HI All,
I'm moving to the Rezound from a Droid Charge that I had lots of issues with, and so I have a few questions. First I'm impressed with the amount of the Dev activities. I've never seen so many different ROMS for a phone.
I'm used to using ODIN and CWM to root my phone and install custom ROMS/kernels.
I've found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641670 to help me on rooting the new phone. From Reading the forum here, it seems that Amon-Ra is the best version of recovery to go with.
My questions have to do with What ICS ROM should I install? Which has the least problems and best battery life? The same for a kernel.
I'm still not quite sure about the S-On/S-Off thing. I basically want to get on ICS and get rid of Bloat. I'm not planning on going S-Off yet, but if I do flash a kernel, I'd go with the ph98img.zip method (at least for now).
Does the Rezound have Gorilla Glass or do I need to get a screen protector for it? The Charge had GG (or so I was told) and I never put a protector on it.
What is the best case for both with the standard battery and the extended battery?
The Phone just arrived. It did come with the standard back, but no battery and support says I should get that tomorrow.

alright. here we go!
1. yessir amon ra is da best.
2. as for ics rom, if you want sense 4 go with newts or team pkmn, for sense 3.6 id say go with con rom. if you want senseless, go with con rom and choose the de-sense option. as for kernel, the only real ics kernel is sebastians, which is good for overclocking.
3. S-OFF Immediately!! its great because you can go right back to stock if necessary, also you have to htcdev unlock to be able to s-off
4. im not sure about the gorrila glass. my screen is cracked from a fall, so its not the best.
5. best stock case is a CruzerLite case, hands down. as for extended, there are that many cases. i know there are some that fit around it though. cruzerlite cases WONT work with extended battery.
Also, say goodbye to odin. to reset your phone, we use RUU's which are either on phone or ran as a .exe file.
also, htcdev unlock. its pretty much necessary for flashing and even to go s-off. when flashing amon ra, you can either use fastboot commands which are a pain, or flash this in the bootloader.
all this stuff is easier then it sounds. just make sure to read up before attempting and if you have any questions, dont hesitate to inbox me

Amon Ra is the best recovery, but you can use TWRP as well
My questions have to do with What ICS ROM should I install? Which has the least problems and best battery life? The same for a kernel.
It depends if you like sense 3.6, 4.0, or stock/AOSP
If you like sense 3.6, Scott's Cleanrom or Cleanrom Pro or Con's Conrom v4
If you like sense 4.0, try out Newts One XxX or PKMN's Venusaur Rom
If you like stock/AOSP, try Scott's Cleanrom DE or Conrom desensed
I'm still not quite sure about the S-On/S-Off thing. I basically want to get on ICS and get rid of Bloat. I'm not planning on going S-Off yet, but if I do flash a kernel, I'd go with the ph98img.zip method (at least for now).
For what you seem to need, your best bet would just be unlock and try S-OFF at a later time (I'm still s-on if it makes you feel any better )
Does the Rezound have Gorilla Glass or do I need to get a screen protector for it? The Charge had GG (or so I was told) and I never put a protector on it.
DEFINITELY get a screen protector, no GG here
What is the best case for both with the standard battery and the extended battery?
Personally I don't use a case, I've dropped mine a few times with no problems, but if you really want a case, I'd suggest a Cruzerlite or an Otterbox, I have no idea about the extended battery cases though...

