Since 2 days i can't phone with my S3.
When i call someone, my s3 sounds nothing and i can't hear someone and someone can't hear me. If someone is calling me, there is the same problem.
Please provide more details of you firmware so others may try of understand the nature and cause of your problem. Knowing the cause will most like lead to the solution
ie. Any changes made since the problem
1. Rooted?
2. Firmware version including baseband
3. Custom or stock?
4. Any mods, flashing, setting changes since working?
5. Apps installed since?
6. Have you Factory reset?
7. Any other info that would be useful sincethe problem started..........

1. NO ROOTING
2. FLASHED TO ORIGINAL Firmware with no Apps or Games. I installed nothing and with Factory Reset.
AP: I9300XXALE8
CP: I9300XXLE8
DBT: I9300DBTALE5
Before the problem started it was rooted.
but i can do and try what i want.
my simcard works with other phones.
my galaxy s1 has no problem.
only my s3 has a problem with calling.
i can't hear someone and someone can't hear me.
when i will call someone there is no dial-tone.
1. Try switching and test between GSM and WCDMA
2. Flash back to your origninal firmware or try another firmware or modem

++ Do you still have original IMEI number?
Try switching and test between GSM and WCDMA
I have tried it, but there is no reaction.
yes i have original imei.
If you have exhausted all the previous suggestions, can't imagine it being any fault of the firmware. More likely hardware.
I'd erase all evidence of rooting and make sure sure you flash counter in Download mode is Zero and Settings > Status > Device Status does not read modified >> return for warranty repair or replacement
Sorry, can't think of anything else yet
yes i think its a hardware error.
all other functions internet, etc are working correctly.
I'm having the same problem.
i also had a problem with calling. i think antenna is faulty since the phone loses signal. just replace it.
I also have the same problem. I want to find a new modem firmware. but cant find it anywhere.

Why bother with repairing anything when that will void warranty. Exchange for new if possible, or official Samsung service centre.

but the question is what is the error?
i think if the antenna is faulty i can't get a connection to the data transfer and the internet. but this is working.
i have only a call problem.
can it be that a modem file is corrupt?

i had the same. you can try to reset your phone via settings
I doubt that this a hardware error.
Reason 1: speaker and microphone are working.
Reason 2: mobile data sending and receiving is working.
(if this is an error with the antenna i think i can't receive and send mobile data)
Reason 3: i have always a good signal.
i have only a problem with calling. and this with 3 other tested simcards.
after the ending of a call it comes for 2-5 seconds the message that i have currently no signal.

I followed this guide ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihFRsquw_8E&feature=g-hist&context=G2816d54AHT2JnXgAAAA) to get the official ICS update.
I know the update was for Nordic countries and I live in Sweden so I flashed it through odin.
Now I can't make phone calls, send text messages or connect to my 3G network.
I asked the uploader and he said "Go in to recovery mode and wipe cache and factory reset" so I did.
The phone then started up in Polish and the problems were still there.

Have you backed up your EFS folder before flashing?
What you have is a standard IMEI, meaning, that IMEI is for phones that are displayed on stores.
First, try re-flashing the package. If that doesn't work, re-flash only the modem.
If even that doesn't work, follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021

I dont think I have since I don't even know what an EFS folder is
I am going to try all of these.
By the way when you guys (assuming you too have an 19100 and have upgraded to the official ICS rom) press and hold the power button, do you get the menu for silent mode, 3g network, shut down etc or does it just shut down immediately?
My friend have a similar problem too, he got a problem with CSC Unknown and he can't call, text and all phone features....
The real problem where i can find the flashable CSC files because all link are dead

Well... You should ALWAYS backup your /efs folder. Your /efs folder is literally your phone and is what distinguishes a phone from a gaming mini-console
I have that menu, and I'm sitting on LPB, waiting for something more stable LPB...
Always always always backup that damn EFS folder
That imei number is a generic one so you have lost your unique number.
Try this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021
There are others to search for. As a last resort search for odia. He/her has the knowledge to fix it.
Otherwise return for jtag repair.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your IMEI but I hope this will teach you to inform yourself better before doing something like flashing in the future. Anyway simply reflashing the firmware might help it, it certainly helped me twice.
If you get it back make sure you back it up, so you wont have to go through this again.. There are a bunch of apps that can do it for you so it really isnt all that hard.
Anyway, good luck!

