[Q] CM9 kCernal not flashing? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to flash KangXperiaProject for my AT&T Xperia X10 running Android 2.1 and it says I need to flash ChampionSwimmer's kCernal using Flash Tool version 0.8.0.0 and I keep getting a message that says,
15/022/2012 16:22:00 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_DYNAMIC="SIN header verification failed"Can someone please post a video tutorial or a very detailed tutorial for me? I just got this phone because my HTC Inspire 4G's SIM card reader broke I really want my ICS back and this one seems pretty well. So please reply.

Have you unlocked the boot loader? Search in this forum should be near the top a full tutorial on how to do it then it should flash no problem

Hmm. I'm doubting that you Have UNLOCKed your X10 Bootloader. Flashing Custom Kernels via flashtool majorly for Unlock Bootloaded phone. If something wrong in middle of flashing, it will overwrite the SE kernels and failed to operate normally. And If i'm not mistaken, KCernel for CM9 is for UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS.
And For Newbies: Actually for safety, Highly recommended to update your X10 into Sony Official 2.3.3GB. Then, only follow steps to root, flash custom ROMS and so on.
Perhaps you try Sony PC Companion to update or Repair Phone whether it works or not. If you still locked, it may work and updated 2.3.3 GB.
If you succeeded, follow this Comprehensive thread that i have made below, many zipped PDF tutorial guides including screenshots are available:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711802
If you didn't make it unfortunately, hope you can recommend this link to future newcomers, for not letting them go wrong/unsafe/unrecommended path. Very Much Appreciated. Best Of Luck

whitefang

[Q] How to Unlock UK Orange Atrix Bootloader?

Hi there guys/girls,
Ok so I've decided i've had enough of froyo and this stupid locked bootloader, I was holding off as I have seen there being many cases of hard bricked phones and being someone with no insurance can't afford to brick my phone.
On that note is there anyone that can provide me with a guide to unlock my boot loader and get gingerbread specific to my phone ( please use noob terms as i'm not too familiar with moto modding )
my phone details:
System version - Version.4.4.20.MB860.Orange.en.GB
Firmware - 2.2.2
Baseband - N_01.95.00R
Build Number - OLYEM_U4_4.2.0
Any help is really really appreciated.
If any more details are required let me know and thanks in advance.
Ron
Somebody.... Anybody??
Have a read here
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
but from how i understand it once you have done it you can do any updates (must have read that wrong).
Many thanks for the help.
I have now unlocked my bootloader and am still on froyo 2.2.2 but am suffering from the ram problem ( only showing around 300mb ram )
Can anyone provide me with a simple guide to fix this?
Also does this now mean no more OTA updates?
Thanks in advance
No one feel like helping me out?
Well to add an incentive... If someone can provide me with a simple guide I will buy them a drink ( via paypal )

I had the same RAM issue. There is a ROM out there with the RAM fix but you can get this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16035823#post16035823 ROM and follow the instructions on how to install it. CAUTION: You MUST verify and install the kernel version specific to your phone from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409 link.
NOTE: I am not responsible for your actions and you should always make backups of your phone before trying anything. Try downloading tenfar's CMW4 to make backup of your ROM and get Titanium bakcup pro to save the configurations on your phone.
Good luck.
so to unlock bootloader and install fastboot on my Orange 4.2.0 atrix (UK) Ill need
1.Orange/Bell/Telestra/Latin America/International users ONLY - Download IHOP
2.RSD lite 5.3.1
3. fastboot
thats correct? and what is chance of brick ?
Im on irange mate and no brick for me, got full ram too. If you want me to write you a quick guide later i will. Let me know.

Hi mate, dont have my laptop to hand to write a guide. I posted a post a while a go with links to which guides i used.
Click on my username and find posts by me and youll be good to go.
If you wanted to wait i will be making a full guide including downloads etc for us uk orange users.

Heres the quick guide I posted, If you still want a full guide written out from scratch then Ill do that soon. Read through my thread here and you shouldn't brick your atrix. - I shouldn't and won't be held responsible for anything that you do to your own device happy unlocking.
Hey thanks for all the support. There are loads of noob Orange Atrix users waiting for Gingerbread OTA. I am one of them. Is there a guide tailor made for Orange UK users that I can follow? Also, if I use this, and the oTA comes through, can we flash back to that, or will it brick? And once bricked, what can we do? Ive got no insurance and brick will NOT be good, when I try to backup up from the (Boot + Volume Up = Android Recovery) all I get is the Android Logo staring at me with an exclamation mark. I understand you probably have a lot on your plate milky kid, but we are all FED UP waiting for Motocraps OTA. Thanks for any support you can offer.

It is rooted and the bootloader is still locked
can someone please help me and tell me how I can go from this old rom to the newest stock rom? I also remember I tinkerd with some file to make the multitouch work, so now I am afraid if i just flash a new ROM I might brick the phone.

