Turn On Screen With Notifications? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Any app out there that will do this? What about ability to turn screen on with long press of Home Button?

Try notify lite. Its free in the market. If i recall, there's an option to turn on screen when notifying. I used it with my Photon, it worked pretty good on that phone.

I know handcent does this for text messages so I know it can be done

There is also a market app called Missed Message Flasher that I use. You can set it to flash for all kinds of alerts

I turned off mine. When I get a call.
And I've never heard of one app that could do that. But who knows.

What I mean is like long short long vibrate. Something that will pulse til it got my attention.

I used to use an app called Missed Call on my droid to make custom settings for my contacts before handcent added that feature. I only text really so call settings don't matter to me but if I remember correctly, it has settings for everything from email to call to texts.
Just looked in the market and it seems to have been abandoned. You could still give it a try.

MoPho Selective Vibration

Currently, I keep my phone on vibrate most of the time. However, some people send me way too many texts which can be annoying. Is there a way to silence the vibration for certain contacts? I don't want to block their texts, I just don't want my phone to vibrate for those select contacts.
Bump... bump...
idk about for individuals but if you get chompsms (LOVE IT.) and turn off your other messenger, in chompsms settings you can go to notifications and vibrate pattern, hit custom and u type in how many seconds on/off it vibrates, for a quiet vibrate i put about
.015,.015,.015,.015,.015,.015,.015,.015 for a very long time, personally at the end i put ".075,.075,.075,.075 for two louder but still quiet and short vibrates at the end

Thanks for the ChompSMS recommendation it doesn't seem to provide a way to silence individual contact notifications. Any other suggestions?
search sms blocker in the market place theres an award winning one with a lot of features.

Thank you for your suggestions as they led me to an app called Vibe which may do the trick!

Voice notification with text alert

Can anyone tell me how to cut off the voice notification that happens everytime I get a text? I've looked in settings but haven't seen anything that would change it.

Its part of the "voice talk" app. You must have it set to drive mode so it announces everything that happens on your phone. You can turn it off through the widget, or through the app itself.

Yup. That fixed it. Thanks!

[Q] Can I disable screen on when I receive an sms?

I hate how my screen turns on when I receive an sms message. I only need the notification icon in the taskbar and the led blink and if I disable the notifications from the settings the screen does not open but I loose the other notifications as well. Any ways to fix this?

interested in that too
Don't know if it's possible with the stock app, however if you're willing to use a 3rd party app, Go SMS does have an option to keep the screen off and quite possibly other apps do too.

switch to HANDCENT SMS, it is the best sms app, i am using it for a year now. Go to setting and disable pop-up. Now when you receive a message, it will vibrate, led will blink, but screen will not turn on. You will ses the message in the notification bar.

That's what I'm using right now but I want to minimize the use of third party apps as much as possible . Plus with handcent sms when I send a picture or video it doesn't work. I have to use the regular messaging app in order for my mms to leave successfully .

Still no solution for this one. I don't want to use handcent or go sms for two reasons. First I like the simplicity if the stock samsung app and second I use the direct call feature that only works with stock app. There must be a way to hack the default messaging app to stock opening the screen when receiving a message.

BUMP. This feature is sooooo annoying!!!!
It irritates me also. I've used Handcent on every device in the past, but I don't want to for some reason on this one. I actually rather like the stock messaging app.
I suppose I'll go back to Handcent. The screen on is annoying, plus it creates a temporary wakelock that drains the battery even more.

Turn off notifications and use an app like light flow.
Use a different MMS app.
Many ways to skin a cat here.

This.
I use Handcent and there is an option in settings to set the "Do Not Wake Screen" setting.
You need to go into your stock SMS app settings and uncheck notification options though.
As suggested by another user, turn off notifications in the sms app. Download an app called sms popup in the play store. Go into that app. Disable the popup notification. Set the rest of the settings such as the notification icon, notification sound, etc. With all that done, you essentially have the stock app behaving the way you want. I've been rocking this solution along with light manager for a few weeks and it's flawless.