Welcome sir. You made a good choice with the Rezound the screen, processor and camera are all top notch.
So to start you will want to see what it gets shipped with is it gingerbread or ICS?
I can help you root it either way actually did both ways.
As for roms here is what I suggest. You will start by RUU and then back that up so you can always go back. After that the best starting point is Scotts ROM. I would use their Rezound forums they have always been really helpful. The nice thing about Scotts is if you would rather not go S-OFF yet it still works as it has the same base as stock or the RUU. To be honest with you see how you like stock after you flash the RUU as Sense has gotten better its nice to at least try your manufacturer settings(I cant live without HTC clock app).
BUT and this is the thing the best ROMs are mostly S-OFF because alot of them are based off the ONE series and have alot of great tweaks(Scotts does as well) but Sense 4.0 is a big imporvement and TEAM PKM ROMS are really fast, really stable, and great developers.
SO here is what I am suggesting for you(Start by unlocking through HTCDEV.com
1.) ROOT
2.) Flash Amon Ra(CWM is buggy)
3.) Flash RUU (Stock ICS)(this will break root but you can get it back as I remember)
4.) Back up Stock ROM
5.) Try Sotts Roms http://www.scottsroms.com/content.php (The directions for this process is on the Forum)
6.) Proceed with S-OFF http://www.droid-life.com/2012/04/22/htc-rezound-finally-receives-s-off-via-juopunutbear-tool/
7.) After this try either Scotts Dev Edition 1.4 Stock ICS (No Sense) or Team PKMN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630696
Any other questions feel free to ask. These sites will help alot in your Journey

Also the battery is not great decent but nothing special. SO buy an extra battery and this charging dock which charges the phone and battery simultaneously
http://www.amazon.com/RND-Power-Sol...d=1340143349&sr=8-1&keywords=HTC+rezound+dock
I just charge at night and put the extra battery in my wallet and I have battery all day no problems. You cna pretty much leave 4g on all day, screen on full brightness, and GPS and never worry about it.
Case I bought this one and a pack of screen protectors the case is cheap but its nice and fits perfectly

Thanks for the replies. What is the difference between Sense 3.6 and 4.0?
Where can I see and play with Sense 4.0?
I've never used sense and have no clue about them. Also if I go Senseless, what is the launcher in the ROM? I've been using Go Launcher EX on my Charge and like it. Is Nova or Apex better than Go or Sense?

here we go again!
1) sense 4 is not made for our device. people like Joelz, newt and bored ported it over. it is cooler IMO but a bit buggy/laggy for some. its come a long way. sense is basically HTC's skin which is pretty basic for anyone to pickup and enjoy.
2) id say go with Apex. i think it has more in the free version. the paid versions make them equal. i used to like go but now it kinda meh

Sense 4.0 has a much cleaner look, less unnecessary files, a few more features and more eye candy, albeit with more bugs/glitches.
Look at one of the Roms I'm the development section to see Sense 4.0
If you go senseless, I think most roms include Apex launcher (Cleanrom DE does at least) personally I like Apex better than go or sense, but some people say the sense 3.6 and 4.0 Rosie (sense launcher) are smoother than Apex or Nova or Go or what have you. I would say Rosie is smoother, but I prefer the stock ICS look.
Edit: Argh again!

Sense 4.0 jsut has a cleaner look. Better Music Player which is nice. Camera is different(but some features are buggy because it is a One X Rom) Overall they are slight changes but you notice them .
droid-life.com does a great review of the ONE X that should help give you an idea. Sense has alot of nice features to it, its heavy due to animations and things as such , but overall 4.0 lessens this issue. OR go to an AT&T store and check out the ONE X
Apex Launcher seems to be the choice for msot ROM makers and is a really great replacement I would choose that. One Nice thing about NOVA is that its made by tesla coil so it integrates with Widget Locker

So my mom got a 3VO recently, and I threw CM7 on there for her.
However, it's too buggy, and having never really messed with any other stable roms, I come to you XDA.
Only requirements are
Stable
Good battery life.
Works with Sprint TV
Has a customizable notification drawer.
Works with ADW
Shouldn't be too hard right?
Thanks!
P.S. I also have a 3VO if that matters
P.P.S. Mods feel free to move if this is in the wrong section.
Try chogardjr3d.
I'd go with cleanrom
Something stock feeling would be best I believe till she gets use to it and/or bored of it.
Sent from inside my Pokéball
I don't think your mom would get "bored" with a ROM. That's a sentiment expressed by flash junkies like us...
She seems like a cool mom though if she likes flashing (had to go there)
I like the Infected Eternity ROM but I'm probably going to go back to Viper ROM when they finish their super secret project. Those are the only two I would recommend for your mom. Don't put her on any AOSP ROM until 4G Wimax is working. Unless she is ok with slow(er) speeds.
MOM ROM?
MOMROM?
MOMrom?
I offer no suggestions. Scratch that, Ill also vote for Clean. I dont use it personally but it would be good for a MOM ROM.
Why not just leave it stock?(rhetorical)

