Help problem in recovery - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a big problem with my galaxy tab 10.1, with rom aokp, during a crash, i am reboot the tablet but it still reboots.
in recovery mode and i'am wipe data but it nothing past the tablet rest in :
--Wiping data...
Formating /data..
The rom doesn't boot because i can not wipe data/factory reset, I can see my file when I do : install zip from sdcard -> choose zip but when I want mount usb storage there are :
E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory).
If the only solution is the after sale service, I must follow the :How to Unroot / Unbrick the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi Only of qbking77 thread for Unroot ?
I do not know what to do, please help me.
sorry for my English it is google translate from French.

Did you make a NANDROID before you installed?
Vous avez une Nandroid avant l'installation?

Yes, i made a nandroid backup before but it stop at restore data ...
you advise me unroot the tablet before sending it to "after sale service" ?

Try to restore a nandroid backup. Or go to www.sammobile.com and flash a stock firmware through Odin

I would first try to restore using the NANDROID you made prior to upgrading to ICS.
In all instances where I have had a problem using a new ICS build I have ALWAYS found restoring the original NANDROID restores full functionality to my GT-P7500

Hey, I have exactly the same problem.
When trying to wipe data in Cwm, I get stuck in formatting data.
Restore nandroid, I get stuck in restoring data stage.

I have the same problem. when i try to do a wipe\factory reset the device frezzes and shuts down.
i will now try to flash stock firmware via odin and see if that helps.
oh and OS is not booting also gets stuck on the boot animation.

Flashed Stock firmware via Odin, the device is in a boot loop, restarting at "Updating Application" line
---------- Post added at 04:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 PM ----------
SOLVED!!!
flash any stock firmware from SamMobile (i just chose Afghanistan or something...)
After doing that i have been in a boot loop scenario.
I re-flashed CWM via ODIN
then wiped data (and it finally worked!) x3 time, wipe cache x3, and wipe dalvick cache x3. just to be as anal as the guy who suggested that.
after that i re-rooted my device (i do not think its absolutely necessary but i did that...)
after restart the Stcok OS booted normally!
good luck to all the bricked fellows.

SOLVED!
After flashing filmware from sammobile with odin, the tablet boot, thank XDA member and Smoli4!

[Q] Help I bricked my Galaxy S2

Hello XDAérs,
I unfortunately bricked my phone. I started with downloading ODIN and CF-Root-SGS2_XW_CLK_KF3-v4.0-CWM4. I was able to get into the download mode and open the .tar. This was succesfull, I got to see my homescreen after the reboot. After that I made a backup using CWM.
And this is where I made the mistake. I opened CWM and opened cm_galaxys2_full-65 by using Flash an update. The device booted and started to install this and afterwards got stuck at the yellow warning sign!
I was hoping to fix this by going to the download mode and using ODIN again but this didn't help.
How can I fix this?
#UPDATE: Can i fix this anyway in the ClockworkMod Recovery (Sound up + Home + Power ) ?
Greets
restore your backup
hold up instead of down when you start your phone..
down=download mode
up=recovery...
when restore is not helping try restore wipe... all data will be lost..
I accidently pressed backup instead of restore... -.-. But I chose the oldest backup afterwards. This didn't work and also a restore swipe didn't help.
Before you gave me this advice I had tried to install the .tar file threw ODIN again, might this have made the back-up and restore impossible?

No it doesn`t matter.
If you want to install CM7 go back to recovery Volume up + Power
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Format System in mounts and storage
Flash the rom and google apps
Done
Hey,
I followed your instructions but when installing the .zip file the installation gets aborted.
Should I try apply /sdcard/update.zip?
thanks in advance

NO, turn the phone off and go back to recovery and try again.
If that doesn`t work turn the phone off, go into download mode (volume down and power) than yes (power up) and flash a stock rom for your country with Odin.
---------- Post added at 05:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
Or if you have a working backup as i read in yout thread restore the backup
use recovery wipe everything data, cache and dalvik and see what happens...if that does not work if you can get into download mode flash litening rom with odin and you should be fine..
once you got litening rom on then check what rom you want to put or just go back to stock from the region you from
Hey, I installed the stock rom and did it all over again, and now it works! Thanks for your help

You'll lose all your data but do a factory reset and wipe your system in addition to what you've already done and re flash the rom. FYI always have a nandroid backup around before flashing. It's time consuming but saves you a lot of grief in the long run

Factory reset(wipe) is an option in cwm(3rd from above) wipe and reflash the rom and let it boot, this can take 10min
1st check md5 .. it will show u wether its bad download or nt ... and then do this
go into cwm and to wipe data\factory reset wipe cache wipe dalvik and insll rom ..
omega 10 is up so better try omega 10 as its new rom :

How would put it into my internal SD if I can't transfer the file because I can only boot into Recovery or Download mode? Do I just Odin it straight in via the PDA option?
If you connect your phone with the PC while in recovery you should be able to use adb commands
Put the rom file into the adb folder than try
Code:
adb devices
now you should see any cryptic combination of letters and numbers in the next row
(if you see a empty row... that wouldn't be nice^^)
then do:
Code:
adb push yourromfile.zip /sdcard/yourromfile.zip
than try flashing again the new file
dont forget to do a full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, the common procedure^^
PS:
If you don't know about adb, it is installed with the android sdk, but you can download it seperately
place the ADB folder somewhere on you system hd, maybe directly to C:\
the open cmd and type
cd C:\ADB\
now you're able to use the above commands
You can put it on an external sd and flash it from there...
Verstuurd van mijn GT-I9300 met Tapatalk
Thank you, all of you... I will try this tomorrow and tell you guys how it goes!
Thank you so much EVERYONE, It all worked out, seems like the original file was corrupted, now running omega 10 smoothly!!!!!!!

