to me. What was weird was that it would play fine on Wi-Fi but not on 3g. That was on the second release of jelly bean, and now I'm on the newest one, and everything works fine.
I should also mention that was on the older Pandora before the update that was 6 days ago.

I just got online (been working in the garage since I got home) and just checked this thread... and must have missed the deadline as I got a 404 error. Is there any way you could possibly email it to me? If not, i understand, and I thank you for your help nonetheless!

Well, I got 1.6 installed, but it wouldn't launch. Just crashed every time I tried to launch it. Then, a few minutes later, it auto-updated to 1.7 (which, of course, still does what it was doing).
Since a new update to CM10 was put out last night, I think I will try it out and see if, by chance, this issue (and hoepfully a few other minor ones) has been resolved.
Good news! Pandora 1.6 is working like normal on the very latest CM10 build (last night).
Thanks na7q!
This seems like a common problem, but I haven't seen this specific form of it, so I'll lay it out.
Running CM10.1 I get the common Play Store error "insufficient storage available" when I try to update apps. I've recently noticed that it only happens with apps with "Google Inc" listed as the developer. Everything else works fine. I've tried wiping every cache I can find. I've tried booting in recovery and wiping the cache (including the Dalvik cache) that way.
I've uninstalled the updates to the Play Store app and related system framework. I have not tried uninstalling the updates to any other Google apps, because I'm currently unable to update or install any Google app.
As much as I hate to admit it, I've even tried Lucky Patcher. It has worked for me in the past with similar issues, but not this time.
A cursory Google seems to suggest that this problem is gone (or at least MUCH less common) in CM11, but CM11 hasn't been released for the Note 2 yet.
Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to reflash, because that's not a solution. I'll just have the same problem again in a month. If nothing else works, I will reflash, but I really don't want to.

Didn't say it wasn't available. Said it hasn't been released. I don't do nightlies or other unstables. Don't have time to reflash every few days to keep up with big fixes.

Maybe I'll give that a try. If I have to flash, I'd really rather be certain that it will solve my problem without creating new ones. If I flash a nightly, then decide I need to go back to the 10.1 release, I'll feel like I wasted a day trying to get blood from a stone since I could have just reflashed my current rom and only set everything up once.
It's not the flashing that bothers me. I'll flash four devices before breakfast and not even blink. I actually enjoy the hackery. It's the hour of work flipping through all the system settings and installing apps to get things running the way I like them that makes me want to flash as infrequently as possible.
But two important questions remain. First (and most relevant): is this issue (inability to update Google apps) as common and crippling in CM 11 as it is in CM 10? Second: does CM 11 restore the "move app to SD card" button to the app manager?
To be honest, that's more important to me. Less relevant to this conversation, but more important to my workflow. It's actually a dealbreaker. I love CM, but I'll flash back to CleanVZW before I load another OS that doesn't give me that functionality.
I have a Nexus 5, unmodified and unrooted on 4.4.4
I disabled background data recently because I was running out.
I noticed that the Google Now Launcher had a "No Internet Connection" box even when connected to home Wi-Fi.
I re-enabled background data and pulled down to refresh.
I now have no cards at all, when there were previously some old ones.
I have cleared data and cache of both Google Now Launcher and Google Search.
I have rebooted multiple times.
I have uninstalled updates and reinstalled updates for both Google Now Launcher and Google Search.
I don't know what to do at this point, other than a full device reset.
I am facing the same issue since morning
You can try deleting the home network and then reconnecting to it.

I'm having the same issues.. But remember, people were having this issue after last year's Google IO.
It's definitely an issue on Google's end. I'm having problems on both my Nexus 5 and iPad Mini...
Yeah, tried everything but still no luck. I wish google sends an update
I have the same problem on Nexus 4, (4.4.4). I hope Google will fix this issue soon.
I know its not a wrong thread to ask but I am facing this issue whenever I recieve call and using the phone, no option comes up to accept or reject plus navigation bar also hides. Can anyone please suggest me whats the issue. Have searched other threads but no luck.
Hi guy i can help you
Try to change/modify the Kernel ROM, or even change your Smartphone if you are under warranty
I have tried stock, franco nd elementalx.. In all three issue persists.
Has anyone tried a full device reset?
I got some cards. When I pull to reset, I get "no internet connection again."
Forgetting and reconnecting to the Wi-fi had no effect.
I'm having the same problem with my N5. Some searching seems to indicate that it may be due to Google Now's new "Google Now Everywhere" option, only officially available on the L preview, but unofficially by a hack here:https://plus.google.com/+AdamLawrence/posts/46A68S7Dytb
I installed the L preview and played with it for a few hours and enabled the "Google Now Everywhere" option, which I assume toggles some setting at Google, so that's probably how it happened for me.
Did anyone else try the L preview or use the hack above?

I used the hack, but Google Now Everywhere is supposedly rolling out to KitKat devices too with the latest update. But with the above person seeing an issue on an iPad tells me it's on Google's end.

I haven't used any hacks at all. I think the Google Now Everywhere thing might be it. Can someone link to what it's about? I haven't found anything specific by googling.

The latest version of Google Search, 3.5.14, has the OK Google Everywhere thing. If you're not on that version, I don't think it'd be what's causing the connection issue.

Hello.
Any updates or ideas about this error?
I have a device suffering this same. But by having installed CM11/12 all the time never experienced until go back to stock Motorola. Just to sold it and see the new owner told me about the problem, wanting to have his money back.
Version 4.2.x and lowers are working. Once the phone installs last 4.3.x or 4.4.x the problem starts.
Yes......This seems to be a bug.
I'm using Google Now with android 4.4.4, same issue.