Miui ex: my mom uses!
Miui is the rom I'd suggest sure she will loose her 4G,3D but she will gain an easy to use phone and lots of hidden goods in it too don't be afraid to give her a good old 5 minute lesson one she picks up Miui she will thank you trust me!
my "MOM" has sense on her 3VO when she first got it after a week she kind of got lost in it I said why don't you use what I use? she said its probably way to complicated lol then I told her ok go to your Wifi settings, she paused for 15 secs trying to remember how to do that she did turn it off after 1 minute of searching of course I didn't help her lol I was just trying to prove a simple point...
Yes I am aware certain SENSE/AOSP roms have the same features!
I could sell anyone my phone with MIUI on it give me 15 minutes of there time and they will instantly want there phone like it.
put MIUI on your mom's phone and set swype as default yes you will have to download the beta install it and then make sure you go to swype settings and adjust for accuracy and not speed our phones so damn fast anyways it will only make it more accurate and I promise you between the messaging app that's in MIUI and the general layout of the phone she will love you for it!
in short my mother uses MIUI and she wasn't confortable with her phone for a week on sense after 1 day of her bickering on MIUI she was already thanking me on how much she loves her phone now....
both synergy and viper are pretty good

That's too bad.
IMHO, I'd keep her at stock unrooted.
It may become tedious for her to manually update when OTA's are released.
Easier for you to support to.

Personally I would leave her phone on stock or use a ROM that won't change much outside of improving performance. ViperRom is pretty good, doesn't remove 3D functionality.
As you can see there are lots of differing opinions, which is why we have so many ROMs here in the first place. I will however do you a favor and list your 3 best options and reasons why, in no particular order. Take whichever option sounds like it will work best for your mom:
MIUI
This one is probably your best bet if you dont care about losing your 4G and 3D. It gives the best battery life and smoothness of any ROM and is a great match for ADW, Launcher Pro, or Go Launcher EX. It is easy to use, has little to no bugs, and you wont have to worry about OTA updates because it will already be perfect and you wont see OTA notifications anyway so it wont bug your mom that there may or may not be an update. Pair this rom with AnthraX A06 kernel for best results
Stock rooted odex w/ latest update OTA
This is because it will have everything in it that the phone is supposed to have. It will be the simplest for her to deal with issues if she has to take it in to a Sprint store or call customer service or whatever. OTAs shouldnt be an issue but if you accept an OTA you will probably lose root, but that wont matter much anyway since you are trying to keep it stock. Can use ADW if you want or keep it regular Sense since thats what this phone is designed to have. This will not allow you to change notification bar things.
Eternity R81 Sense 3.0
Because it is like stock, but a few useless things are removed, performance is improved, and more stable. R81 has been reported to be nearly flawless with the exception of some GPS issues for some users only. It uses the latest OTA and stock kernel and works great. Very smooth. This has the ability to change quick-settings, the personalize button, and other notification bar things just like you want.

Great breakdown. I've been debating which ROM to flash and this is very helpful.
I was wondering what you guys would say the most stable ics rom is??
Ive been using scotts senseless rom and its been ok just a few problems. before that i had his cleanrom but i just cant like sense that much something about it kinda turns me off..
what do you guys think?
ima add one more question to this thread.. Where i live my signal is finicky as it is but im thinking running ics has made my signal drop is this a problem or is it just me trippin out?