Tried reflashing the package, and it doesn't work.
I only have one big (622 mb) .tar.md5 file, should I flash that in the modem?
I am having the exact same problem, although my IMEI number seems fine. By that I mean it is not the generic one previously posted.
I can not connect to my carrier network, or do anything else network related for that matter.
My phone also turns off when I tap the power button once, I do not get that standard menu.
Any suggestions?

Here's the fix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY9cDkj4CCw! If it works, make sure to make multiple backups of your efs folder on sd card/pc/drop box etc!! Hey guys, I'm in desperate need of some assistance here.
I have an international Galaxy S3 i9300, rooted and with CWM.
I flashed Criskelos XXDLH8 ROM yesterday, and I followed the instructions to the dot.
The flash seemed to be problem free.
However, once the phone booted and i was on the new ROM, i tried to make a call, but I kept getting an error message saying "not registered on network".
I instantly freaked out, and wiped my phone+cache, and flashed stock Samsung ICS (XAALE8) via Odin.
The phone booted normally into the stock ICS. But instead of seeing signal bars on the status bar, all I can see now is just a circle with a line through it . :crying:
I did some research on the net, and didn't really find anything to help me, which is why I'm here, seeking ANY help from you guys.
I'm freaked out guys! Any assistance would be SO appreciated! thank you!

Are you sure the firmware is suitable for your model for your phone's factory? There are at least three regions of producing Galaxy S3 International version. Some final product made in Vietnam and Korea has a lot of problems and need to be changed to the board made in China due to software problem. You should try using the "Firmware Upgrade And Initialization" in the "Tools" in the Samsung KIES 2.5 because it will download the latest official firmware according to your model and serial number and it will wipe your phone at the same time.

It sounds very much like a locked phone that was unlocked in a suboptimal way
Unless you have the original EFS (on which you might try to do a cleaner unlock) you will be "condemned" to always need a patched modem.
The short story is that network locking is done in a protected/checksumed database in the EFS partition and some older unlocks were not even attempting to keep the database "clean" - they were forcing a flag there but since there was some other check at a later time you need a special "patch" in the GSM modem code - that is located in a different partition and might be a little different from one country/carrier to another. Unfortunately the modem is (usually) updated with major ROM updates, so you have now lost that patch - but you can take a look below for a fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601
The bottom line is that (unless you restore original EFS and do a very clean unlock) you will always have to re-apply the modem after you program a new full ROM!
Hi,
I've flashed my SGS2 successfully to Cyanogenmod 7.1. Then I wanted to upgrade but whichever new ROM I put (Resurection Remix 3.0.x or Cyanogenmod 9.1) the Mobile Data network will not work.
I have found Samsung stock version 4.0.4 and there Mobile Data works OK. Baseband version is I9100DDLPA. But this stock version drains the battery so fast that I really want to change to something else.
Then I copied all the APN settings from there and put them manually to both RR and Cyanogenmod but it did NOT help, no Mobile Data.
I have found DDLPA modem file and flashed both RR and Cyanogenmod and no luck!
On this site I found the instructions how to extract modem.bin from ROM but I'm not sure if that's the right path to take. I don't want to brick my phone and I flashed it back and forth dozens of times already (almost there to give up).
The phone is bought and used in Dominican Republic with Claro as provider.
Other data from About: Build number IMM76D.XWLPT
Can anybody help?
You said you put the APN settings in manually? Chances are good there's a typo. Like a comma instead of a period, spaces where there should be none, or a password that is lower case that should be capitalized, etc. Double check the settings.

I have also tried to enter my APN details manually and nothing happens. After I hit the save button it returns to the APN menu and displays NOTHING.

i understand you guys cannot use mobile data, after flashing CM9/CM10 even though your APN settings are set manually and correctly.
Please provide answers to the following questions:
1. Is your problem only related to CM9/CM10 ROMs only?
2. Do you have EDGE + 3G + H, but you cannot just browse because you can't get H+?
3. Did your mobile
mobile data ever worked when you flash a non-stock based custom ROM? If there is any please name them
4. Have you ever faced similar problems after flashing a stock firmware / stock based Rom?

First, try using the reset to default option in the APN menu, this can sometimes takes a while to set so be patient.
If that doesnt work, enter your APN manually but dont hit `save`, when you are done use the `back` button then `home`. Then reboot.
Both of these work for me.

