Touch sounds - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So I got my lte today...so far I love it. I have a strange issue though. I like to have 'touch sounds' enable so I can hear the click when I press on home screen apps. On this phone I hear a double 'click'. Is that normal? Thanks.
Sent from my EVO using XDA

Yeah there's kind of a quick double-click sound. Sometimes a very rapid double-click that almost sounds like one click, but sometimes a clear double-click.. at least that's the way it goes for me.
Never noticed before but when I click on anything in the dock (phone, gmail, texts, camera) it does only one click. Kinda weird..

It seems like the screen is uber sensitive. Sometimes I just hear one click. It's bugging the hell out of me.

Anyone else notice the 'double click' sound and have any suggestions? Should I take it back and get a new one?

yer...i myself have one , and my wife has the same phone with the same issue .
i know another friend of mine that has the same thing . we all have that same double click crap .
no point in bringing it back, either it was meant to be stupid like that , or its something that would be fixed with a minor update .

That's kinda what I was thinking. Other than that minor annoyance everything else works great. Thanks for the input. Hopefully its just a bug that gets fixed.

One other little thing that bugs me is the notification bar when it shifts from solid to transparent. It seems like that is a bug too. I think it should be always solid or always transparent.

i would look to catch it , because you can never tell untill it changes and you then ask yourself "did that **** just change? " lol.
no big deal
as long as it doesnt mess with the devices' performance , im cool.

Yea, I'm just OCD a little...lol. I didn't remember the store model doing either of these things. That why I started asking. Lol

I noticed that I don't get the sound in the app drawer, my other evo's did, kinda strange.

[Q] Wonky CRT Off Animation

First of all, I wanted to say my CRT off animation is weird on my SII. It seems to flash white before starting. It was much smoother and sexier on my Captivate and even looks better on the DROID 3. It looks weird on mine. I've tried it on both UnNamed and Cog X2, both have that weird thing. Is it just KH7, or is it just something unfixable?
My CRT off animation looks like that too. it looks bad. it started when I flashed cog b4(had it on stock and it looked fine).

Yeah it does look bad. It looks fine on stock? I'll have to look into that. I guess it's something with custom ROMs. It's really sad...
when I say stock I don't mean pure stock. I had it after I flashed the 12 toggle mod and it included it and it looked fine then but after flashing cog I noticed it. If I can help in anyway let me know. Your work with the captivate was great btw

I'm talking to GTG right now. I mentioned this, hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it. Personally I'm not sure what exactly to do...
On another note, he fixed my animation issues (present in his UnNamed ROM and Cog X2) by disabling slowBlur. Ever noticed pressing Menu on the home screen and opening popups like in settings with brightness and volume, that the popups open with an animation that seems to be half missing? He fixed that for me. So I'm hoping he will find this too. The guy really knows his stuff.
Thanks for the compliment! I hope to soon start some projects for the SII!
Some news coming from GTG
However, the CRT animation on dg's rom and on my rom (with the addon) is as good as it's going to get. It just isn't rendered right on the Galaxy S II and no one has figured out why definitively. Whoever told you it works fine on stock just doesn't have a very discerning eye. Read that whole thread I linked you to. The international GSII owners already went through this long ago and accepted that the CRT animation will never be quite right on the SGS2 with Samsung based ROMs. CRT is fine on CM7 though apparently.

This is so weird. Up to this point, my CRT worked wonderfully. So well that it looked native. I saw this thread, so I looked at it again and now mine has the white screen issue (for the first time) .
EDIT - Upon reboot, my CRT returned to normal. One of the lucky ones I guess.
Thought it was my just my phone. It was fine until yesterday...well at least I first noticed it yesterday...all static-barcode looking. But I can say honestly at one point it was definitely smooth because I played with it continuously when I first enabled it because it looked so sweet on my screen.

Apparently it has a lot to do with the music player and screen shot app. But no matter what I still get a weird flash in the middle of it, ruining it. On KH7 anyway, with slowBlur off.
Rebooted, still funky.

