Firmware 67 on firmware 73 - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Would it be a problem if I flashed a pre rooted system img for v
Firmware 67 on my xperia s with firmware 73?

Yes. You need a prerooted image matching your system version. If you just want root, I suggest you flash doomkernel or advanced stock kernel.

Choose advanced stock kernel then, the only differences from stock are recovery and auto rooting.

The error is probably with the rom and not with the kernel, because with the stock rom works perfectly...
After flashing this kernel my neo v gets rooted on .62 stock ROM ....
but will this rooted ROM work if i change the kernel to something else like nightelf stock kernel .... ???
or have anyone tested it yet ???
let me know ....

Root privileges are integrated in this kernel. So you will not stay rooted almost for sure, if you flash another kernel which is not prerooted...

You will be able to update normally to ICS using PC companion, but to be ablolutely sure, you better relock your bootloader before the update...
@bbooff: few days ago I flashed ICS beta from sony page, and I used your kernel for hot boot just so I can install zip with superuser stuff.
Today I flashed stock .62fw, and wanted to hot boot with your kernel, but no luck, I needed to flash it in order to boot into CWM.
You got any idea why id did cooperate on ICS and not on clean .62
Also I couldn't do factory reset while I was using your kernel. I guess that is kinda normal as it's not stock kernel, but still I thought it should work

I have no idea!
The opposite is what should had happened.
I think that if you reinstall 0.62 (using flashtool and not wotan) and then my kernel, everything will be o.k.
If you install a custom kernel, you can do a factory reset through the cwm menu.

Actually I did used flashtool.
After I flash your kernel I can enter cwm. problem is if I try hot boot it.
and about factory reset, I know we can do it via recovery, but is it normal that we can't do it from phone?

What exactly do you mean by "hot boot"?

fastboot boot boot.img
it allows you to boot with kernel without flashing it.
your kernel is very good.... simple and easy... helped me restore my phone back...
But now i am facing one more problem...
whenever I try to install any other kernel through fastboot, that kernel does not work; instead your kernel starts booting up...
Can you please throw some light on it?
Thnx

Question about installing new rom

Hello all. I decided to install Hybrom on my Xperia mini pro (sk17i) but i'm little confused at the moment and don't know what to do. I have installed CM 7.2.0 rom with FreeXperia kernel. If i want to install the Hybrom, i just need to flash stock firmware via flashtool, install Clockwork once again, then install some custom kernel like Rage and then install the rom? Or do something else? And do i need to relock the bootloader to flash stock firmware?
Install stock firmware, install kernel, install ROM. That's all. No relock needed. Custom kernel already includes Recovery so it is not needed.

And when i flash firmware, wipe is automatically done so i don't need to do it manually?

Flashing stock firmware - if you choose it in Flashtool, then yes.
Custom - no, you have to do it yourself before installing the ROM.

Thank you, I really appreciate your answer, but I have one last question. Does the firmware already include rom and kernel, or rom only? And do I have to install newer baseband to it to make the custom rom work?

Stock firmwares in .ftf file already include ROM and kernel both.
Most custom ROMs have their own custom kernel that you need to install yourself. Sometimes it is written in the topic as separate download link, sometimes it is included inside the .zip file, then you need to extract it and flash via fastboot. Check my tutorial, if you need help with it.
Baseband will depend on the custom ROM.

[REQ] Xperia mini pro sk17i 4.0.2.A.0.58 stock kernel

Could someone please host xperia mini pro sk17i 4.0.2.A.0.58 stock kernel, just the kernel. I've made a nandroid backup, but when i'm trying to restore it, i'm having a bootloop, i guess i need to flash the kernel after i flash with a custom one. Tried to search in this forum, but no success. Or is it any other method to which i can extract the kernel from nandroid backup? Currently i'm using kamarush v3 kernel with cwm v5.0.27. thanks in advance.

I searched for the kernel, too. Just flash the kernel.sin from the .58 ftf.
Or try Rage Kernel for 2.3.4 or X kernel
Download this ftf file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341460
and use Flashtool to flash just kernel.sin .(uncheck everything else )
That should be equivalent to flashing stock kernel

i've read those thread, but that's not what i'm looking for. The whole ftf file is 260 mb while the kernel only would be aroud 10-15 mb in size. What I'm looking for is stock GB kernel only.

Yes it works with rage kernel for 2.3.4. It works great, I tried it!
The thing with the kernel is okay, but if it doesn't work flash the whole rom, don't exclude anything, your phone will boot up. Root it and install cwm. Then you can restore your old backup...

Okay. then, do this.
Choose any ROM you like.
Flash via Flashtools base firmware(If you choose a GB rom then Flash any Gingerbread Stock Firmware, if you choose an ICS then flash any ICS Stock Firm..)
Flash any compatible kernel
Turn your phone on and enter cwm Recovery
Flash te ROM and do all wipes that ROM requires(its on OP of the ROM you 've selected)
Reboot and hope it works well!
Hope this can solve your problem

FYI : if you already unlock the bootloader, you don't have to root it anymore....just flash any custom kernel into your phone...all custom kernel is pre-rooted and have CWM be default....
flash any custom kernel first, then you can install any custom roms or official roms with losing your root....
hello, do u fix it? i have similar problem with original firms. with android 4.0 doesnt work, its start rebooting and downgroun in 2.3.4 works better but its reboot too.
how can i do???
thanks

Yup that's about it.
And you flash custom kernel with fastboot, that will save you tha hassle of rooting and installing CWM recovery..

Can we use this method in xperia sola too? So we flash the stock firmware directly by using flashtool and then the kernel, and in any part of the process do we need to wipe anything at all?
Thanks in advance
