[Q] VPN connection via widget or Tasker? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm searching for a possibility to establish a VPN connection with just one click. Some kind of widget would be great. Even greater it would be, if I can tell Tasker to establish a VPN connection, if I'm connected to a specific wifi network.
Maybe someone can give me an advice in this issue.
Thanks in advance
Niels

I've the same question... somebody know how to establish vpn-connection with tasker (Samsung Galaxy S3). I use the build-in vpn.
With VPNCilla it should work but then I get always a message to "trust the app".
Or somebody knows a widget that i can start the buildin vpn with one klick?

Hi,
The author of OpenVPN for Android has extended his App to allow 3rd party applications remote control of the VPN. Ffrog Apps has written a Tasker plugin to use this remote control: 'OpenVPN Tasker Plugin' try out the beta version search g+ for Ffrog Apps Beta Testing
Note: it requires at least version 0.6.37+ of the OpenVPN for Android app, which is only released as a beta at this stage - search g+ for OpenVPN for Android
Unfortunately i can't post direct links to xda.

[Q] Twitter and/or Foursquare app with SSL?

Hi,
I'm currently looking for a good Twitter and/or Foursquare client for the Android platform, but I'm not too sure which of the ones currently available in the Market either have an option in the settings to connect via secure connection (i.e. SSL) or which connect this way by default. I know Plume [Twitter client] has this option in the settings, which I like, but I'm exploring other options to see what's out there. I like the look of TweetDark (themed version of TweetDeck) because it allows for both Twitter and Foursquare to be used (among others) but I'm not sure if this connects via SSL or not, or if the app alone can be configured to connect this way like Plume can. Any ideas?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks .
P.S. I'm not sure if this is the right section to be asking this. If not feel free to move it if you're reading this and you're a mod/admin .

[Q] Lock app with NFC

Is there away to lock an app with NFC.
I am creating a VPN to our company server with OpenVPN for Android ... works great.
Problem is that I have to install the client certificate in the mobile and therefore I want to secure the start of OpenVPN app with a NFC tag. It should be so that the OpenVPN app ONLY can be started with NFC tag ...
I have with Tasker & Trigger & Secure Settings ... but am lost.
Appreciate any answers

Android SSH/VPN App

Hey all,
I have a non-rooted Android 8.0 phone.
I'm looking for an Android app that will:
1. Open an SSH connection with private key to a remote host
2. Create a SOCKS 5 dynamic tunnel
3. Use Android's VPN mode to transparently proxy selected apps through the tunnel
For example, I can do 1&2 with connectbot but then have to configure the apps manually to use the tunnel if they support socks.
I can use another app to be the transparent vpn but that adds more work and multiple stages.
I'm looking for a "one stop shop" that works like Orbot with Android's selected-app vpn mode, but over ssh instead of tor.
Are there any such apps? I can't find anything on my own...
Thanks!
Magogo
Hi, did you find the app you looked for? I'm searching it too

VPN client for Android and per app routing

Hi,
I'm developing an Android VPN client. I want to know my best options to make a one-click-to-connect vpn client. There is openvpn but the problem with it is the license. I'll have to pay for concurrent users. So, what are my free or cheapest options.
Is there a way to use a vpn that only allows certain apps or ports and the rest are not allowed to use this VPN?
Thank you

Need help with Remote Desktop Client on Android

I would like to use an android as a Windows 10 PC terminal. I'm using a Samsung Fold3 running Android 12 if it matters. It seems like a fairly simple process. Enable Remote Desktop on the Windows 10 PC. Make sure the PC's firewall (and virus protection software) passes Remote Desktop access. Install Remote Desktop Client on the Android and setup the connection to the PC.
The Remote Desktop Client sees the PC, fills in the active user account and requests the user password. I can enter the password but the android does not respond to the "Continue" button and all I can do is cancel out of it. I can also try to edit the PC configuration to setup a user account so that a password does not need to be entered each time but in this case the save button is unresponsive whether or not a password is entered.
This same thing happens whether I select the PC found on the local wifi or I enter the PC's IP address manually (with or without the 3389 port number).
Can anyone give me a clue as to what I'm doing wrong or how to proceed?
Sorry. User error. I was doing something stupid.
Never mind.
These remote desktop options allows you to access Windows from Android easily with just one click.https://www.anyviewer.com/how-to/remote-control-windows-10-from-android-0427.html

Thanks for the link.
My initial problem was just a usage error getting Microsoft Remote Desktop Client to work when on the same network. I fixed that issue and am able to use it to control my PC from an android as long as I'm on the same local network which is useful but I would also like to be able to do it from anywhere on the internet.
Your link led to a discussion of this issue with the possibility of using port forwarding or a VPN to allow access to my PC from an external network with varying degrees of complexity and hacking potential.
The link also discussed using chrome and a google account to access my PC remotely. This is unacceptable because I won't use chrome and have uninstalled it from all my android devices plus although I do have a Google account, I only use it to explicitly download apps from the store and otherwise disable Google Play Services and the Google Play Store and will not use any app that requires Google Play Services to function. So this option is out.
The final option requires me to create an account at a third party site and presumably direct all of my traffic through this third party. This too is unacceptable to me.
So the question is, is there a simpler method to access my PC from an android device that's on a different network than having to setup a vpn or enabling port forwarding on my router, that doesn't require registering for and using a third party service to accomplish the goal?