Possible, but highly unlikely... especially if the issue is solved by flashing a modem, kernel, or firmware/ROM. If any solution found here involves flashing one of these things, for your sake, DEFINITELY DO NOT DO IT. You will make your situation worse.
Agreed I wouldn't flash anything unless it was from t 989 or the skyrocket. IM just running out of options and was hoping I would get lucky and the fix would have to do with a certain way of wiping caches or something to that matter sorry to cluster up this thread.

1. Your problem is caused by mismatched Ril and baseband Download Getril: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sibbor.getril&hl=en
2. When you run the app, it will first tell you the recommended modem for your Ril.
- I'll advise to download the recommended modem here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277593, then flash this modem via CWM recovery. Your APN settings will stick after a single restart.
- If you are unable to find the recommended modem for your Ril, then you can then download the recommended Ril for your baseband/mourn. Reboot your phone once. Your APN should stick now.
Problem solved
Personally, I prefer the first solution

3. I had Mobile data working fine with CheckROM REVO HD6 if I'm not mistaken, (it was some time ago and I tried so many ROMs after that)
4. I never had problems with stock ROM.
Thank you for your help.

Ps: I had already posted this solution for you earlier, but it seems you didn't notice it.

I did a wipe and clean install of ResurectionRemix. GetRIL detected mismatch but the URL you gave us does not have my modem. So I used the download button and he installed the proper modem but still Mobile Data is not working.
I have to add that I can always put APN settings manually and it always stays there after I reboot the phone but no mobile data.
Any other idea?
Hey guys, I need help reviving my I9100. I had it rooted and running CM for over a year, always upgrading to the latest nightlies when out of a sudden it started to lose network connection. Now it doesn't get any connection at all, no matter what I do....
Here are a few things I have done (not necessarily in that order):
- searched the forums for similar posts - didn't find one that matches my exact problem
- restaured a few different backups from when everything was working with CWM
- flashed older versions of CM (all the way back to CM7) with CWM
- flashed the original factory ROM with Odin
- flashed a few different modems with CWM
- factory reset, data wipe, cache wipe, fix permissions, etc. with CWM
- used GetRIL to fix RIL (tried a few different ones with each different modem flashed)
- tried my SIM card in other phones and it works
- tried other working SIM cards in my phone and it doesn't work
Not sure what else I can try before assuming it's a hardware error....
Everything else works fine - WiFi, Bluetooth.... basically my phone is now an iPod lol...
TIA
If your SIM works in other phones than the SIM is not the problem.
If your phone doesn't work with other SIMs - that's you clue right there. Is your phone locked to a specific carrier? If so, try other SIMs from same carrier. If the phone is factory-unlocked and doesn't accept other SIMs - it's a hardware issue.
Edit: Please check if *#06# shows your iemi.

My phone is carrier locked but the other SIM I tried was from the same carrier, so it should have worked. I have the unlock code anyways, just never had the need to unlock it. If anyone thinks it might help with the diagnosis I can find another carrier's SIM to unlock the phone and try it out.

Yes it does.
If your SIM worked in other phones from same carrier, but no SIM works in your device, I sense a hardware fault.
Don't rush unlocking it if you plan to have your carrier to repair the phone. It might disable your warrenty or flag your device as "tampered with".
Again, if no SIM seems to work in the device and the iemi is NOT blacklisted (for some reason), it's a hardware fault.

My phone is not under warranty, which is the reason why I really need to try everything possible to fix it. Otherwise I'll have to buy a new one out of my own pocket...
Is there any chance a bad Modem and/or RIL combination might be the problem here? Would flashing through CWM instead of ADB (which I haven't tried yet) make a difference?
Alright, this is what I should do:
- Sim unlock your phone.
- Make sure you do a full wipe.
- Flash a stock rom.
If you still have no reception, then its probably a hardware fault.
Now you could do 2 things from here on. Either you use your phone for listening to music or you open up your phone. Inside your phone there is a white cable. This is your atenna cable, take it off and connect it again. Test your phone now with your simcard. If it still doesnt work, try reversing the cable. Try again if it doesnt work. Try this procedure a few times.
If it works you are lucky, if it doesnt work you have a serious problem.
Opening up your phone is really easy, just search Youtube for instructions.
Hardware issue? Easy now....no need to rush things out.
@OP where did you get the unlock code? From your carrier itself or third party?
You've tried a lot of modems, are you sure you don't wanna try 3 or 4 more?
When you look for a network, does it even see the available ones?

