[Q] Battery Life in custom roms (Xperia Mini Pro) - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I am running on an Xperia Mini Pro and have tried just about every custom ROM available.
What is the best one for battery life?
FXP (CM 7.2 and 9.0) seem equally bad so far, usually lasting slightly less than a day with very little use. I find that my phone tends to get warm when running these ROMs.
Nero ICS and Hybro ICS seemed to give me between a day and two days.
I can get 2-3 days out of Sony's stock ICS ROM and about the same out of their stock GB rom.
Does anyone have any tips on increasing battery life? I usually run Juice Defender. Why do custom ROMs suffer from such poor battery life compared to Sony's stock ROMs?
---
Thanks,
Tim

Hey,
I would say for the moment stock ICS is the best your going to get. If you want to stay with ICS?
Dont use task killers or anything like that they waste more battery than they save and they mess with android native tasking. Juice defender, I dont know much about it but so I wont comment, but I would say that if you turn off wifi and BT and things when you aren't using then you shouldn't need anything to make your battery last longer. Also make sure the wifi sleep policy is set to 'always stay on' and yeah that should be about it tbh.
Cheers,
Evil

[Q] Best kernel for CM7 nightlies

Hey guys,
I finally installed CM7 a few days a go (nightly #74), and I'm very pleased with it. The only downside, really, is the battery life. It's usable, but it drains at least 40% faster than Samsung-based ROMs.
Most of the power seems to be going to Cell Standby. I hear some of the custom kernels can improve things a lot.
Could those of you who have experimented with different kernels give me a good recommendation for a kernel and/or modem release which will work well? I just don't have time to spend hours digging through hundred-page forum posts these days...
Thanks in advance!
Glitch is good. Battery will be a bit better with a custom kernel but it still won't be as good as Froyo. Just the way it is.
What's your cell standby reading? Percentage of battery use? Also of android system and OS,?
from the amazing Jets Bread
i recommend NEO 9 v5 it has great battery life and its really smooth it comes with led version and no-led
When I ran CM7 Nightlies a while back I always stayed on the Stock Kernel. I guess that since Kernels aren't updated "Nightly" like the Nightlies you shouldn't use other ones. Just my personal preference.
Stock kernel is more stable but other kernels give better battery an there much smoother

[Q] Batterylife question. CM9 Compared with Litening ICS v1??

Litening is back in action with an ICS 4.0.3 version (yeay!) and he used to do a solid job on the old 2.3 Android Rom's. http://z13.invisionfree.com/Litening/index.php?showtopic=1
Have anyone coming from the CM9 ROM tried his new one and if so can they post on battery life impressions?
Litening is better I think.. but you have to try it depends a lot by the users
I've used cyanogenmod 9 for about a day and the battery life is horrible, although I haven't use Litening one must assume it is better than cm9 since it had taken the battery from full to 0% in a few hours with minimal use.

[Q] Need a good ICS rom

Hello
I have just come from a htc sensation with an ICS rom with nova launcher, getting around 20 hours battery life and a no bugs ICS experience with nova launcher and a few tweaks such as miui battery bar, centre clock etc.
I am currently using pure ICS with nova launcher set the way I want and it's very good but the battery lasts about 8 hours and there are no tweaks.
Are there any other ICS roms with better battery life and some tweaks? I can always put nova launcher on top if it is not in the rom.
I don't use the phone an awful lot and have the exact same apps andwidgets as on my sensation, hence why the battery life is strange to me, is this normal for a sgs2?
I was using the same rom , then Andyx from both ics and battery life on both was pants, I then flashed cm9 experimental which is now on nightlies and I think its the dogs bollox, only downside is no USB connect to PC until they fix it, but using from manager premium you don't need a PC anyway everything is straight to the phone, a minor hiccup for an awesome rom

Have you got a link for that rom? I can't find it anywhere
Might as well wait for release of genuine Samsung ICS .

I have been using CM9 and it's working amazing only thing is you need to live with no MTP, video recording and certain other things I forget *thats what google is for* I highly recommend it!

you could try WajkIUI if you like MIUI im on this rom for 2 weeks now and i'm really impressed
you could also wait about 2 weeks for ics to be released officially by Samsung
Whatever happened to trying out ROMs for yourself......
ICS is so 2011 we want Jelly Bean
ALL ICS roms which I've tried are not suitable for day to day use. CM9 by codeworx was the best I tried. better wait for a stable release.

I don't want to try loads of roms, my main concern with my current one is the battery life so testing lots of roms isn't great for me as I need my phone at work, that's why I asked peoples opinions. I just want a nice ICS rom with a few tweaks and good battery life. I hate touch wiz so the official ICS update is no good for me.
The sgs2 is a lot faster than my sensation but with my current battery life I would rather swap back to the slower phone and get nearly three times the battery life.
There are also a lot of roms for the s2 hence why I asked people rather than trying loads and they also get updated nearly every day.
I suggest you don't go for ics just yet if your only real concern is battery and as for tw, tough luck I'm afraid.
Try the latest stock gb with neak custom kernels. Best battery life I ever had. Oh and on the subject of best roms, that's totally down to personal configuration.