I'm running CleanROM 2.3 completely desensed and it's as stable as Gingerbread.
yeah i was thinking about going back to it to many system ui crashes and other lil bugs in the aosp roms is it updated to the 4.0.3 with sense 3.6?
&& how is it desensed?
I really didn't like the battery life on cleanrom 2.x or desensed. I switched to cleanrom 1.6.5 and getting nice battery life.
I found Nils business sense ICS to be the most stable. But the small pluses of ICS didn't make the cut compared to the battery life and ease of use of Gingerbread. Especially once the new wore off. Back to CleanROM 1.6.5 for me too!
All of the ics roms have the same root issues really- that being blue screen flicker, etc. I'm on nils currently cause I like his out of the box notification mods.
Ics rules but I think may go back to gb (until an official) for some issues that are irking me. Vid chat doesn't work on skype, gchat, etc. Can't crop pics or do certain effects in the gallery. Beats eq is not working correctly. Again, most of these are probs that follow all of the ics roms and the devs have done a fantastic job -but I may just end up going back until these talented folks get their hands on an official build. I think they've reached a point where there's not a whole lot left to do with this current build. But like I said, what they've managed to do with this early build is damned amazing.
i flashed back to clean rom and desensed removed everything and so far it seems alot more stables im not getting any word that things are crashing even when making calls like it did before not to shabby i say plus the gallery from the camera i was having that problem in senslessrom
You guys running ICS, can someone confirm whether the folders are the new ICS folders like the Gnex has.
do you mean the folders in the launcher? then yes if you have the stock ics launcher
I'm loving Business-ICS
The skins, overall stability is pretty awesome. The one huge issue is battery life. On stock, I had it to where I could get at average just under 2 days of battery with my extended (2750mah) battery. With this ROM, with almost nothing running, and leaving the screen low-use, and LTE turned off, etc, I still can't get more than 6 hours at BEST on a full charge! Is anyone else seeing this? Do I need to look at flashing to a ziggy kernel or something? Or is it just part of the leaked ICS that the devs have to work from?
I was getting 10 hours on my stock battery running senseless ics rom with a hour of navigation and pandora on pretty much the whole time (lte disabled) +texting+ facebook and what ever else and i was left with more than 25 %
I've been using Scott's senseless since it was launched its an awesome rom but alot of fc's figured I'd try tachi's senseless 4.0 (which is based off one if Scott's roms) with the USB fix and HTC mms fix and runs super stable best senseless ics I've tried so far. Sounds like there are some pretty good rooms on the way though. Feel free to try them all out and find what you like best though.

I must echo that Tachi's 4.0 rom is pretty good (with the fixes). I can't wait until we get a fully working AOSP rom. Scott's are good as well (the CleanROM 2.3 is actually a bit better than the Senseless, but... has Sense).

Yes, I'm talking about the launcher. When I had the GNex and I created a folder, it showed the icons stacked on top of each other rather than the plain folder that GB has. So the stock ICS launcher on the Rezound shows the icons like the GNex does? I'm asking because I was worried that Sense would not have that feature.

sense doesnt offer this but you can get the aosp launcher pretty easy theres desense scripts that you can run for ics that will give you all this

do not get ics all are unstable and i bricked my phone doing this well my friends extra phone I had to wipe the phone completely clen and starting over. I am downloading all roms tring to find something that works again. but like all post ineffabilis is the only one that comes close to restoreing the phone. I will update later to see if I can restore a dead phone but leave ics only until offical update.
Rezound is coming in tomorrow w/ extended battery and it's very exciting.
I'm not new to roms/mods (my DX has seen it's fair share) But I am new to the whole "unlocked boot loader" goodness =p.
I'm assuming unlocking boot loader, rooting, de-bloating would be my first steps...but after? I truly dislike sense, it looks very tacky IMO.
What would you guys recommend for someone who is coming to this phone for this first time and dislikes sense? I see so many roms in the dev section I'm kind of overwhelmed...
Look in the dev section sticky for the list of roms. Then read on each thread to find out about the quirks with each sensless rom. There arent to many senseless roms.

