[Q] Will installing a new rom delete all data on the phone? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys,
I tried to search this question but I could not find it anywhere. Im thinking of buying an Xperia phone (either S or P) but I have a small issue to do with installing ROMs:
I have had 2 android phones (Optimus Black and Atrix) and they both have microsd slots. So I put all my data on the microsd card and leave only the android OS on the phones internal memory. Then when I wipe the phone, I can flash the new rom from the microsd card and I still have all my files untouched.
The xperia S and P dont have microsd card slots so I want to know if it is possible to flash a new rom and still keep all the music, photos and other files. And when you are supposed to wipe the phone to flash new rom, wont all the data be deleted so how do you keep the rom zip in the phone as well. I am pretty much a noob so I can only use the CWM and rom manager to flash new rom
Thanks a lot for your time.

no your files wil be untouched the build in memory is same as sd card, only is faster

Thanks a lot for your reply! Is there no xperia P forum on XDA?

Help with installing dynamic s3 style ROM on xperia u, sd card mount problem. No SD!

Umm hi I'm Kevin and this is my first post so sorry if this is in the wrong section or something. I have finally rooted my xperia u and installed cwm on it after days of errors all to do with my USB being faulty. Anyway I decided to install the dynamic s3 ROM on my xperia u as the stock ROM was a bit too slow for my liking and also plain looking. I boot into recovery and click press the unzip from SD or something like that to install my zip from my phone. As you know the xperia u has no SD slot and only internal memory. I tried another rom and still the same problem. A error pops up saying something along the lines of e:SD card cannot be mounted, and when I try to wipe any sort of date from within cwm it comes up with a simmilair message. Pressing mount SD card or mount ext SD don't work either. Please help as my phone lags terribly lately( barely any apps and files?) And so I really need a new ROM. Even just installing a different one from what I wanted would be alright as long as it is fast and works well with my xperia u. Got my eyes on either s3 dynamic ROM or infinity ROM which looks super fast from what I've seen.
Please help me as soon as possible!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app,
Just flash original firmware.

[Q] Xperia X10 - It won't recognize MicroSD Card

Hello everybody,
I'm new to this forum and let me say that all the hard work is done here it's just awesome My Xperia X10 is alive again thanks to the USA Generic Kernel+ROM I found here.
I'd checked many threads related to my issue but I did not find a similar one so that's the reason I'm posting (in case someone could say it'S been posted already!). The problem is the following:
The phone won't recognize the SD Card nor the xRecovery tool. I wiped everything and started again with the generic rom 2.3 I found here in order to check if it was a problem related to the customized rom I had before (which name I cannot remember right now). Now with this stock rom, the problem persists, but it's not a hardware issue I'm totally sure of that, because my cousin gave me this phone and he used the SDCard without problems the day he gave it to me (he listened to music, downloaded photos, etc); he removed his sdcard (if you ask :silly
Any ideas? People says in forums that it's something related to 2.3 Android Version, so if that's the case, I want to downgrade (any good roms out there, this is an Xperia x10a.
Thanks in advance! <3
BUMP!
Bumping this thread! (following the rules)
Thank you.
Can you access the SD card in a PC?
Does the SD card have a second partition?
Check with Mini Tool Partition Manager that the SD card is formatted as FAT32 with only one partition.

I fixed it four days ago; I just had to format the SD in a Blackberry/Nokia/Samsung smartphone and voila!

[Q] Installing a new rom from my external SD Card would format it as well?

I'm trying to install a new rom on my Mediapad x1 ... The question is : if i put the dload rom files on my external 32 gb card, after the rom install, would all my other card files be formated/deleted or not?
Much thanks.
Please don't take chances. Better backup all your files. The answer to your question is Yes and No. Some builds of Huawei roms format everything and some builds do not. Hence, you are advised to take backup of everything.
Thanks for your advice.
After rom update no files were deleted even the installed apps.

My Redmi note 4x OS in a continuously endless reboot loop

My Redmi Note 4x have a question with a continuously endless reboot loop after I add an external SD card (Sandisk Extreme Pro/ 32G) into SIM card holder that it be set as internal storage. However, the OS work normally after external SD card is unmounted.
Is there any way to set an external SD card as internal storage?
32G internal storage is not enough for me~~~
Thanks for anyone helping.

Are you on miui? Or on a custom rom? I don't really know if miui has an option to set sd card as internal storage, but i know custom roms have them. Regarding the bootloop, disable the feature from settings so you can end the bootloop

My suggestion is to upgrade to aosp extended v5.1 since v5.0 isnt going to be much updated plus it has bugs. Maybe that's am issue to the rom. Just boot in the phone without the sd card, then when the phone is on insert the sd card and format it normally. Then u can just copy the zips and flash them.

You can use titanium backup, but unfortunately that's the only thing :highfive:
More a question,if I only back up all the data, cache etc which are existing in AOSP ROM 5.0 except for system, can all things which are described above restore to AOSP ROM 5.1 after ROM 5.0 be upgraded and backup file be flashed via TWRP ?
In a nutshell, I don't want to lost things which were installed in AOSP ROM 5.0~~

As the above friend said, you can use titanium backup to backup all your apps that you have installed and then restore them after upgrading rom. It's pretty easy and from my experience you might have to configure some apps again, but all will be restored.