[Q] Miui rom to my xperia x10 phone

Hello,
I am new at the rooting scene and i hope this is the right forum to post this.
I got my xperia x10 for 1.5 years now and i want to try something new.
When i was searching on the internet i found the new miui rom and it looked incredible. Now i looked to every possible thread on this xda forum database but i still didnt find out how to get this miui rom on my xperia x10. After reading many different threads i do not see the difference between rooting flashing and roms.
I am thinking this: do i need to root my telephone first, then flash it and then i can put a rom on it?
Other thing i was wondering is the thing with locked and unlocked bootloaders. I have a standard 2.3.3 version of android xperia x10 and i never did something with it. Do i need to unlock bootlader to get a miui rom or is this not needed.
My specs:
modelnumber x10i
Android version 2.3.3
Smalband version 2.1.71
Kernel version 2.6.29-00054
Sorry for asking these noob questions but when i look to the miui forum i see methods for locked and unlocked bootloaders.
I hope someone want to help me with getting the miui rom on my telephone, because i am 1000% not as smart as all of u are with phones
with kind regards,
Jeroen

Hey ,
First of all, yes u will need to root your phone before flashing ROMs.
And about the bootloader question.. Most of the MiUI ROMs requires a unlocked bootloader, but ofc some of them will work on locked too.. If u want to get the most out of ur phone, u can easily unlock bl using flashtool.

thnx for ur comment... well im still looking to the forums hehe to learn more.
So i can root my phone with xrecovery? and then i can also flash roms with xrecovery? but i have .73 and everyone is talking about .48 and .52 whats with that
Pick a rom and see what you need.Be aware that rooms have bugs, help is sometimes slow in forthcoming and to see what's going on may require you to read 100s of posts in that rooms thread AND some links for download may be dead.
Anyway first thing to do is set up your PC properly with flash tool/PC companion and flash/root the phone.
I would then read and bookmark the guides on here, and see how to make a backup.
Then you can see what rom you would like, see what kernel is needed and if you need/want to unlock the boot loader.
You could maybe have a crack at *oodies primex* rom to start off with.

When You're on a stock ROM it would be better for You to root and unlock Your bootloader now, else You won't be able to unlock Your bootloader later.
Here are all the files You'll need to do this.

Dear jakuburban,
Thnx for your reply on my message. I am currently at my work so i cannot open your help file. I am looking forward to it when i am at home. I did some research today on the forum and i finally understand i need to flash root and unlock my xperia x10.
But the only thing i do not understand is the kernel. There are many different kernels and i do not know wish one i need to use.
I want to get the corbrato MIUI rom based on 2.3.7 android. I got currently 2.3.3 android on my telephone. So do i need to take the 2.3.3 kernel or the 2.3.7 one? and whats the difference between the kernels and what one is the best to take?
I hope you or someone else can answer this.
Thnx for helping!!!
Kind regards,
Jeroen

2.3.3 and 2.3.7 are the versions of the ROM not Kernel. Kernels are mostly calle after a developer so for example DooMLorD kernel, which I think is the best for You. It works on stock-based ROM's and on a MIUI (It takes a little bit long too boot).

My Xperia X10 Queries

Hello everyone, albeit I have a substantial experience with Samsung Galaxy devices, I am new to the world of Sony (Ericsson) Xperia devices in the Android universe.
:silly:
A friend of mine has entrusted with me his Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, to eventually root the device and consequently flash various compatible firmwares, albeit there is seemingly a glitch with his device which I will mention below.
I intend on discussing my queries related to the aforementioned device within this single thread, rather than create separate threads for multiple queries.
Coming to the glitch with my friend's device, after it is powered on, the Sony Ericsson logo keeps reappearing, and this I presume is a bootloop, right? Thus, I thought I will try and attempt to get it working by flashing a stock firmware using Flashtool. But before I begin, I have a few basic queries pertaining to stock firmwares.
How do I identify which country's/region's firmware is existent on the device?
Can I use a stock firmware of any country/region I desire? If so, am I correct to believe it would have to be a generic kit and not a branded one?
The device details of my friend's Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 are as follows -
Model Number: X10i
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.1.71
Build Number: 3.0.1.G.0.75
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-00054-g5f01537

I await your knowledgeable responses, and I thank you for your patience with my naivety!
Hello Friends, as I described in my initial post, my friend's device is stuck on the Sony Ericsson logo. His device was never previously rooted or flashed.
I am up to try my best with your expertise of course, to revive his device and make it usable again. Hence, I have downloaded the X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_GLOBAL-GGL_GENERIC_1232-9897 stock firmware from the [Completed]X10 Stock Firmware Collection thread by THeLogiC, and have also successfully installed Flashtool 0.9.10.1.
I am following the [25NOV][FLASHTOOL GUIDE] HOW TO for n00bies - G-FACE GUIDE thread by Crowds in order to flash the stock firmware, but I seem to have hit a roadblock. When I launch Flashtool, there is no indication of Connected device: as is depicted in the aforementioned guide. I have attached a screenshot of my current working with Flashtool.
I humbly plead for your help.
It says usb debugging us turned off this needs to be turned on but the phone wont boot up past SE logo right? Try repairing the phone with PC conpanion from sony there might be a link for it on here somewhere if not try looking for SEUS software to try a repair the phone

I tried the repair function via PC Companion, but for some reason the update failed and now the device does not even power on.

Has the device become a proverbial paper weight?

I apologise for my very "noobish" behaviour! It turned out, the battery charge of the device had exhausted whilst performing the repair via PC Companion.
I charged the device to full capacity and executed the Sony Update Service, which successfully revived the device and made it progress beyond the boot animation. After that, I successfully flashed the Global Generic stock firmware and rooted the device via Flashtool.
I do have perhaps, another naive query! How do I ascertain that the bootloader of the device is locked/unlocked?
:silly:
I humbly await your expertise.
I think you need to use s1tool to check it not 100% sure though if its a capital R its locked and if its a small r then its unlocked I think search on the forum for it plus threes guides for unlocking bootloader aswell if needed
