I have got myself Galaxy S3 locked to Three network i have looked all over the forums but managed to confuse myself
I want to debrand and root my phone but i don't know what to do first do i root before flashing stock to the phone or flash with stock first then root.I really don't want to brick it lol.
I would like to open it for all networks also.
P.S Im in UK model number GT-I9300
Thank you
Steveo

First u have to flash the debranded firmware you want with Odin theN do a cf root then after u have rooted you can go to play store and download voodoo galaxy s III sim unlock
If I helped say thanks

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply.
So do i just flash the stock rom for the uk straight to my phone using odin3 v1.85?
will it wipe everything from my phone once i do this contacts etc..

Stock rom does not wipe .
Root will be wiped if you flash stock rom after root so in your case stock followed by root .
jje

Thanks for the help guys.
I managed to get their in the end.

what did you do in the end ? I want to do the same and remove the Vodafone branded firmware off my S3 and just add stock firmware on..
Cheers

Go to samfirmware.com and flash your Rom of choice through Odin.

Fix a bootloop problem after trying to unroot.

Please help, after I rooted my Galaxy S2 (international version) with a CyanogenMod 9 Resurrection 4.0.4 ICS, I wanted to unroot it back to official 4.0.3. I've already read a few threads and have done some of them but nothing seems to work.
ps, i used odin's option PDA to root my phone, and according to the threads i just read to unroot it i have to download an official rom and use the PDA option to unroot my device. But all it did is to bootloop my phone. help please, im new at this.

This happened to me
I had the same problem when I first unrooted. Go into stock recovery after flashing the official ROM and do a factory reset.

Go to www.sammobile.com to find the firmware and flash through Odin. Make sure you don't tick repartition or use a pit file unless you know 100 % what you're doing.

root s3

hi there guys i am really new to all this rooting, i rooted my phone on the verison 4.1.1 and i know for my network the 4.1.2 has come out but it wont let me update it to that, is there anyway i can update it to 4.1.2 and keeping root
Cheers
Go to SamMobile and download the latest firmware for your network and flash it
yes there is. Go as decribed to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and look for i9300 with ur network. Then flash via Odin. Keep in mind u will loose ur root and u will have to repeat the rooting process... at least if u want to gain root again,
cheers
If you have the app, you can use mobile odin and flash the firmware with it, you will keep root.

If you have a rooted device, you can directly go from 4.1.1 to (any 4.1.2) custom rom. You may have to wipe your device, follow the instructions in the specific ROM thread.
If you are a newbie to rooting / flashing spend more time in reading + choose correct rom for your S3 or else your phone would turn out-to-be a costly paper weight!

You can't update any rooted / superuser modified phones thru Kies.

As long as the ROM & CSC are correct you can update a rooted phone through Kies, as far as I am not wrong, whereas you will loose root and have to re-root. What is not working is the OTA update if you are rooted.
Hence the easiest solution is to download the ROM via sammobile or XDA and flash it via Odin or better Mobile Odin (to keep root).

No, you can't. I've tried myself and it doesn't work.

Yes, you can update a rooted phone through Kies as long as the csc is correct. You will lose root though, but other than that it's safe.

As I mentioned, Mobile Odin is the easiest way as you just select the rom and it flashes incl. root injection. For Odin, simply download the rom you would like to flash (e.g. stock rom from sammobile or prerooted from XDA's general section), and follow the usual steps (e.g. there are easy videos to follow on YouTube & there are many guides in the general section). If you chose to flash a rom that is not yet rooted you will need to flash CF-Auto-Root of CF-Root again.

got it! another question if you don't mind, can i use stock rom using odin without unrooting my device? some people say that if you try to flash your device with official stock rom might unroot phone? is this true or just using odin will prevent your phone from unrooting? no matter what rom you would use. thanks in advance!

there are two ways:
(1) Odin (desktop version): if you flash a stock rom (normal version, not rooted), it will be not rooted, hence you have to root again
(2) Mobile Odin (Adroid Play Store): if you flash a stock rom (normal version, not rooted), you have an option to inject root and directly root it in the process of flashing the rom

I see, the mobile odin i guess is suited for me. since i dont want to unroot my device i just want to update it.
you can always reroot it afterwards. Or better yet, flash a prerooted ROM

[Q] how to unroot my s3

Please can anyone help me?
I need to unroot my s3 and put a UK T-Mobile ROM back on it as I am exchanging it for a new one through insurance due to dropping the phone.
The screen still works but has a small crack in it.
Cheers in advance
Go into the general section and follow the unroot guide.
Basically you need to reset flash counter by downloading TriangleAway app (its available here on xda) then just download your official rom from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300#firmware, flash it through odin and restore factory settings. There should be in deph tutorial in general section.
Flash official rom with odin
Cheers guys all sorted now
