[Q] Cyanogen software buttons - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to enable the software (on-screen) back/home/application list buttons with Cyanogen mod? I see them in screenshots but cant find anywhere in Settings

You can install PARANOIDANDROID v1.3a ROM. It is built on CM9. When you install the ROM navigate to Settings > Interface / System > Navigation Bar > Softkeys and you can toggle the on screen buttons.
Here is the link to the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715541

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Do you have an option to completely disable the capacitive menu and back buttons?

I second that... coming from a galaxy nexus i have to say that on screen keys are the way forward.

[Request] Button Mapping Mod

what i'm looking for is a mod (flashable or DIY instructions, i don't care) that'll
-remap the buttons to multitask, home, back
-remap longpress home to google now
-activate onscreen menu overflow buttons in apps (as seen on phones without dedicated menu keys)
-put a Sense 4 style menu bar on the bottom of the screen on apps that need it - but slim! not massive like the onscreen keys that i get if i turn em on via buildprop editing
i've tried doing this myself and i can get as far as remapping the individual keys (and i managed once - i forget how - to remap the longpress home) but i can't get the menu overflow buttons in apps to appear for anything, and i don't even know how to start getting the Sense-style menu bar. In fact, when i remapped the menu button to multitasking, i couldn't access the menu in any app at all.
oh, and i want to do this on a touchwiz based rom, because of the s-pen and camera goodies.
if this isn't possible, is there at least some way to make menu the multitasking button, and longpress it for menu, while activating the onscreen menu buttons?
(hell, if that can't be done, can i just leave it as is and get the menu overflow buttons? because they'd make using the phone via external monitor or s-pen - both of which i do a lot - much, much easier)
thanks in advance!
Have you tried apex launcher. I use most of the things you are wanting via Apex

[Q] 3 simple questions

Okay, I just installed CM 10.1 (JB 4.2.2) on my Samsung GT-P5100 (first time I'm doing this)
1) Is there any way I can receive/listen FM radio ? Even if I have to change my firmware? I tried some apps, but I can't do it :X either they all crash when I launch them or they won't install at all..
2) Is there any way I can rearrange my applications in the "app drawer" that comes with the CM ? Maybe if I had a virtual menu button ?
3) Can I enable the virtual screenshot button on the bottom (the bar where the virutal back, home and running apps buttons are). I had ICS before this and I really liked it, but now - holding Power & VolumeDown, or taking a screenshot from the power menu.. I don't like it as much
Thank you in advance!!!

How to disable 3 dot menu bottome bar ?

Hey peeps
if anyone would know how to disable the bottom 3dot menu, and just to long press home key for menu like they did on the htc one / x etc....
Cheers
I wish I had a three dot menu button.
Xposed may fix the 3dot disable option. Venom rom has the option to edit the home key long press to offer menu or other choices.
Yes you will need a custom ROM such as mentioned above, also Viper ROMS support this function.

[Q] Possible to remap recent apps key to long-press for menu -or- show 3-dots menu?

I've got a Nexus style rom on my Evo LTE. There's no 3-dots menu button showing up in apps and long pressing the recent apps button doesn't do it either. I've seen the mod to change the recent apps button to menu and long press home to get recent apps, but I still prefer to have the recent apps button like it was. Any ideas?
Hello. First, you should be more specific about which Rom you're running. Second, most custom AOSP roms have the ability to remap the hardware buttons on the settings menu. You can set it to open recents on short press and open menu with long press.

Ah just what I was looking for, will look that up once my phone boots :good:
Xposed Framework > Xposed Additions
Ok, I already had the Xposed Framework installed and after I identified the Xposed Additions module, remapping the keys worked great.
For reference

Change behavior of double-press power button?

I know there's a setting, but there are only two options offered: Nothing or Open Camera
I'd love to be able to toggle the flashlight with the power button. Anybody know where the system file is that controls that? Would it be in build.prop?
Now, I know what I'm going to say it's not the solution that you're looking for BUT, I remember that OnePlus X had a default behavior for when you draw a V (I assume it reassembles a light coming our from a flashlight), so I used the same on OP N10. This option is available at Settings > Buttons & Gestures > Quick Gestures > Draw V
You can change this in framework-res.apk and its affiliates, change the integer text and remove impeding files. Cheers
