Hi, as you can see, I am totally new to the android scene, I did some exploring on this forum, and it's quite messy for me, so i figured i could just ask some questions and hear advice from different people.
1. can somebody recommend me a rom and kernal to use??
2. if my stock kernal/rom isn't released, can i just flash a different stock kernal/rom from my country?? (from another telco's)

No such what's best rom posts are not allowed .Up to you to try them .

firstly if you want to know what rom is best use the search button in the forum and see other threads with the same question that you have..reason im saying that alot of people ask the same question so you could read what they have posted and what people suggested to them..also read the following link and that would give a good idea about rooting

Welcome to the Galaxy SII community.
Obviously you did a search to find this site. Would it not have been a good idea to use the Search within this site to see if your question had already been answered already? This search would have came up with the same answer to the 'which ROM is the best' - there is no such thing. There are newer versions of the stock (Samasung) ROM you have. There are also customised ROMs available, these are designed to suit the requirements of the person who built them -performance, style, battery life, etc. It is the equivlent of asking, what is the best food - it is all down to personal taste.
My advise is to play around with your phone and get to know it. Have a good read around here so you are more informed. Try out an updated stock rom. Then by all means try out different custom roms to see which one is the best for you (don't forget to really read up before you do anything).
I would say the Dungeon is the best witch room, but only if it has an en-suite caldron.

Yet another post what is the best rom for the mods to delete .
Their are no best roms are usage is different read the rom threads and try them .

Nobody can answer this question for you. We have a lot of ROMs and even more users, all with different opinions. Just sort the forum by "Stats", find the popular ROMs, try them all, and figure out what it is you like and don't like. There is no other way to do this.

I own a nexus s (not relevant for the question) it runs the CM7 rom, now
i want to return to the stock rom and its ICS version but all of the files that i find online are for updates so my question is how do i install the stock rom from scratch?

thank you, but although i said that the fact that it is a nexus s isn't relevant this post refers to the gallaxy s II so maybe there's relevency to the model.
I have been away for a long time . About 5-6 months and i dont now how are the best ROM or Kernels or new things these days in these forum. I am planning installing a new Rom to my s2 . Currently i am on CHECK ROM REVO V.6 . It is a nice rom with a lots of features but i think i should change it. Could anyone advice me any good ROM that is the best for the moment around these forum ? Thnx

I'm a noob, I don't understand what is kernel, custom rom, flashing, firmware, odin etc but I want to root my Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 (running official 4.0.4) and update it to lastest android os (Jelly Bean?) in safest and easiest way, can any professional teach me? and explain what are kernel, custom room, flashing, firmware, odin etc...? Your help would be appreciated! And I'm new to forum, hi everyone hehe

No intention to immediatly burn you down when you're new here, but since you are new you should read the forum rules and the stickies first. Everything you ask is already explained hundreds of times, so don't start thinking about rooting yet if you don't know what you're doing.
As said above, first start reading and learning. It's the best way.

You don't need to search so much to find how to root your device.. Well, i'll recommend you cyanogen mod, it's a very famous rom i've got installed and i love it. It works very well, it's JB, increases A LOT battery life.. and automatically adds rooot to your phone. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/index.php?title=Install_CM_for_i9100
You should read guides and stuff, for learning more for your device. In the top of this web, there is a text box to search posts, threads.. If you type in "Custom ROM" you will find a lot of useful information, do the same with all that words you don't understand.
In the bottom of every post, there is a button called "Thanks", if this post was useful to you, click it (just information ). You should do it with every post useful to you, but there is a limit.
