Portrait Video? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i just recorded my first portrait video. A new format that i really like.
Nevertheless, VLC plays the file tipped.
Is there a solution for that? Both video files from my former phone (iphone, HOX) showed correctly.
thx

This should be in q&a
Anyway
I recorded video in portrait and when I played it back I could tilt between portrait or landscape screening. I'm using the standard video player though

Tried in windowsa media player and its not offering my any options regarding the tilt ;-(
Anyway. It would be nice if whatever player would just play the file as intended.

Try this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/14751/rotate-a-video-90-degrees-with-vlc-or-windows-live-movie-maker/

grainy video on alpha 3

Tried rockplayer lite and mobo, both play my avi videos as very grainy. Video wasn't all that great before, but it seems worse. Anyone else getting this? They play fine in webos
Try mxplayer. Plays 720p video beautifully.

Tried it. Still grainy. Thx though. Codex didn't help. Installed the arm7. Is that right?

What video format are your 720p videos in?
mxplayer seems to fall over on hardware rendering of mkv files and is fairly slow when rendering 720p mkv in software mode.
Edit: Actually I tried it again and its better than I remembered in software mode when rendering 720p mkv, although I think Ive overclocked it since I last tried and upgraded to Alpha 3. It is grainy though in software mode.
One thing I cant figure out is how to easily get back to the list of movies once a movie starts to play. Any tips there? The only way I seem to be able to do it is to set "playback complete action" in the preferences to "Quit", and then fast forward the movie right to the end, it will then send me back to the list of movies but that seems a clunky way to do it.
I also cant seem to back out of the subtitle selection if I attempt to turn off or change the subtitle language once in a movie, I can select a different subtitle language but it doesnt seem to let me out of the subtitle menu.
Edit 2:
Seems I had my status bar set to turn off when full screen apps asked for it. That means I couldnt see my home/back/settings button whilst playing a movie. Fix was to go into CyanogenMod settings and "Tablet tweaks" then ensure that "Disable Fullscreen" was ticked.
This now allows me to back out of Subtitles menu box and also enter movie selection and settings whilst playing a movie. Im not sure if this was a setting I had previously turned off or not or whether its the default to have it unticked.
shorttrip86 seems to have found a fix : (Fix) Found Working Video Player For Cm7 Alpha 3
It's a test build of MX Video Player.
Tried the Mx video file from that link up there. Its definitely better, but still very grainy compared to kalem player in webos. The videos I'm trying to play were made using PSP movie Creator. The dimensions are small so the quality on the videos is not that great and the only reason I'm even trying to find a fix is because its porn lol
LOL!
In this case, just watch it on webOS or download another...
I just went back to 2.1

Subtitles wont work.

MX Player pro wont load .srt file... I Can read it in plain text and tried a few other ones as well. The default video player won't even load avi files, and mobo player isn't loading subtitles either. First video I tried didn't even have audio ( it did but it just wasn't playing)
EDIT (picture wont upload- just says "upload to" usually goes to tapatalk) I also realized I posted this in the wrong forum when I went to look for it...

Moral of your story. If it needs subtitles, you shouldn't be watching it

Fast Five movie. Ended up using mVideoplayer and different subs. The video overtime would deteriorate in the timing between the audio, sub titles, and video. The video had perfect picture; but the player would induce blockiness, and blurred picture. Also fixing the timing on the subtitles would only work temporarily. 3 of my other video players wouldn't even play the subtitles. It was a horrible mess.
At least I got bit torrent working on my phone downloading at 2 megabytes per second.

[Q] Playing HD videos in xperia mini

Hi
First I want to thank everyone here for this useful forum,
I want to play HD videos in really full screen mode (without black margins in the top and bottom).
I tried alot of video players and they can crop the video to fit the screen but in S/W mode and the videos are so creepy and too slow.
when I change the aspect ratio in H/W mode I can only starch the video but I cant crop the video to fit the screen (without change the aspect ratio) like in S/W mode.
The new version of MX video player has the option called "correct H/W aspect ratio" but it's not work in my phone.
Can anyone find the solution for this,
I have rooted xperia mini.
Thanks in advance...
Sorry for my bad English...
HD or FullHD?
My Live with Walkman is able to play videos, but can't remember which format these were. Oh and I used MX Video Player also.
Will post more info when I try/find.
MX video player
Mx video player pro is the best you can even pinch to zoom ina video, I think there's a free version

Thank you for your fast replay..
I mean HD (720p) in MP4 format
I know that xperia phones can play this format but when I play HD in 320x480 screen there is a big difference in aspect ratio so the video is too small and pixels appears in the video.
So I want to cut the video to play in whole screen and use all screen surface to make the videos looks a lot better.
I can do it with MX video player in S/W mode only not in H/W but the video looks too slow and without Bravia Engine enhancement.

why do you want a zoom option in a video??
and if im not mistaken, there is an option to fit the screen or movie style
you just have to look for it harder

Same as mx video player
It can't keep video in the same aspect ratio using H/W mode
And S/W is too slow and worse quality than H/W mode and without Bravia feature
Tested yesterday my LWW, mx video player.
1080p movie was a bit laggy, sound and video did not match always.
720p movie ran completely without problems in S/W fast mode. I didn't have problems with aspect ratio, I was watching in a dark room.
1.1 GHz processor, minfree 100mb, minicmsandwich ROM.

yup. i have tested 3 bluray/1080p videos and it lags on any video player out there in the market. including mobo player.
It's the phone, that cannot play 1080p video.
RAM amount is too low, 512MB RAM, which only about 100-150 MB is free, depending on ROM and settings.
Maybe you have a slow sdcard. What class is it?

1080p but in which format?I observed that xvid plays very smooth.H.264 on the other hand it's kinda heavy.Maybe 1080p xvid can play without lags haven't test it though.

Actually first question was for Ahmed Abbass, i messed up the quotes
H.264 it's pretty heavy maybe xvid can do better with 1080p.
seriously why would you want to waych hd/bluray/1080p videos on a 3.2 inch screen.
why not view it on a pc/laptop/hdtv/ps3 instead?

S/W fast mode is worse than H/W in terms of quality and smoothness
It's even worse than normal S/W mode
Try to use H/W and watch the deference
Anyone can fix aspect ratio in H/W mode???
(I'm talking about normal 720p video not 1080p)

Which video app is my browser using?

Whenever I click on a video in my browser it opens the video in an extremely simple video player. It has only play/pause controls and forward/back plus a progress bar. Unless I have auto rotate on (which I rarely do) it does not rotate when I turn the phone. Other video apps on my phone do allow me to rotate the video.
It doesn't seem to be embedded in the browser as the same app launches from both chrome & dolphin.
What I want to do, is figure out which app it is and change the defaults so that I can launch a more flexible video player.
Does anyone know the name of the app, or how I can figure it out?

Slow-motion video not working

I have a VZW LG-V10 and love it.
Yesterday I tried to use the slow motion video, and it doesn't work. I select "mode" then select "slo-mo" and it says hit the button to record in slow mo. I record the video. After I record I use the gallery app, (stock) and it plays back normal speed with sound. Others that I saw having this problem say use the "stock gallery" but that doesn't do any thing for me.
I tried recording to sd and to internal just to check. Thanks for any help you give.
Also I have the newest update recently released.
Clear you gallery default apps. Sounds like it's playing in a non stock video player.

yea you need to play it with stock video player
