[Q] ICS email for s3? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hate the default Samsung Galaxy S III email app, is there an email app similar to ICS email?

Have you tried ICS email itself? From say, CM9? I swap out the SecMMS.apk with CM9 as I prefer it. Well thats a lie. That works but I found a black one elsewhere.
Only difference is I have to name it SecMMS.apk instead of keeping its original name of MMS.apk.
Of course you may not be rooted though?

there 's loads of decent email apps if you look on play store .. k9, maildroid, etc ... or enhanced email which i use its a gr8 email client but its not free

Erm, what exactly are you asking here? Someone to theme the app?
You can list by sender, go to the inbox and press the menu key and tap list by
Why are you using touchdown? The sgs2 email app is based off Seven email.. it's the best email app for android and i've tried every single one there.. k9, maildroid, touchdown, kaiten mail, moxier, improved email, enhanced email, roadsync etc
What do you mean by merging personal with corporate? Do you mean a unified inbox?

I have the Gmail v2.3.5 installed & it is working just fine.
Not sure but I seem to remember that you need to be rooted to install the blacked out version.

What do you mean by "blacked out" version? Pls explain in detail.
It's a modded version. Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191870&highlight=blacked
The OP was in fact referring to this modded version.
I also have 2.3.5 original installed in my unrooted SGS2 and of course this one works like a charm.

Baah! I saw the screen shots in that thread, and if the only difference between a "blacked out" gmail 2.3.5 and a normal gmail 2.3.5 is the inverted color of the background, then what's the fuss about? If you want black backround and grey text, then you already have that in Social Hub. Just access your gmail from Social Hub if you like the background to be black. What's the big deal
The hub is bloatware. It's buggy and less functional than the original app. I much prefer the white background gmail app than hub's email app, even considering the highest power drained by the white theme.
In addition, the original email app has push protocol that i like much, and better label/directory management!

I don't consider the Social Hub to be bloatware.....neither have I experienced any bugs in it. It's a useful tool for seeing all your email, sns & message streams in one place. Although I personally prefer other dedicated professional apps for my social networks, I use the Social Hub for all my various email accounts. It bifurcates the mails according to dates, which the gmail app does not.
Yes, apps like Yahoo finance, Readers Hub, Games Hub are definitely bloatware. To each his own. Cheers!
What I don't like of the email client of the Social hub is that it is the one included by default in android, which is not push type and every email I send with it, is wrongly reported by the client as being sent twice: the first correctly, and the second to a long list of duplicated addressees... In addition every email received is notified both in the hub and in the default email client, but clearing one notification does not automatically clear also the other so every email notification has to be cleared twice.
However I do reckon that's just my personal experience with it, so perhaps others more good than me at configuring it may not find it so bad.

Hi, everybody..
I have a little question for the community,
Is there a way to replace on CM9 or CM10, email, exchange and calendar app with the ICS 4.0.4 SAMSUNG stock application?

Thank's for your answer, sorry for the reply on retard
k9 is not for me, i need use active sync on exchange, i tried moxier but contacts are not fully integrated with the phone address book, is not possible using phone/address book application to add a contact on exchange is mandatory use moxier app.
I need using also S/MIME extension to sign and crypt messages.
I think, at the moment, Sammy's email, calendar apps ICS/JB is the best interface for exchange.
On CM9/10 there is another problem with phone app, is not possible to add contact on FDN list, instead on Sammy phone app this feature work correctly.
At the moment i use WanAmLite ICS 4.0.4 rom and everything work fine, but CM10 is faster and stable.
Thank's for support

Stock e-mail vs Gmail app

So folx, tell me which one do you prefer and why?
Im currently using Gmail app, but i wanted to ask for your oppinion.. Im in dillema between gmail app and stock email app for @gmail.com mails..
Thanks
In stock email you can attach all types of files. Which is impossible in gmail app that offer to attach only a video or a picture.

Other than that ? Can you decrease font in stock app ?
i use stock app because of other site's mail account.
but using gmail app seems to be nice, too
stock has support for air view (awesome), multiple accounts (gmail, yahoo, aol, etc), nice widget
Well, one thing that is keeping me off the stock is following :
I have student email on my university... And i merged that with gmail acc, and it is set up on gmail account so when i go compose new on gmail i can choose from which account to send... I cant do that on stock email app
R: Stock e-mail vs Gmail app
I have attached several times non-video, non-photo files, just using total commander as backend.

I don't get much time to play with my phone, but if I had time I'd uninstall that crappy Gmail app.
I can't say a single advantage of it over the stock email app. I like the email sent notification of stock email app if that's an advantage, I like smooth multi touch it provides, I like how the body of an mail is formatted and so on so on...
That update of Gmail app have saved it from at least 10000 uninstallation, if that's the word, Lol.

You've gotta be kidding me right?
Gmail 4.2.1 is the very definition of smoothness.
Stock email app is choppy as hell, even in this monster of fast and smooth phone.
Don't get me wrong, with the new MA5 update, stock email is much smoother than before, but still pales in comparison to Gmail
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Two differences that I know of:
1. The gmail app syncs chats but the stock email app doesn't.
2. The email notification generated by gmail when a user receives a ping when he or she is offline is synced by the gmail app but not by the stock app.

Hi
How to remove or disable gmail app? i dont want to use it
I came from iPhone and i've noticed problems in both apps.
- Gmail: No unified inbox, conversation view can be better (like iOS stock Mail app)
- Mail: No conversation view at all (and it's definitely not a good thing) and no push mail from gmail
In my daily usage i use gmail for the push service and the conversation view. But i think that iOS mail app and Gmail for iOS are better.
I've used all the other mail clients for Android and every app has some problem.

You can use the m.google.com exchange server, although I don't know how much longer that will exist.
I hate the black background on Stock Email, if you driving in car you will have problems to read, that is better on white background wit black fonts like on gmail app! So i would like only getting white background on stock mail app! Everything elese works (but surely, on my HTC ONE X) it`s much smoother! I´m on Omega 11 in moment!

I hate conversation view and that's why I disabled it in Gmail settings, maybe that's why I don't see conversation view in Gmail app as well. How do you enable conversation view in Gmail app?
And the stock email app has an option of conversation view. You can see it by pressing menu. However I don't know what it does as I haven't used it yet.
And the email client in iOS is way better than any Android client I've ever used.

You could use 'negative colours' under Accessibility. It'll make the background white. Just make a shortcut of Accessibility option which is accessible via Post key.
Also you could use the lighter email text mod of Xposed, not bad.

You can attach any file type in gmail.
If you have a file explorer installed, click attach picture, choose your file explorer as the method and then pick the file you want.
A bit dumb that you have to do it that way but it works. Lol.
I use each alternatively depending on who I'm emailing.
Also my gmail pushes mail just fine

I personally disabled the stock email app and replaced it with Aqua Mail.
I find it perfect for what I need.
Gmail app only has a problem: can´t attached all file types, so I´m using both aplications; gmail app only with gmail account and stock email with hotmail account to attached all file types.
Regards from Spain!

[Q] Replacement Stock Email App

My wife recently switched from Gmail to a Hosted Exchange. She dislikes the stock App that comes with her Galaxy S2 and wants something that is more like the gmail app, especially conversation view etc.
What good apps exist as replacements? She is happy to pay.