After you unlock and root, you will want to install Amon RA recovery. Then pick a rom. You probably need to decide if you want GB or ICS, Sense or no Sense. Try them all and see what you like. ICS is pretty stable right now, with the biggest issue being Bluetooth streaming. Be sure to read, read, read before anything! I will say this though... the Rezound is pretty damn hard to brick. I don't know if anyone has actually bricked their phone yet.
Well I've been running ICS on my DX for 3 months and it would be a damn shame to have to go back to GB at this point honestly. Sense looks tacky with its cheap bevel filters "/...especially when compared to stock ICS. So a ICS/De-Sensed ROM would be ideal. Bluetooth streaming? Never used it so If that is the only issue with a particular rom I'm ok with that =)

I'm trying to figure out how to debloat right now...so next step is I can install a kernel correct?
What would be a good one to try for a first timer?
I'd keep the kernel for more experienced stuff.
I use ROM toolbox to freeze my bloatware. But then again if you install a custom rom, more than likely the dev has already debloated most of it. If there is something more that you want, you can always freeze it agian.

I like to use rom toolbox to debloat because it also has other nice features built in and I came from a dx so I've had it for a while. You can install a rom and or kernel now just read carefully for compatibility and such. I had to pop out my SD to delete a ph98img last night because of a main version error. I was scared
Thanks fellas, yeah I had to delete that file after installing AR recovery.
Would either of you happen to share what your fav rom is?
Depends on what you are going for. As I stated in another thread, I've had battery life issues with the ICS roms so I'd recommend the gb versions of cleanrom or rezrom. Both are super smooth. I like the theme of rez but the battery seems better on clean. Best thing to do is try though. Ive been going almost a rom a day haha
Scrossler and Joelz are starting to put in the LeeDroid tweaks, and those are awesome. I'm running Joelz senseless rom now, but Scott's Roms are awesome, and he made a lot of what we had in the "early" days possible.

Joelz is going to drop LeeDroid tweaks for BAMF settings, I believe. Having him in here has been an awesome addition. And yes, without Scrosler, we wouldn't have much of what we do.
Has anyone tried both of these ROMs on the Amaze? I've read all 46 pages of the Revolution forum and several Energy. Both look like they meet my needs. But I'd like a good comparison between them.
My needs:
- Close to stock feel/look (like the blue themes)
- Ability to remove pre-installed apps/bloatware
- Wi-fi calling (must have due to my location)
- Better battery life
- A bit snappier
- Free tethering would be a bonus
I've read that some have experienced texting and mms sending issues with Energy and some say that Revolution is outdated.
I realize YMMV, but I'd appreciate a comparison between the 2. Thanks.

I'm loving Revolution right now... And I ran Energy since the day it came out.
It has the stock feel and way easier to customise. It feels better than the stock Rom I just came from.
They're both easy to debloat and deodexed.
I use my phone so much that I get roughly the same battery life on both.
Both ROMs are very fast and snappy.
I would recommend both... But I'm preferring ARHD right now.
MrMako777 points out a good point though in another threas. ARHD is 1.36 build so no WiFi calling, so if u need that, then Energy would be better (although I prefer stock rooted over energy)

Hmmm. That's a little confusing. On the Revolution Thread, it says that there is "improved wi-fi calling" (from Post #1, ARHD 1.1.0 release date 19 Nov 11). Maybe since I need to have wi-fi calling, I should go with Energy.
Have you had the opportunity to test wi-fi calling with either one? Any issues (notably, the sending problems with Energy or the lack of capability with ARHD)?
Thanks again!
Sorry... Revolution is identical to stock as far as UI look... It is built on 1.36 which the stock 1.36 didn't have WiFi calling. I haven't tested it on revolution, but WiFi calling does work on Energy ROM. There's also a modified messaging apk that fixes a time stamp issue with texts.

Ok. Now I'm leaning towards energy unless I can get more info on WiFi calling in ARHD.
You said that ARHD is more easily customized than Energy. But Energy can still be customized (wallpaper, ringtones, etc), right?

