The normal screen timeout setting doesn't affect the dialer screen. Is there a way to keep the screen from going out without having to touch it every few seconds? Really makes it a pain the ass to do speakerphone calls on automated systems where you have to listen to a voice for a minute or two before you can respond. I had this problem with my GS2 as well. This is the ONLY thing I loved better about my old iPhone.
Any help would be appreciated...
*BUMP* Any ideas??
Im sure Smart Stay works on the dialer screen? Mine does anyway..
Try that if you have not already

I have Smart Stay disabled for battery reasons, I guess I can activate it while I'm on one of those calls. Would be better if there was a permanent solution though.
Thanks.
Yh i know it can be a pain. Batterylife could be better with juicedefender..Try It

I would love to be able to change it as well. I love having the vibration alert, I would just love to have a short burst or 2 like all my other app's. Not sure why this one goes for so long and intense. Really annoying if you see this from one of you what's app friends.

Thank you sir..... it is very helpful!
I'll cover this app later on the Apps and Games Thread...
I liked the idea and the app. Even have used ez answer but that covered the quick sms reply.
Dont understand why it needs internet, GPS perms and also read sms/mms. If the developer explains that it would be nice.

actually the main idea of slide to answer thingy is to avoid unwanted recieving of call i mean .....our phone has a capacitive tuchscreen which responds to even smallest of our touch if we have a direct answer button then take a situation like for eg: m with my gf and doing naughty things with her and suddenly my dad calls me and bimistakely the direct answer button gets pressed the call will get recieved but i wud not be knowing tht.....so slide answer prevents tht from happening....so slide to answer is very beneficial at such kind of moments....lol

That, and you can use the power off switch to end a call. Settings - Accessibility - tick power key ends calls.
Very useful for these reasons
1. Usually you have to wait for the proximity sensor to lightup the display then end a call.. in that time the person on the other end thinks i wanna talk more, or maybe he wants say something at the last moment and you cant hear it coz the phone is not on ur ear anymore (Coz ur waiting for the screen to light up)
2. The index finger is right on top of the power button when you are holding your fone, atleast mine is, so i can DC it instantly whn I am done talking. Samsung did some things right this is one of them
these two features (Recieve with home key & end with power key) has made life so easy!
I used this app, but I'd really like the HTC Call screen ported to the G3. Any way to do that?

hi
mee too buddy but what to do this is the closest we can get to that
i also have a tattoo(my wife is using it now) and it is real easy for me on that phone
I found these apps too laggy :/
The stock phone app pops up and after few second the buttons appear. I have plenty of time to answer with slides.
If there was a complete replacement it would be faster, but there is not...
HTC Call screen is awesome :L

While I like the app you mentioned,
you just sent me remembering a old days incident which happened with one of my close friend, i think it was around1998, incoming calls were Rs.8.40/min in India.
His father owned a bus service, he used to go to fill diesel and sign slips on petrol pump everyday, mostly with me and very occasionally alone.
One day when I was not along, he was bored so he went to university area, he located a few friends and was at tea shop, discussing everything from how cruel heart his father is, he sends him on bike on rainy days too, father has millions but will drive FIAT only, I hate these qualities, why can't I go by car to fuel the buses etc, oh my GF, she su**s me so hard and wild, I am flirting with a new girl and god knows what not, and to his BAD Luck, his ODD Motorola phone had his father's number saved in voicemail button which got activated.
To cut the story short (i can't stop laughing now), He was without food for 1 day, while Bike and cellphone were taken back for 6-7 days.
While this friend now owns a couple of Big Education centers, He still lives with his father, I am sure both may have forgotten that
So no way to port HTC Call screen to G3? Somebody PUH-LEEZ do it?!!
I'm going to be blunt here and say straight up that I don't remember how my phone used to answer phone calls......I know that sounds stupid but I literally do not know if I slid to answer, or pushed a button, or what....but here's my problem:
As of right now, if someone calls my phone while the screen is off, it will pop up with answer and ignore buttons. This has enabled me to "pocket answer" twice today, because when I try to get my phone out of my pocket, one of my fingers hits "answer" .......... surely it wasn't like this before? I have never had this issue.
How does a stock atrix handle calls when the screen is off? How do I get it back to the way it was? I feel like a full-retard for not knowing what it used to look like, but I cannot remember!
Call screen pops up with sliders. Remains locked afterwards. So you can answer calls without unlocking your phone. If you are managing to stroke the sliders in your pocket, who knows whats going on in there!
My phone has had sliders for answering/ignoring calls since I bought it on 4.1.26.
Do you have your phone set to auto answer? Settings, call settings, auto answer.
If the screen is on and a call comes in you should see "answer" and "ignore" buttons. If the screen is off and a call comes in you should see slide to unlock buttons for "answer" and "ignore". I don't think there's any setting to toggle to enable/disable the s2u for answer/ignore.
When you wake your phone do you see a slide to unlock screen or does it just go straight to the phone home screen? I had this happen to me and a factory reset fixed that up.

