You could use Go Launcher EX with this theme: https://play.google.com/store/apps...XUuZ28ubGF1bmNoZXJleC50aGVtZS53aW5ieXJleW4iXQ.

Thank you, but no thank you. The first one is Metro, indeed. But it is WP7 Metro and not W8 tablet Metro. And here is the issue. The launcher was designed for smartphones, for small displays. It looks weird on big screens.
The second one is not Metro, but an (ugly) interpretation of if. I really don't like all these launchers that are basicly same. LauncherPro, GoLauncher, ADW - they are all the same, absolutly not innovative. I miss something like this home screen replacement (i forgot the name) that showed only text, news, feeds, stuff like that. That was awesome, but unfortunatly the project was canceled.
I wonder why there is no real innovation anymore. As far as I know, Android is the best plattform for developting stuff like that.

I noticed your thread while posting my win 8 metro ui for the nook tablet. I know this is old, but if youre still looking for it, I can help you. what tablet do you have so I can port the theme? and this only works on ICS right now. I got it off of here: metro ui
You have to set up the metro widgets and adw launcher yourself, but I can port the home, back, recents, and settings theme for you to flash, just show me where to download the ICS rom you want to use it on.

I got the metro UI on the nook tablet go to the nook tablet themes and app section, and instructions are right on top.

This is old, but maybe someone is looking at it: I can recommend the Metro UI Launcher 8. Its a good imitation of the Modern UI

i think the only thing is wallpapers you can use
PandaHome works great
Try different launchers like ADW helix zeam etc...
Change wallpapers.
Thats it for now...
ADW is really nice and smooth, give it a try
+1 ADW is cool, plus a quite a number of themes are also available for same. I no more use the defualt "Home" Launcher.
+ADW or Helix
I find helix scrolling to be a bit smoother. Not as sensitive either.
I use home++ beta. Its good and has a power bar below alongwith built in task manager; search, dialer, etc. It can hide the notification bar facilitating full screen wall paper etc. Its in beta but stable enough with a very few force closures. Its expected to improve further in the final release. All in all its worth trying.

to say the truth ADW launcher looks better and can be anjusted the way u want but helix is much better for the battery it stays longer with it
i tried both and i see that helix has the advantage of the power saving and dose not look bad at all it looks really great too.
never mind this is only my opinion
panda home,livehome,dxtop lite work great
deleted. wrong thread.
ADW +1 lot of theme on the market
dead?
Why is the theme scene on x10 mini so DEAD?
I see the themes available for other android devices and pics of other ppl's home screen n it drives me INSANE!
its just SO frustrating.
I installed Zeam but i can't find any themes for it.
I have yet to find a decent tutorial here on the forums or on the web on how to theme/personalise/pimp the x10 mini.
I fear i'm gonna lose my mind soon.
Someone please do something or at least recommend some decent psychosis meds.

uhh well themes .. yah there are some themes .. but its not easy to install .. its not an APK .. or a theme file thing .. u need 2 root .. install some applications .. and copy files .. and stuff .. ;D
I use Adw Ex and am loving it.
Smooth ass hell and fast.
But I would LOVE to have some different themes from SE so that we dont have to live whit this blue menu all of the time.
the best is launcher pro plus. No crashes so far and really smooth scroling.

Launcher?

I have been playing around with my tab 10.1 for a while now, and considering to change the launcher for another one.
Is they're anyone around with a experience using adw ex?
Looks nice but would love to hear some users ...
I have tried to instal go launder ex, but Al lot plugins in the market show not compatible with your device....
Suggestions?