Oh certainly... Wallpapers, Ringtones, Sounds, and even lockrings can be personalized on ALL rooted ROMs... NRGZ28 just has a heavy blue theme on his Rom... On the statusbar icons, dialer, app icons... Etc...
XBoarder has a pretty sick 3.5 ROM also that I'm a big fan of. You can find that at android-dev.us.
Craigtut has an ics themed ROM that is pretty nice also. I can't say too much, but his next update for that ROM is pretty sick

xboarders sense 3.5 rc1.7, great rom (my DD) it's fast, stable, and had great tweaks. though it doesn't leave much room for themes, as m10tools for 3.5 was never well adopted.
for stock 3.0 with a ton of mods i recommend bulletproof 2.5, if ARHD had a current version that would be my go-to as mike1986 is a solid dev.
Good to hear about u liking blue... U will prolly be best off with NRG ROM.
I like the 3.5 (its called Sense 3.5 RC1.7) for it has 3.5 features compared to 3.0... I mainly like the snappiness and loon myself.
Here's what I do. I flash a ROM using 4ext. I backup its stock load. Then I customize. After I have it the way I want and am sure its running stable after I modify it, I do a another backup and delete the old backup. Then I format all partitions (except sd) in the recovery's wipe menu and flash the next ROM... And repeat

It's not everyday someone comments on how about how vibrant and active the Amaze development community was...
There are a few others that I didn't mention from HeyJoe and Chrispaw also here, as well as more at Android-dev.us.
When ICS and s=off happen, it should get even better.

we do have a lot of roms , just no ICS
We have about 15 roms give or take

Well, this phone was really easy to unlock/root. The custom recovery has a lot of interesting options--I see how easy it is now to switch between ROMs when you get bored with one!
For those that are lurking and may be intested in my experience (b/c you'd like to try something like this):
- The "How To Root HTC Ruby" was very helpful. for the overall rooting process Post #2 was a bit confusing (I think there are some links missing). I basically went to the HTCDev website, registered, and followed the unlock instructions on the site.
- I used the Clockword Mod custom recovery (as opposed to what was suggested in the above post). A good thing to note is that when installing a ROM it says to do a reset/wipe, the author generally means through the recovery, not the device (I ended up doing both since I didn't know about the option in the recovery).
- Once the recovery is in place, adding the ROM is as simple as downloading the ZIP, copying it to SDcard, rebooting to recovery, and loading the ZIP. If I can do it, just about anyone else can, too!
- After installing the Energy ROM, I could not get the WiFi to work. Rather than read hundreds of posts, I did a search on that thread and found an updated kernel in Post #4. Followed the specific instructions and problem solved.
Now that I have been running this for a couple of days, only a few things that I don't like:
- Random reboots. Though I did have them on stock, they appear more often now.
- The HTC Trace keyboard acts much differently than on stock. For example, when swiping some letters, words I've never used pop up and choices that I expect don't appear. I presume it's because NRG customized it for himself.
- It is REALLLY blue. If you don't like blue, this is not the ROM for you! (Did not mean to rhyme that but if works.) Blue is my favorite color so I don't mind it that much. But because of the way he has themed it, some screens appear much darker than they should. Also, within the tray, there is no distincition between background apps (like WiFi calling, JuiceDefender, etc) and Notifications (package updates, email updates, etc) because the theme is so dark.
Overall, now that I've "got my feet wet" with this ROM, I may actually look at others. But this was a great place to start.
I got no reboots with Energy ROM. I've never gotten a reboot (unless I was testing something in alpha/beta stages) on this phone. And if u used 4ext recovery, you wouldn't have had the broken WiFi because you don't have to flash the kernel separately.
Sent from my HTC Amaze running Sense 3.5
i never had any random boots with any rom besides Bliss Sense 3.5 ( My FAV Sense 3.5 but was never released stable ............
Maybe I got a lemon device. Though I talked to a t-mo rep who has an Amaze and he said there are occasional reboots.
I may try another ROM and see if that helps but I doubt it will.

