Hi everybody! I'm new at this forum, i come from xperia x8 forum, and I have problems with custom kernels. I have a xperia Neo V, and I just cant connect the phone in fastboot mode. I'm not sure if it is properly bootloader-unlocked, as in the oficial sony's webpage it said that cdma devices cannot be unlocked (check http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/), and I think that is the standard in Europe isn't it? (I'm from spain). Also, I checked the service menu and it also indicates that the bootloader cannot be unlocked.
Anyway i tried through the testpin-s1 tool method and everything seemed to work fine, i got the output with the two lowercase "r", but not the messages showing the model, software version, custom version, filesystem version and serial number, as said in vimjam's guide (check the post regarding unlock BL here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409269).
When I try to connect it in fastboot mode it just shows the sony ericsson logo and starts to charge, not showing any blue led. I know that this happens in locked devices, but the two lowecase "r" in s1 tool indicate that it is unlocked, so i dont understand... Can someone tell me if my phone is properly unlocked, or if custom kernels can be flashed connecting the device in flash mode (as it does work for me)? Thanks in advance
Eventhough your bootloader is now unlocked, your fastboot is still locked, you have sim-locked phone and you need to pay to unlock it.
ok, so you mean I have to sim-unlock my phone in adition to bl-unlock to connect it in fastboot mode? can this be done in wotanserver or i have to take it to some tech service?

Hi guys!!
I tried to follow this guide, but I can't continue, I stuck in step 5 of Unlocking the Bootloader.
I have install android-sdk and added the line in udev correctly.
Note that I'm using Ubuntu!
My Phone:
Code:
Model ------------> SK17i
Android version --> 2.3.4 (official ROM, obviously)
Build version ----> 4.0.2.A.0.62
Bootloader -------> Locked :(
PD: This device is Vodafone!
Hi, i can be wrong but i think there is no drivers for linux.
When you hold your volume button up and connect your phone, S1 BOOT device should appear, and you must have driver for it.
Only then it will detect your phone and successfully communicate with it.

He want's to unlock the bootloader first, not rooting!
Go to Phone, enter this *#*#7378423#*#*
Then choose Service Info-Configuration
Bootloader unlock allowed, is it Yes or No?
Also, is your phone locked to a network?

The bootloader (of my device) is locked, Unlock allowed = NO.
I think that my phone is locked by network, Vodafone is very stupid!!
Thank you!! Regards!!
Exactly, since it says Unlock Allowed: No, then you cannot unlock it with official method.
If you can use other operator SIM in that phone, then phone doesn't have network lock, if you can't use other SIM, then phone has network lock.
i was trying to follow this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285285) to unlock my sk17i. i'm pretty sure i did the right thing at first, but during "PROCESSING … REMOVE TESTPOINT NOW, THEN PRESS "READY"" part, i removed the USB instead of just the test point.
now the problem is nothing happens anymore after i click Ready (after connecting the test point) when i try to Patch SECMBoot.
i tried the RESTORE but it said 'nothing to restore'
is there any way to solve this? or maybe reset the process i abandoned before?
Well, does your phone still can be turn on?If no,use wotanserver, and try to unlock it again...
yes it can still be turn on. everything is still normal.
i have looked through wotanserver before posting this, but hesitated to use it. can i just unlock my phone using it and without installing their firmwares?
and it said
Beside unlocking removes Invalid SIM Card or SIM network unlock PIN screens and allows you to use your phone with different network SIM card – unlocking is NOT supported by WotanClient software!

done it.
instead of connecting testpoint to USB (which i did before), i connected test point to ground-negative connector of the battery.
now i have unlocked the device.
but sadly i used wotanserver and my phone is back to stock -_-"
thanks.
@hizperion
just a question sir, why are you trying to unlock bootloader?
if you have done it already thru test point that should be it.
this would allow you to use fastboot on your phone to install custom kernel.
flashing thru wotan would definitely lead to stock since that is what it does...

the unlocking thru test point at the first time didn't work, because i plugged the USB out during the process. so it kinda stuck at some point (it seems like its already unlocked, but actually not yet). i tried to flash using fastboot but nothing happened too.
just check service menu.
if it states "bootloader unlocked : yes" then it is already unlocked.
if it states "bootloader unlock allowed :yes" then it is still locked.

well in that case, it was still locked
but i couldn't unlocked it anymore by connecting the testpoint to USB
connecting the testpoint to ground of the battery solved it, as mentioned above
Hello
I currently own an Xperia Live with walkman which I upgraded to 4.0.4 ICS and rooted.
I'm interested on using custom ROMs so I need to unlock the phone's bootloader in order to install custom kernels.
In the service menu of the phone, rooting status says:
Bootloader unlock allowed: NO
I've read on other threads that this means that the phone also has a network lock, so even if I use the test point method to unlock, I won't be able to use fastboot mode.
However on the SIMLOCK menu of the service menu, all locks are disabled (And I confirmed it by installing another sim from a different phone company).
¿How can I unlock the bootloader (for free, hopefully), and will it work on fastboot mode?
I would advise you to try and go to fastmode connecting the phone to the computer while off and holding the volume up key, the notification led should turn on blue that means that you will have no problem flashing custom kernels but you will need to unlock the bootloader using the test point method.
Also you can double check if the boot loader is really locked in the service menu, software info, under the s1 Boot Version you will find something like this: 1241-3656 r9A029 the letter "r" here refers to the state of the bootloader the lower case means it's unlock meanwhile the capital "R" means its locked.