It isn't a fix, nor does it actually work. It looks better, and that's it. Notice how when you press the power button, the screen turns white then shrinks towards the middle. That's not how the animation should work. It should take the screen, and shrink that towards the center, I assume with a white outline. The problem is the last screenshot taken I guess, or just the buffer/cache somewhere.

Well...er...can confirm that reboot worked for me too!!!
On UnNamed with slowBlur off, a reboot makes it look almost acceptable. Still wrong compared to my Captivate.
Restoring a backup of stock that came with my phone, gonna enable it there and see if that works. Just in case...
On stock firmware which came with the phone, I manually enabled CRT off. It works, but still not correctly. It does not shrink the screen, but a while screen. And has a weird flash in it. Guess that's a nope. It's USABLE but nowhere near perfect.
So I need someones help. I deleted the screen capture apk, and now pressing the key combo just makes the phone vibrate. So somewhere there is a link between that apk and the button combo. Can someone help me find that?
I would help but I have almost no android ( or Linux for that matter) experience. I would love to learn so I can finally start giving back to the community.

So the CRT should be on here completely bone stock? After reading this, I tried and do not get the CRT animation. I checked and all animations is selected. WTF?

What hidden fixes have you found with the new OTA?

Basically, stuff that wasn't advertised. So far I see:
1.) the hissing in the audio seems to be pretty much gone, which is awesome
2.) they added the battery meter thing into the "power" menu
3.) when synced to facebook, peoples birthdays are no longer a day earlier than they really are in the People app..they're the right date now!
------
to be tested:
1.) see if they got rid of the clicks/pops of the video camera (going to try to do a guitar video tomorrow to test) ****TESTED and they still have NOT fixed this. the audio is still god awful.
anyone else notice anything cool that wasn't advertised?
realllllllly? nobody noticed anything else? lol
Everyone else is rooted and still figuring out how to get the OTA! lol.
Seriously, if I'm not mistaken, those that are rooted and go right back to their nand, like I'm about to do, won't see the changes except the radios and hboot version.
EDIT: Restored my nand of Ineffabilis and I still see the 5 bars, I see the battery level indicator but not in the "power" menu, in the "About phone > battery" menu. I hope that means the calendar date thing is fixed too since I'm about to break down and sign up on Facebook.
lol nice nice..yeah, i'm not rooting it yet. the phone is working 100% how i want it to, and i don't feel like rooting and throwing roms on there..when i rooted the Inc, i went through a new rom like every week, and i can't keep doing that to myself lol

So is this going to have the same Multitasking issues as the One X?

I'm not in the mood to buy a new phone that is worse off than my current one. Since none of the reviews mentioned it for the One X, I don't expect them to bother looking at it for the EVOLTE. Any news on this?
Same concern here.
Also seems as if the SGS3 is following suit with the same aggressive multitasking system.
dont buy it then lol

It's an issue to people who aren't on XDA & feel it's an issue.
Not worried about it. Root, Custom Kernels & a Custom ROM will be dictating how aggressive the TK runs.
I think most people don't realize that it's probably more of an ICS issue than an OEM one. When the Galaxy Nexus first came out people were complaining about the same thing, but you don't hear much about it anymore with the update to 4.0.3 and 4.0.4.
My Evo 3D with the ICS leak (4.0.3) doesn't do this so I'm not to worried about the Evo LTE doing it either.
I have a loaner Evo lte and it doesn't seem to have this issue. I started playing a video on youtube, then jumped to the browser. I surfed the internet for over a minute, and switched back to youtube. The video was on pause. Once I hit play it restarted where I left off. Then after watching the video for more than a minute, I switched back to the browser. The webpage did not reload and displayed what I was previously viewing. Seems all good to me.

