Got my S3 yesterday and tried to set up my hotmail using MS exchange to get push email, it worked but only the text comes through. Anyway to set it so that images and layout are loaded also?
U used these settigns right?
Domain: [email protected]
Exchange Server: m.hotmail.com
SSL: enabled
Password: password
Also try in Hotmail-Settigns-Hotmail-Show images & Auto Download Attachments & Size to retrieve email (all)
Those are my settings and it works

Using MS Exchange, only Exchange Server 2007+ supports HTML. If you are using Exchange Server 2003, you won't be able to access HTML mail.

That's what I've got it set too. I have just noticed that at the bottom of each message is a "Load more details" button that loads the HTML versions, not sure why this isn't automatic though?

Hi Guys,
I am running the Phoenix 3.0 Rom based on WM6.5 I believe.
On the boxed rom I could sync with my hotmail account fine. Now with this ROM, any attempt to use hotmail as your email account forces you to use windows live and web interface to your email (horrible).
I got around this issue by using the help from this forum and not putting the word 'hotmail' into the email address and then telling the settings to use pop and smtp servers that are the ones used by hotmail.
However, now I get copies of my hotmail emails to my phone but not a proper sync. ie. I get the same emails on my phone as I do on the web but if i read or delete them on my phone, I still have to do the same on the web. Can anyone tell me a fix for this or am I stuck with having to manage the same emails in both places?
Thanks.

Is ther a way to download the entire message, with graphics, by default.
And all the contents of my folders??
Thanks.
Please ask questions specific to a certain ROM in that ROM's thread. Helps keep things neater here.

Unfortunately that doesn't work. It's asking for Protocol imap server, server port??? help pls
The error message i get is as follows "Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account infor. Your server is not responding"
Bloody hotmail!!!
My girlfriend has just got a hero and in the shop I was saying "yeah, you'll be able to collect your hotmail email fine"
However, it appears that you need to upgrade to a hotmail plus account for £14.99 per year to let you collect hotmail emails via pop3 or imap. While that's not a lot, I didnt want to have to pay it if I dont have to.
So I set up email forwarding from her hotmail account to the google account setup on her Hero.
Normally, you cant forward emails from hotmail to non-hotmail or microsoft hosted domains without having the Hotmail plus account
Then I stumbled accross this at android community forums, posted by somone called 71CH so credit goes to them.
* Login to your Hotmail account
* Go to options
* Go to "Mobile Alerts for new messages" under the "Customize your mail" heading
* Type in your mobile phone number
* You'll then receive a text message with a pin number
* Type in the pin number
* Then select the option telling Hotmail Not to send you any text messages
* Go back to options and click on "Forward mail to another e-mail account"
* You'll now see that the restrictions for forwarding are now gone
* You can forward to any account you please.

POP server: pop3.live.com
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example [email protected]
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes
Thanks will give that a try
i think a couple of months back, POP3 access was enabled on all hotmail accounts.
That's the same work around for the iPhone the only problem is when you sign into hotmail on the web the emails come up as not viewed.

HTC - Hotmail
I've got Hotmail to send emails to my phone, no probs.
But, my phone won't send hotmail emails out, can someone pls tell me how to resolve all this..?
just bough this fone, love it so far, even better than my wife's iphone 3GS.but 1 think with the IP i can setup YAHOO MAIL very easy, but i use email features in my HERO it doesnt work, can u guys show me how?thanks
http://www.htc.com/hero/m/en/howtos/howto_email.html
Thats the way i did for my HERO but no luck, just wonder,i dont pay POP3 features for my email, but IPHONE i can access it,but with HERO i cant?can u guys help me out?
You sure you have the right settings?
* Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop3.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
* Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
* Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the “@yahoo.com”)
* Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected])
* Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
Also did you enable "Web & POP Access" in you Yahoo control panel?
You have to pay £10 a year for Yahoo 'plus' in order to get POP access to it
If you have an email address @yahoo.co.uk, then you can access with pop without the charge.
@justbabu I have a @yahoo.co.uk email address. You used to be able to get POP access if you accepted themed adverts from yahoo and could simply deselect all the categories to get pop access without adverts. They stopped this about a year and a half ago and since then you have to pay for POP as per http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/ma...pop-35.html;_ylt=AunWCAYq.dqicM1lFIB2kr8KzyN4
I tried the advert to set yahoo mail up on your mobile they then give you specific settings for you to use and send you an SMS for activation.
Look for the advert when you log into yahoo email.

This appears to be a bad idea, a very bad idea as all sent emails are sent from your new account that is your mobile number. Which may not be that good if sending emails to people you do not know.

My emails from my msn account sync fine when I first add the account to the touchpad email client. After I close the program and go back to it though it stops syncing new emails. The refresh icon constantly is revolving as well. I tried setting up the account through the auto setup and also through the microsoft exchange and the same thing happens either way. New msn emails show up on my iphone and then I wait and check the touchpad. They never show up. Any ideas?
I googled the problem and found one instance of someone having the same problem as me. Follow the link http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/295126-proper-hotmail-settings-touchpad-help.html
No one there seemed to be able to answer the question. Anyone here have any ideas?
My MSN mail syncs just fine along with my Yahoo Mail. WebOS set up a POP folder in my MSN account the first time it linked. Not sure why some are having issues. I just thought I would let you know that, at least for some of us, the MSN mail works fine.

Is your account an @msn.com or @hotmail.com. Mine is @msn.com. Not sure if it makes a difference or not.

Mine is a MSN account.
problem solved
If anyone else is having this problem, it is solved. A user from the HP forums gave me the correct settings on how to set it up. For the server name, make sure you leave the https:// before the m.hotmail.com. These settings worked perfectly and I have not had a problem receiving MSN emails since.
"Is this a hotmail.com or live.com account? If so you need to set the account up as an exchange account with theses settings:
*
Account Type: Exchange
Server Name: m.hotmail.com
User Name: your entire email address
Password: your password
*
Under accounts you need to choose the items you want to sync: Mail, Calendar, Contacts, GAL (address lookup). I would delete out the account and re-create it fresh."

I read that if you set it up as an exchange account your emails will be shown only in text and not in html (with images, etc.), which sucks.

Yeah that is the one downfall but if you read the initial post I couldn't receive any emails at all. So I guess this is the next best solution until something else surfaces. Let me know if you find a better way to get msn to receive emails on the touchpad.
I am able to login and the folders are all synced up yet there is no mail and I cannot send out emails using yahoo email as a premium email account.
Works if it is automatically setup as POP account though.
I have the basic Yahoo email account, but I am able to put it in my phone's email program with IMAP settings.
Manually setup email.
Username: (full email address)
Password: (password)
Incoming Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993 SSL (Accept all Certificates)
Outgoing Server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993 Port: 465 SSL (Accept all Certificates)

hm, I don't get push notifications unlike if I use premium samsung social hub though...and there's a problem, I only get emails up to mid october. The newer emails do not load at all!
You wont get push, as that is only for Exchange accounts (like gmail).
Why go through the Samsung Social Hub? Have you tried the default email program?
I actually use Enhanced Email app, just because at the time the standard email app only synced the up to the previous 30 days. Although that may have changed.

Samsung social hub, the email client at least, gives Push for all emails if set as premium account...hotmail, gmail etc. until yahoo stopped working...
well at least I think it's push under the premium account since I can't set the frequency for it to sync
and today it works! Weird stuff