I am using adw ex pro and it works like a charm. So far no problem. The only thing is, when you try to move your apps from one place to another place on the screen, you might get confused
But it works so smooth and fast

yup
I'm using ADW Ex and I wouldn't go back to something else.
So fast and smooth that it makes you wondering why google can't get a better launcher. Maybe ICS will be the answer...
ADW EX is the best for our tab. Day and night difference when compared to stock launcher
I am in the same boat as everybody else and I agree with everything everybody has already said.
Think i Will buy this one then ... Thanks

Related question, does anyone have insight on free version of ADW? It seems to do most of the same stuff, just curious if there are features on the paid version that would be must-haves.
Differences between ADW.Launcher and ADWLauncher EX
ADWLauncher EX is based on the ADW.Launcher opensource core with a lot of new additions and improvements, like for example:
-5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
---3D Nexus One like application drawer
---2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the "old one" and a new fast and smooth one
---2 different Iphone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
-Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they're crazy!!!
-New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
-New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
-Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
-Lots of code improvements
-More, more more to come!!
thats straight from the market hope this helps
Thanks, I did read that on the market. I guess my question was more related to actual use and experience, but I guess I will just go ahead and try the free version, and if it doesn't do enough of what I want I will buy the pro version. I just didn't want to spend a lot of time working on it just to have to do it all over again if I upgrade.
I totally agree.. ADW EX is definitely the way to go here. I haven't found anything that even compares. It's good on my Droid X but when they ported it to the tablet they added so many nice touches!

Funny, the free version was available two days ago, but now says it is not compatible with my device...
Guess I'll cough up the $3.32 to check this out.
Bought this launcher and happy with it!
Thanks, have to put in some more time add there are a lot of options here!
Thanks!

I guess I'm alone in thinking that adw is trash but oh well. Prior to using trebuchet on the ics kang I used SPB shell 3d. Its 15$ but its completely worth it, imo. Go launcher isn't tablet ready yet and probably won't be for awhile. Or you just flash the ics kang and be done with it (and save the money)
I have both AdwEx and SPB Shell on my tab. I like adw way better. SPB shell looks good but I think it compromises productivity for the look.
Just purchased ADW EX after reading through this thread, liking it so far , very quick and responsive. I'll be sticking with it for a little while.
i use go launcher just because i can make folders in app drawer. i find i gets super cluttered when you have 20+ games all the **** Samsung apps and Google apps you suddenly start to see three pages of apps. i never find what i just downloaded if i want to try some new app/game, so its nice to putt all games in one folder all productivity apps in one etc.
so far non of the other launcher have this feautere. oh and iphone like uninstall, just hold down on an app and click red x to uninstall. brilliant.

Same here, bought adw but the ability to create folders in app drawer is a plus. If adw had this feature it would be amazing. That and the option to
to use the home soft button to open app drawer.

Launcher Replacement

Are you tired/bored of your traditional Honeycomb Launcher? Are you in need of using folders?
Then you should try GO Launcher HD for Pad.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmdvLmxhdW5jaGVycGFkIl0.
Yes, nice launcher indeed, I'm using it for a couple of days.
Just having some problems with widget loading (palmary weather and widgetsoid), but not exclusive of this launcher, had the same problem with ADW EX.
looking good, will try it.
Thanx for the tip
i'm using the honeycomb standard launcher (taken from asus transformer dump) and it works really well!!

As soon as i get home i will post it...
as promised here attached is the stock launcher taken from asus transformer rom, i think it is a 3.1 launcher because it doesn't have widget resize option, if i find a 3.2 working stock launcher i will post it..
NOTE: this is only for rooted devices, you can't install it, but you have to copy it in the /system/app folder, then press the home button, if it doesn't ask you to choose between sony and stock launcher try rebooting your device, make sure to have a backup rom (see condi tool) before, there should not be any problem you know...
I can't seem to install it.... I put it in system/app... Rebooted and it still doesn't show up...