LOL! Well that's the thing, right now it doesn't have sliders, it acts like the phone was in use when the call comes through, I get the same UI, the answer and ignore buttons at the bottom...no sliders.....
how do I get my sliders back? I am using widgetlocker for my lockscreen.

disable widgetlocker and see if you still get the problem behavior. Here's an old thread describing your exact problem with widgetlocker being the culprit. It's over a year old so I would have thought it would be fixed by now. dunno.

It was indeed widgetlocker's fault. That makes me sad why would it change all of a sudden?
Yeah i had that problem with widget locker as well when i set the setting to disable all default lock screen. I was hoping they'd have this fixed by now...

I'm assuming widgetlocker was fine and dandy before the 2.3.4 OTA update right? Anytime there's a major release level update, e.g. 2.2.2->2.3.X, lots of things can go bonkers for 3rd party apps. Some things can break even with a minor release update, 2.2.1->2.2.2, but it's not as likely. It's just how it is in the world of software. fun huh?

oh . Well anyways you can always send an email to the widgetlocker dev(s). They probably already know about the issue but it doesn't hurt to send them a nice email about the problem.
Sup everyone,
Loving the GS3 so far. Whole new experience after using iPhone for yrs. I have a couple questions.
1. Sending a long text ends up as being a MMS(stupid). Is there anyway to split the texts? My brother owns a HTC ONE X and when he sends a long text it gets sent in separate messages?
2. Whilst being on the phone, if I receive a call(call waiting) or text message or even press buttons the other person can hear it all down the phone. Is there a way to disable this?
3. I have taken off auto brightness. Now when I'm in the home screen/menu the phone is nice and bright (I have it set to maximum brightness). However if Into browse the screen goes really dimm to a point where I can't see. I even try tapping the screen it doesn't go bright unless I go back into the home screen?
Will appreciate the replies. Thanks

I wasn't sure but if you meant when you launch the "web browser" the screen goes dim then I would check the brightness settings of the browser. If this is anything like my old Note there was a seperate brightness setting tied to the browser itself.

It' s not an iPhone that's the reason why you have a notification light BTW it saves battery too. What a nonsense to turn the screen on each time you get a notification. Are iPhones still do that? I don't think that stock sense can do that.

Cool app and works similar to bitesms on iPhone jailbroken app. Only good thing though is the quick reply but imo the graphics on this make it look way out of date compared to the stock messenger. Only thing I don't like is when in your pocket you can accidentally hit reply and have issues if u know what I mean. Great alternative though for the few people that can't live without the screen turning on with a new text, lol. Personally I like it the way it is, does save some unneeded screen time and no possible way to case accidental responses. But if u just stare at ur device all day waiting for a text to appear, I can see the appeal, lol.
is there any other method to pop the screen?
i have been using the power button to pop the screen, is there any other alternative method?