So, I will never be able to use fastboot?
Even if I unlock the bootloader through test points or the paid method?
Normally, you'd have to unlock it via Wotan Server. It erases SIM lock and unlocks bootloader. Don't know why your phone is already SIM unlocked, though.
Hi,
I have same problem, Bootloader unlock allowed: NO
On every test point tutorial I saw "if Bootloader unlock allowed: YES, than you can continue doing TP".
I want to unlock it, so I can flash CM9.
Can I still use TP to unlock my bootloader?
No, bootloader cannot be unlocked if fastboot is disabled.
The only way to enable fastboot right now is via paid method, which also uses the test point method. I am not sure, but I have heard that in some cases, that method unlocks the bootloader aswell.
So, no custom ROMs for me
So what's the verdict here?
Even though on my LWW I have Bootloader unlock allowed: NO I did the testpoint method to unlock the bootloader and it passed. Afterwards I have S1 Boot Version: r9A021 (notice the r) which means the bootloader is unlocked AFAIK. However I still have no access to fastboot. I can confirm that the phone is simlocked, and before having to pay to get it simunlocked, I want to make sure that doing so will finally enable fastboot.
Again, will having the phone sim-unlocked enable the bootloader to be unlocked, and more importantly gain access to fastboot?

Yes, the bootloader is unlocked, but fastboot is still disabled and phone SIM-locked. The only way to enable fastboot is via paid method.

That's exactly what I am asking. If the phone gets sim-unlocked, does that mean that fastboot will be enabled? What paid method are you referring to? Sim-unlock code? Or is there some other paid method?
Or to put it in better writing, what paid method is there to enable fastboot?

The paid-method is technically you go to your service provider, and ask them for an unlock code for your phone.Normally, you need to pay,but if you are lucky, they can give an unlock code for free :good:
The method to sim-unlock your phone (based on my reading in this forum ) is insert other SIM card that are different carrier, and turn on your phone. There will be a checkpoint which your phone asking for a code,at that time you insert the code that your service provider gave you,and after you enter the code, your phone will automatically sim-unlocked :highfive:
I'm sorry if some of my information is misleading,I hope someone can fix my mistake (if any though)
Or try this, who knows it might work?

I'm planing to buy an unlock code, just want to make sure that by simunlocking it will enable fastboot.
Only wanted to know if anyone knows that it is certain, because i have no need for simunlock other than enabling fastboot so I can flash kernels

I unlocked the sk17i of my son with another simcard and the code from my provider but... bootloader is still NOT allowed
Have you tried the testpoint method to unlock the bootloader?
Unlocking bootloader and sim unlocking both do separate things, but I'm hoping simunlocking + testpoint method will finally enable fastboot.
I'll purchase a simunlock code and post if that helps with enabling fastboot asap.

3)paste the IMEI in the SE Bootloader_Unlocking_Relocking.exe apposite space and click on: Get Unlock Code
3)turn off your phone, and connect in to your pc in fastboot mode(press volume up when you connect it
4)click Unlock BL,

Fastboot is disabled on SIM-locked and/or branded phones. Only way to enable it is via paid method.
So I got this Sony Xperia X model F5121 from one of my relatives, and I ran into quite a few issues when I tried rooting it. it says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: NO, which would mean that i couldn't get into fastboot mode and unlock my bootloader but here's the very specific and weird part: I can get into fastboot mode, at least I believe so. My phone was carrier locked to Vodafone but I payed a professional to unlock that and now I can use every SIM I want. I looked online and the first XDA page said that unlocking the SIM meant that fastboot mode is unlocked as well. So I tried, I plugged my phone in while holding the volume key, a blue light popped up and it meant I was currently using fastboot mode, but when i try doing anything it says "waiting for devices" and doesnt end up working at all. Am I missing some drivers? Is it just impossible? Could one of you be kind enough to provide the needed files and some instructions for this procedure? i'm asking for a lot, I know but if there's anyone kind enough. I'm running the absolute latest version of Android 8 Sony provides.
EDIT: YEs, used adb shell, I have the ADB drivers, I tried the szuzu install or what the TWRP codename for it is, but everything just stops at "waiting for devices" and I can't do anything.
Since you are not allowed to unlock the bootloader - Bootloader unlock allowed - No, there is no way to unlock it and root it. Sorry.
even if you want to try again, make sure to force install googles drivers
instead of sonys