Gotta change permissions
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using xda premium
I haven't changed any permission, i've used file manager hd to copy the file to the folder..maybe it does it in automatic?
I recommend that you use root explorer instead.
When it comes to permissions, he means that YOU have to set the correct permissions when you have moved/copied the file.
The correct permission is 644 (rw-r--r--) (r=4 w=2 x=1)
yup
I have Go Launcher on both my phone and tablet and absolutely love it.
thanks...
Has anybody tried some launchers designed specifically for ICS yet?
I'm running Apex Launcher (free) now and it works really well with the ICS update. Keeps the same slick look and feel, but takes away that "Favorites" button I never use, no small icons up top, and no more of that choppy fast scrolling feature that Sony built into their launcher. Some nice customization options too.
Can get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
I'll probably install Trebuchet (CM9 launcher) and see how it works later tonight.
nice

The Apex Launcher looks nice, but I don't see anything that GO Launcher does not do. I especially love all of the widgets that are available for GO.
Don't know anything about Trebuchet.
launcher
Try ADW launcher. It has tons of customizations
Really cool
Same here, ADW Launcher is much better than GO Launcher. I especially like it because we can hide the top bar alltogether.
Go launcher is great on my tablet but why can't I theme it like I can on my phone?

because the DEV has not released it's theme factory may be.
It's still in beta..
GO Launcher HD is still to early to put on our tablet imo, no themes and some GO widgets arent workin properly. Don't get me wrong, its a great work in progress, but its still in progress non the less.
Installed GO Launcher EX when I bought the STS and havent found anything better yet.
I'm sure if they keep up the good work on GO-HD it'll be awesome in a few months.

Just use apex and change transition to tablet, you can even change the amount of icon squares that you can have on your screen.
I doubt that you will find anything that comes closer to a tablet look than apex.
Plus it's a very slick ui.

Launchers

Hello everyone, I’m back in the Android family again and I see a lot has changed in the last 3 years. I went into the playstore and don’t see all of the apps I’ve purchased, and I’m assuming that’s because of Android OS compatibility. I was very happy to see some core apps I use were still there, but what happened to the launchers? The variety is nothing like it used to be. At one point in time, I had between 10 - 14 on my phone that were similar but also different for one reason or another. Thankfully Nova Launcher which is my number 1 pick is still available. I think Apex Launcher is also, sadly TSF Shell and Next Launcher are gone. I liked those, but I see Go Launcher is. Now I haven’t used that launcher in at least 7 or 8 years, because they began charging for things that used to be included for free. I remember when that was the top launcher and was worth using. The reviews I see are terrible to say the least. I tried to visit their website and got some message basically stating the site isn’t up as far as I’m concerned. What is going on here, and what could they possibly be selling for an in app purchase for $109? I would never spend that kind of money for an in app purchase. Are there any other good launchers available that I’m missing? I saw a couple of launchers that were based on Windows Desktop layouts, and a MAC OS layout.
Launcher choice
I didn't like how the stock launcher only gave you only a few applications to choose from on the top screen when you were in 'T' mode. I played around with Nova Launcher and changing the options to auto rotate seems to work pretty well. Let me...

Microsoft Launcher seems to also work well with the Wing.
You will lose the Carousel Apps though in swivel mode.
But it seems to take care of the 5 second delay that KLWP has when launching Apps from the Home Screen.
Nova also takes care of that though
Wow that looks good. Is that KLWP also? I haven't played around with a build your own widget since UCCW.

Yes, mainly KLWP. Not really a widget but an entire theme built using KLWP.
It's a fairly steep learning curve, but works well on the Wing

I switched to Nova to play around with KLWP, because I am not entirely sure if Win-X Launcher (NO ADS) is compatible. Its either that, and/or I really just don't know what I'm doing yet. I plan to learn more about to use it this weekend.
I use Total Launcher and have for years. It gives you a blank palette to place any widget, any icon, anywhere. Allows for windows with swipe actions. Use of any icon pack in the play store. Mix and match icon styles. Completely customizable. Works with KLWP and KWGT. Has Tasker plugins.
Overall, IMO its more freedom to customize than any other launcher. You be the judge. Happy Launching...
