Hello all,
I just purchased the Samsung Galaxy S II from AT&T yesterday while it was on sale for $9.99. I've been searching through the forums looking at roms and some of the forums have a picture of the phone which looks different from the picture on AT&T's site. I understand a lot of what they (AT&T) post is general information but I was hoping you could assist me.
In this video I see both the S II and the Skyrocket have 4 buttons across the bottom not that awful looking big black button in the middle.

Does the S II look like,

or
B) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Samsung_Galaxy_S2_Epic_4G_Touch.jpg
Thanks in advance for your help!
You probably have this phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1301
Look under your battery for the exact model number then find the correct forum.

Hi guys,
I'm on eBay searching for a bunch of cheap accessories like a case and screen cover for the Galaxy S2. I noticed many models say "i1900" which is the (international?) model.
Does anyone know if the 'body' size of the Samsung S2's are the same, or are they carrier specific? If so, any recommendations on AT&T case covers and screen covers?
Thanks!
hi guys. just recently joined the S2 crew. bought a black one from Bell (canada) and thinking to get some accessories. seems like there are diff versions of the phone AT&T, SGH-i777, I9100...etc. do they all use the same case? one size fits all? or the buttons and openings on these phones locate in different places? thx
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm buying a new phone this week, but unfortunately I'm locked in to phones that I can get via Telus. I really wanted the Samsung Galaxy S II X, but after browsing this forum a bit it looks like because it's on a different chipset it won't work with any of the ROMs for the default model. Is that right? Is there a development community for that specific phone out there?
The only real alternative that I see is the HTC Amaze, which at least seems to have a developer community (albeit small). It looks like a pretty comparable phone as well. Unless there is a phone I'm missing here (and no, I'm not willing to shell out the money for a Galaxy Nexus on Bell, as much as I'd love to have one).
Edit: My apologies, I finally found the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II forum, which is the same phone (or close enough that there are Telus ROMs there). Answered my own question, although I wish Samsung wouldn't be so bloody confusing with their model names.
Different phone, different internals and therefore different ROMs. Roms for SGS2 wont work for the S2X. I dont know about the SGS2X, but the one from Rogers is called the i727 Skyrocket, and i do know there is a dedicated section on XDA for that phone. I sold my SGS2 and got the i727 Skyrocket LTE, now im selling the Skyrocket to get my SGS2 back =) Despite the slower clock speed it feels faster than the i727. But then again that might be because my S2 was rooted and running a custom rom vs the fully stock i727. Like you said it has a different chipset, and i think that makes a difference.
NoteSince it looks like we all got the same phone north of the border, maybe we could change the forum name to the Note I717 rather than the AT&T model. I could see this causing confusion in the future.
Just my two Cents!
I vote to match the other AT&T Galaxy Nomenclature.
AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-I717

and i live in Egypt ,can i make update to ics and what about the application on google play which is not available in my reigon can i use it without displaying the message (video is not available in your country )like i face in my current GT-9100 G
please help
many thanks
Hany
There's no such model as "GT_9100 international".
Also, spamming two subforums with the same question is a quick way to ensure your speedy departure from XDA.
sorry
but i mean samsung galaxy s2 (GT-9100) without G
If you actually did get it from the US, then it's not the GT-I9100. The GT-I9100 is sold many places, but NOT in the US. There are several US specific variants of the Galaxy S2, but none of them are the GT-I9100.
You sure about the model?
Galaxy S2
i will received it next monday form usa
but he told me the phone is galaxy s2
according to your info. i'm not sure and i afraid if i receive anather phone model .this will be a problem with me.
please advise
There's not a lot we can do to advise you.
Ask the seller yourself .
It's not hard to find out an exact model number.