[Q] Softbricked my i9300

Hi All,
i think i just softbricked my S3. i was running Omega rom 33.2 and found the phone was unstable. Hence i wiped data, factory reset, clear dalvik cache and etc. after flashing the rom, it got stucked at samsung boot screen.
i even tried to reflash the rom but still failed to boot up. after that i decided to flash stock rom using Odin (I9300ZSDLK2). it managed to boot in but then it got stucked at recovery (failed to mount /system (Invalid argument). i thought it could be something wrong with the /system, i then flash CWM to format /system. obvious i wont be asking for help if that step succeeded. i basically got pawned because i am not able to mount /system. anybody can help me?
Have you tried flashing your nandroid backup that you'll have made at one time before flashing a ROM?

no backup. i think nandroid restore wont help also because of /system is dead. i need to solve /system mounting issue.
Try full format then flash a stock firmware package in Odin.
Go into mounts and storage and format: System, data, cache and internal SD if you have it backed up.
Then re flash stock firmware, this has got me out of soft bricks lots of times.

If you are able to get into download mode, you can try flashing a PIT file. It will either really brick your phone or fix it. Search for the PIT file in the forums.
Remember when u flash a rom with pit file u need to tick repatition in odin..
But only do THIS in your case, never do it otherwise..
Good luck

[Q] Can't mount data, efs...

Hello everyone,
I have big problem with my S3.
I have installed with stable CM10.2 few weeks ago.
*
The phone was working normally until today when it reset itself (probably not important, but when I opened gmail).
When restarting it stuck in bootloop, so I wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
After that, when starting the phone it stays on the black screen where it says Samsung Galaxy ...
I tried to do a factory reset, and it did not help, then I tried to restore a Nandroid backup and did not want to
Then I checked mounts and partitions and saw that EFS, system, preload and data are not mounted and if I click to mount anything from it returns an error that it can not.
*
Please help if anyone knows what I can do.
*
Thank you.
*
Best whishes,
Dag
Partition probably corrupt, format each and then restore your efs backup. Flash your rom again with a full wipe.

Thank you for your answer
I tried flashing stock firmware with Odin but it didn't pass.
Than I tried this
http://widefide.com/mobile/galaxy-s3-boot-problem-solution
and now I can't enter recovery (still can access download mode) and got message that "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I guess that I will have to take it to service center.
In download mode I got status:
Custom binary downloads: Yes (1 count)
Current binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
Can I somehow revert System status to offical?
Only way I know is triangle away, which needs a working rom to launch from, sorry.

Format /system is done in recovery mode under "mount and storage" then after that you can restore your nandroid if it is done with the same recovery you use now. If you're on PhilZ 6, it usually can restore also CWM 6 backups.

What does format system do? And please help me load sentinel rom. That's the one I was gonna do.
Okay now for the question... I was running stock 4.1.2 with siyah kernel 6.0 b5. Then I decided to install philz kernel, but ended up in bootloop. Then I tried flashing dorimanx but still in bootloop. All the while I wiped everything before flashing.
Now im stuck as I can boot into recovery via any kernel but ultimately phone is stuck.
What to do?
And can anyone give me steps to install sentinel rom from this stage?

Mate, sorry for waiting, I was out of home. We will get your ROM back as soon as the phone boots again.
Don't worry, it doesn't sound serious so far. We have recovery and download mode (so topic name "nothing works" isn't really correct)
Formatting /system wipes all data from the system partition (so your system will be gone then) and it is important to do before installing new ROMs (essencially important for KitKat). It can't do any harm. As you have tried to install other kernels and didn't work we should check first what did you try to flash so far and it didn't boot? Is that what you wrote all what you have tried?
Now let me know please which recovery do you have now and is it the same version like when you have created your nandroid backup? If the recovery is the same, I would indeed try to restore nandroid backup right after wiping /system. Before you wipe the system just let me know: can you use ADB? If yes, check do you have ADB connection in the recovery mode?

Hi! Internal memory usually shouldn't get wiped by formatting /system, as it is "storage", not part of the system. I would give a try, wipe all: data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache (advanced) and format /system (mounts and storage). Then back to the main menu --> backup & restore --> restore from (internal or external memory where your nandroid is saved) and choose your backup. It should reboot normally then.

If you want to flash kitkat, the first thing you need to do is flash a kitkat compatible CWM (v6.0.4.7). If you try to flash KK with an 'older' CWM, you'll get 'installation aborted....error status 7' or something similar........

Yes, mate, CWM 6.0.4.5 is capable of flashing KitKat.
It is usually always the same:
download your ROM zip and compatible Gapps
check in the phone (or PC) if the zips are corrupted through download (if they open after clicking them, they are fine)
move the zips to the folder you will flash it from (if you use PC to flash zips with ADB sideload, put them in the sdk/platform-tools folder)
make nandroid backup of your presently used ROM
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache (advanced)
format /system (under mount and storage)
flash ROM.zip
flash Gapps
reboot
It is in general always good to read in the development thread of the ROM you attend to flash in the opening post which Gapps are recommended, or if there is some unusual order of flashing (sometimes, developers recommend reboot system after flashing ROM, and after that going to recovery and flash Gapps zip.
Some KitKat ROMs struggle with root access by using Superuser, so SuperSU should be flashed. If SuperSU app from Play Store gives errors by updating binary, you should uninstall SuperSU app then, find in the Chainfire's thread the compatible UPDATE-SuperSu.zip (version for your phone), flash its zip in the recovery, install SuperSU app, update binary (either "normal" or "through CWM/TWRP")