I know alot of folks here have recently JTAG'd or just aquired an s-off dna. so now that you've have a chance to look at the scene... what do you prefer?
The Viper team won't do Sense 5 and the Sense 5 ROMS are basically stock. So from what i can tell, Sense 5 ROMS look like the same as the DNA unrooted but with the currents/blinkfeed widget.
I haven't tried the Viper ROMS yet, but will this week. I'm just curious on what people are settling on.

Would have to throw in with the sense 5 guys. I hope the Viper team is reading and makes the call. I know they are considering it.
Minus BlinkFeed, Sense 5 is quite nice.
I run a Viper setup and a Sense 5 setup. I'm also running another sense 4+ setup that's oh so sweet. But typically speaking I keep a nandroid backup of each so I can just do a full wipe and restore what I want to run.
They both have their strong points, Viper offers the ultimate in customization.
But sense 5 has a lot of customizations and tweaks and performance improvements, especially Newt's rom. And there's a big update that should be dropping anytime now. Not as many different configuration options, but its still quite a bit improved and modified over stock.
Maybe it's because the JTAG guy have been stock so long, but I think only choosing one or the other is a big mistake. You should run one for a few days and then run the other for a few days.
Oh and blinkfeed isn't all bad, there was a lot of negative speculation pre release and still from people that haven't run it. I fully expected to hate it honestly. I'm not really a widget kind of person and I saw it as a permanent widget. But when I actually set it up and use it, I think it's pretty cool. However I don't do social networking like facebook. Generally speaking I don't even set blinkfeed up unless I'm going to be running that rom for a while. I'd like it removable but I'd MUCH rather have it there than not because I think it's good for HTC, it's something that wins over a lot of new to android type general consumers. And sales and the phones in peoples hands is better for all of us.

I like Blinkfeed. I have it set to show all the tech sites and the news I like. It does a pretty good job of summarizing the highlights. Way better than the google CURRENTS app. Although i didn't hate currents either.
I loaded viper but don't think i gave it a chance. Ive tried NOS and now on Hatka sense. Love the toggle bar and circle widgets and the built in personal hotspot.
But I'll giving Viper another go for sure. Normally I'd have about 4 to 5 restores, but with only 16 gig, i know i can't do that. I'll finishing searching for the best sense5, then back it up and go for Viper.

Will NOT use Sense 5 until you can get rid of blinkfeed. Sense 4+ is good enough for me ViperDNA

I like it, it reminds me of a better 'CURRENTS'. But i'm gonna try VIPER soon,so i'm itching to see realworld customizations.

Had the Viper installed for the last few days. all i can say is wow. Not missing sense 5 one bit. The amount of customizations on this rom are just sick. But more importantly, the ease of changing these via the venom tweaks menu buttons are amazing. Can change the status bar in nearly unlimited fashion, can change fonts, can change icons, etc... All of these things can be done of course on any rom, but it's all built in with menus and buttons here. Everyday i can change my phone in so many ways without having to flash. I change my mind alot and in the past 3 days, i haven't been bored.

My battery was superb on stock rom. Lasted about 2 days of normal use.
My battery on sense 5 roms with Beastmode kernal was about 1.5 days of normal use.
I'd say Viper on it's stock kernal has been about 1.2 days of normal use. Although normal use has gone up since i have a fun menu to play with and reboot more often.
I'll be searching for the best kernal/rom combo along with battery saving tips without reducing performance over the next few days.
I personally like blink feed, but hate the Sense 5 app drawer. Everything else in Sense 5 is absolutely beautiful, and I'm generally an AOSP purist type. I'm currently running newtoroot's ROM at 320dpi with Nova launcher (because I hate the app drawer more than I like blink feed - though I wish I knew how to make it work with Nova).
Basically, Sense 5 > Viper >>>> Sense 4+
I prefer Sense compared to the custom Roms of Viper and CM10. I love sense 5
I am a fan of the very clean and very simple sense 5. I don't need all the customization that comes with Viper but it works well regardless. Just depends on what you want from your rom.