I really liked it. My current phone is the Evo 4G, so I'm a little out of date. The screen is amazing, as expected. The phone is quite a bit bigger which surprised me. Not too big by any means, but definitly bigger than I expected. It's nice and thin and feels more sleek. One thing my wife mentioned was that the machined aluminum edge felt 'sharp', like maybe it needed to be deburred or rounded. It wasn't a compliant, just something she noticed. I had no issue and thought it felt great.
The camera was very nice. It takes pictures very fast. One slight dissapointment was the time it took to turn on the camera when pushing the manual camera button on the side. I expected instant readiness, but it took maybe a second or so. The onscreen camera button launches the camera faster.
I actually like the multitask button. It instantly popped up the app screens and rolled back the previous app. Kinda nice that it doesn't start on the current app and require you to scroll back. My current Evo now seems slow having to hold the 'home' button. I kinds miss the menu button. The menu in differnet apps can be on the bottom, top, or not have one. I found myself hunting for it sometimes.
That's all I can think of now. I had to give it back Sunday night. Overall the phone is great, and I can't wait to get my pre-order from sprint!

For real. Why are people complaining so much? How long have we had ICS now? If you don't know your menus and settings by now, don't even bother complaining here.
General users, yeah, more understandable, but not us. But still, if something isn't working right, check your Settings and see if you can change something. Is it really that hard?

If the two of you were staying on top of this story, you would know that checking this doesn't help. Even with that option checked, HTC has changed the settings within the kernel to kill open tasks at a much more aggressive rate than ICS normally would, in order to allow sense to be smoother. They just pushed an update to the international version that helped, but the issue is still there. Personally I don't think it's a big deal, but it is something that can't be changed through checking that item off.

I've only had my EVO LTE for a few hours, but I'm already noticing that apps are reloading a lot more than they did on my EVO 4G. Specifically with the stock browser and titanium backup (woot for root!). It's not a deal breaker, but it is annoying.

Sense Crashes Repeatedly

Hello fellow xda members, I'm having a slight problem with what seems to be HTC sense. I think? But everytime I'm in another app, and hit the back button or the home button, it goes to a dark screen and the small white box comes up saying "loading" and the spinning circles. Fed like this just started happening. I've powered the phone on and off. Restarted it. Nothing. Could there be a problem with one of my settings or the phone itself???? Help. I love this phone too much right now to bring it back to sprint.

This was a problem on the One X also. It has to do with the overly aggressive multitasking.

Before reimaging (RUU) or taking back to sprint, try these steps:
Repeated Sense crashes (com.htc.launcher or whatever) most often come from a rogue non-sense widget that you placed on one of your home screens. Try removing all widgets and see if you're more stable. Then, add them back one at a time until the problem reappears. Give yourself a good hour of testing between widgets. Most likely, as soon as you see a sense crash, the cause will have been that last widget you added.
Also, if you have brought a bunch of apps and data froward from your old phone, remember that you're on Ice Cream Sandwich now. Old apps might not play nicely. Start by deleting the old data and if they still don't play nice, delete the apps and wait for ICS-compatible new versions.
Hope some of these ideas help you out,
glg
I think its the multitasking as well, if it needs memory it seems to go ahead and auto kill sense. which makes no sense, as sense should be a system service, but whatever.
oddly enough,I never saw this problem until this morning when I installed the xda app. memory hog? it doesn't play nice with ics multitasking? I'd have thought xda app would be the best engineered app ever created! ha ! then I saw the dreaded 3-dot button bar and flashing ads. ha, that's ironic as wedding day rain

Home Button Lag

is anyone getting super slow home screen loading. i feel like when hitting the home button the loading just takes forever. I use my epic touch and it just feels so much more snappier even on the stock rom then the S3. i feel as if the s3 is slower in some cases. no matter what app you click on or even in the settings menu if you hit the home button it feels like it just takes forever to go to the home screen. theres just overall lag throughout the phone. whether its clicking on the text entry box for the keyboard to open up or sometimes just scrolling through the home screens and i dont even have alot of stuff on them. does anyone else feel like they see all this or that the epic touch was smoother/snappier? i just expected super fast and i dont feel like i got.
btw ive had them all, og evo, nexus s 4g, evo 3d, epic touch, galaxy nexus. all rooted and running like butter i just dont see this in the s3

If you press the home button twice then S-Voice pops up. The lag is the phone waiting to see if your going to press the home button twice. Just disable s-voice and it will be much more responsive. I read about this in another forum.