Yes but ICS is a beta test rom base why not wait for roms to be built on the actual working firmware . I have yet to see one ICS beta based rom that does not have a problem or two and they tend to be random and varied judged by all the help ICS rom xxx dont work posts . Plus battery life is not that good on the leaks .
You might get ten replies that ICS zzz rom is good but wont see the hundred users that have removed it .

If its any help, i'm using AndyX ROM v5.3. I haven't updated it yet to v6.0 since that has problems with the camera and gallery. Resurrection ICS is really nice but it makes my phone hot for some reason so i dont use it.
You may want to try this one:

IMHO, best ICS rom out there. Using it for 5 days now (heavy user) - not a single FC in 5 days, very stable, fast, customization options rock! Battery life 12 hours really heavy usage / 24 hours moderate usage. No bugs, except video not saving and no FM radio, but these are known...

[Q] AOSP vs Touchwiz

Hi all,
I keep reading but I don't seem to find a definite answer for this question. I read somewhere that because of i9300 processor (samsung didn't reveal the codes or sth) the performance and battery life on Custom ROM based on AOSP and CM is not as satisfactory as Stock or Touch-wiz based roms.
Is this true? I love to use CM but the battery indeed seems to drain faster. Any idea of when i9300 users might get to use solid AOSP or CM based ROMs?
Thanks mates!
I am curious about this too. It seems that AOSP ROMS will always be imperfect as long as the Exynos codes arent released.

I have messed around with a few ROMS (mainly sammy based one's) and using a SAMMY ROM with a new launcher is a strong base.
Why not start by finding a good sammy based ROM (i'm using Viking ROM although may switch to HyperLight) get a nice setup, then you can simply backup and mess with ASOP & CM yourself knowing you have a rock solid alternative to fall back on.
You can make up your own mind then ^^

Cm10 is rock stable and has better battery life than sammy. (For me) but camera has some problems. Just try it. You can always revert it to sammy

CM10 is still nightly build right? I tried some ROMs like slimbean and liquid smooth but the battery performance is significantly not as good as stock. Am i right?
Yes right...
The stock ROM gives awesome battery life...
I tried CM10 but it seems to drain battery faster...i mean not that faster...
On my galaxy sl i9003 you cant even imagine what actually battery drain is....
Life 7hrs and gone but on my S3 the battery is OK about a day or day and a half and still 34% left !!

Wah. A day and a half??? I can't even achieve it with stock rom. What kind of tweaks do you use?
I just rooted a while ago and have just been flashing ROM this and that. Have never tried custom kernels or mods.
Would love to hear some tweaks that will last me 1.5 days with CM10. haha. Share with me bro.
If you can tolerate the few minor issues/glitches here and there, nothing beats CM10.

okay. So i do not need any kernel and tweaks for excellent battery life is it?
tried so often cm9&cm10, lately slimbean.
was AOSP fan on my desire, but not on the s3 (yet)
none of them made me stick to AOSP for more than 1week...
too many "bugs" - minor things who annoyed me like: **** camera&video (unstable), battery life, calling bugs (low voice volume) etc
ive to admit that slimbean + siyah kernel beats everything, the battery life is rly nice (nearly liek sammy roms). siyah kernel helps alot concerning the battery life on AOSP!
still ive to use a sammy rom cuz of stability and reliability.
id look forward to a fully working AOSP rom, hopefully soon.

What good is a ROM that is stable (as in doesn't crash) but ISN'T fully functional (as in has issues w/ hardware) ?
I want a ROM that is both stable and fully functional, even if it isn't the benchmark champion.
For me, the stock ROMs offer the best of the 2 worlds: they are stable and functional.
Yeah, let the flame start, but I am yet to see an AOKP/AOSP/CM ROM that doesn't have a single issue with hardware.
So, stock ROMs for me are the winner.
I use NOVA Launcher Prime, BTW, but the TouchWiz that came with today's stock JB (France, XEF) is extremely fast and as customizable as Nova Launcher.

any ICS rom should be best for battery life, i have experienced many JB roms (all are based on munjeni's port? so it's actually the same rom with some tweaks) and they drain the battery very fast, which gets me to the second issue, you should check what kernel you are using, because that can make a difference too, what governors you are using, if you are using greenify or amplify to reduce system load.
anyway, the sola is a poor phone, except for the dual core cpu i find it very problematic, with the touchscreen errors while charging, battery drain jumps (all of a sudden 20% of the battery goes away), charging problems and so on, it's an experiment sony tried but it seems it didn't work out that well, the floating touch which I think is the source of all these problems never caught on and was not added to any device since then, still the sola is a special device for the ones that want a phone with special features (e.g. the only phone in the world with floating touch).