Sure! which ones do you suggest? And how should I do it right? I've always just flashed them with CWM and never had any problems. Initially I only flashed the files codeworkx made available to flash with CM, but once I got this problem and couldn't fix it I flashed a few different ones from here. Does it make a difference if I flash them with ADB instead? I haven't tried that...

No, doesn't find anything. It even feels like it is not even searching at all. I remember a few times before it would take forever to find all the networks (did it a few times when travelling)... but now it says "searching" for a few seconds and nothing - back to the "available networks" screen without giving me any results.
Sure sounds like a modem thing.
There's a thread filled with modems in the original android section, you could look there.
You've never been to jb leak's land?
It's a good international modem, might work. It's LS6 I think. Feel free to try the whole ROM, can't hurt right?
You can also flash them with odin.
Sent from the little guy
OK, here is something I don't get:
Downloaded the LS6 modem, flashed with CWM, wiped cache/dalvik, reboot. Still no signal. Then, just for curiosity, I opened GetRIL. It showed me a RIL mismatch:
RIL: XXLQ6
Baseband: XXLS6
So I click to download and install the correct RIL (couldn't hurt right?). After download/install I reboot, wipe cache/dalvik, reboot, and still no signal. But now, when I go to to System Settings >> About Phone my Baseband Version is "unknown".... not even GetRIL recognizes it anymore.
Flashed CM nightly again to get things back. Now I have my baseband back (XXLS6) but still no signal.
@gastonw -> I don't pay much attention to leaks since I have been using CM Nightlies. But I'm downloading the I9100XWLSD ROM from the Official Firmwares thread to flash with Odin... let's see what happens...
Edit: Instead of matching the RIL to the baseband I tried the opposite - flashed the XXLQ6 modem. Now GetRIL shows me a perfect match.... and still no signal.
Try stock to see if things fall back to place.
Once it's fixed you can cyanogen mod tha phuck outta the device
Now, I've suggested JB leak (lsj) because of the "International" tag, you are now downloading nordic, so that could cause trouble (I'm in Uruguay and it works just fine tho).

yeah, back up EFS folder and nuke your phone.
(Really, search for nuke script here at xda).
I still don't think this is hardware related.

Bro search EFS folder corruption. I wouldn't nuke anything yet incase a custom rom or kernel has automatically backed it up. Baseband unknown and imei number unknown all point to EFS problem.

I manage to backup b4 it hardbrick.
Will restoring my old nandroid write my /efs???
I cant call/sms when im in a building/home...
When im traveling,i can call or online using data...
What seems to be the problem?
I check my imei at imei lookup and i shows galaxy s i9000 device????
When i type *#197328640# to read imei it show Imei : Not Supported
No, restoring a nandroid backup will not touch/restore/overwrite your EFS, unless your EFS isn't borked in the first place & it's only 'temporarily' disappeared, and even then it's more likely simply rebooting rather than restoring the backup fixed the problem.
Edit - That problem you're describing is either a simple connectivity issue (which could be carrier side or could be solved by trying different modems), or perhaps something was damaged when the phone was repaired. If it was an IMEI issue, you'd have no connectivity full stop.

Try to flash few modems n 2 custom rom but still the same..
I check the coaxial cable n is fine...
Replace the charging port and speaker(antenna) but still the same...
Tried other sim/carrier but still the same...
The most confused part is why it only happen in buildings?
Put it this way, you opened the phone up & replaced stuff. You sometimes have connectivity & sometimes don't. If it were an EFS/IMEI problem, you'd notice you have no IMEI & you'd have no connectivity all of the time. So thinking logically, the finger points & something not right with hardware. As to why it's happening in buildings, that sounds like an issue of the radio not operating the way it should.
Having said that, there are dozens of modems, you've only tried a few. Before you start investigating the hardware side again, if you haven't done a clean install of stock recently, do one. Then look for modems bundled with stock roms released by your carrier. Try those. Then try modems bundles with stock roms released by other carriers in your country. Try those. Then if you're still not having any luck, try every modem from every carrier/country you can get your hands on.
If you've done that & you're still having the issue, it's either something carrier-side or a hardware issue.
Um...restoring a 4.0.4 nandroid.....probably best NOT to do that....even as a last resort......
And check under settings...about device...status to find your imei number....if it's there (even when you have no connectivity), then it points to a hardware or modem issue.....
