I use and app called Screebl. It was free app of the day one day on the amazon app store. It uses the accelerometer when the screen is on to keep the screen on when it is held and an angle that you set it to. When the phone is laid flat face down or up the screen will go off after the amount of time you set but as long as your holding it at any other angle the screen will stay on. Here's the free version on the market

I think the link you provided in that thread is more beneficial than linking to a link!
there is absolutely no reason for that feature not being present on our device , other then samsung wishes to push purchase of the latest toy , if someone can confirm there is nothign on the kernel side for this , I can most probably port whats missing in the frmaework ...

What I am hoping is that once ICS Sources are released for our phone and SG3 (if it is not out already), we can get a full ROM port.

I believe SG3 source was published this week, so we may see some of the framework-specific capabilities ported over soon.
Here is the source for the AT&T Galaxy S3

Been watching, nothing yet. :crying:
I did read that the video pop up window is present on the stock ICS for the Note. So really we are missing the Smart Stay screen only. If the stories are true that is. I have not tested it myself yet.
You can do the pop up videos by using the app super video

Hello! Can anyone confirm if our Note gets the video editor app? I haven't seen it on any of the reviews for our version.

I asked Tim Stevens (Engadget's Editor-in-chief) in their GDGT Q&A after the review went up about it. He confirmed they aren't there and Samsung hasn't said anything about whether or not they will make them available. Hopefully, we can find a way to port them if Samsung never releases them.

Thanks so much for the response! I can deal with the flimsy box. I can deal with the earbuds being removed. I hate the fact that S Pen based apps have been removed, either by Samsung or AT&T. I really hope that someone is able to port them from the international version.
Did you try looking in the Samsung app market to see if it can be downloaded

The US version also doesn't have the same Samsung Note app store as the international version so you can't see it sadly.

Man i wish XDA would come up with some way to sort through all the information that is available on the forums! Maybe some kind of tool where you could enter one or more key words and the tool finds information and
displays it for you. They could call it " Find Tool",..nah how about "Seek Tool", nah.ooooh ooh I know, "Search Tool" yeah, that's what they should call it. That would be awsome!!!!l
Maybe one day.....

Sadly ...No
We lack the kernel source needed to make the rom usable.
The note 2 uses much different CPU architecture, and is not compatible with the note 1.
Hopefully Samsung will release source....but I'm not holding my breath....g

Everyone who responded here comprehended your question. Do you see the stickie at the top of the forum about JB? It clearly states that all questions regarding JB must be posted in that thread. Please read more carefully, and thank you for not cluttering xda with frivolous threads.

I need to know what the current issues are with both ICS and JB. Which will work better for me? Kinda a noob...be patient.

I have s4 and it is not actually eye tracking. It just senses phone movement (or head movement but it is not working for me, anyway you can choose it in Options: head or phone movement).
So it is very possible to introduce it to s3.
It"s All a gimmicks...

Only ram may be a problem
of course it's possible, it's the same technology as smart stay
I don't think its related to ram, s3 can support it as it already has smart stay function which is similar to eye tracking.

I already got that update in May. It was called birthday gift from my wife.
BTW it may be called eye tracking but basically it tracks the head. Slight tilt of head upwards or downwards cause the page to scroll up or down. There is another option instead to choose which is the gyro based scrolling. I prefer using head tracking.
I got the 1080p update yesterday.. it came with the 2GB.. surprisingly now we have 3GB of RAM.. must be a bug.
They also added fingerprint scanning.
-_-' No seriously this is pointless.. we're not messengers here.. it comes when Samsung decides to roll it out.
i really want to make a rom, but i can't think of anything new. everything seems created already.
any ideas?
anything i should try?
