Well about time....but the new swype update is now working on the touchpad. Working both portrait and landscape, with re-sizable keyboard
I downloaded it on the touchpad after noticing the update on my phone
using cm9 nightly at 120dpi

Cool! Thanks for the news. I saw the article but I am at work so I could not see if TP will finally work with Swype!
I have FlexT9 on the TP, but I have Swype on all my other devices. I will try this out when I get home tonight!

This new Swype version incorporates a lot of features of Flex T9 since they are now both owned by Nuance.
how do you get swype on the touchpad?

Sweet.... I was getting tired of having to switch keyboards every time I wanted to type in landscape!
They got rid of the supported resolution table, so it must just fit itself to the screen resolution now. Its so sweet to finally have a fully working tablet version of Swype. It also has integrated speech to text in it which appears to be working. Must be the mic is working in the latest nightlies now.

mic support is there in the latest nightlies....whether it's working is a hit and miss affair depending on your touchpad

do i flash it in recovery or unzip it and sideload?
EDIT: i sideloaded it, and it sort of works, but it cuts off about 1/3 of the keyboard

Rename original Vending.apk in Vending.bak.
Put new Vending.apk in \system\app.
Enjoy.
P.s. reboot if search do not function.
I read it's not playing nicely with Honeycomb tablets. What's your experience been?
just downloaded it
the home layout looks fine but sort of not ment for a tab like some of the apps are just little icons in the corner of the boxes theyre ment to be in and on the my apps page you just get a long list of your apps which looks like a stretched phone version :L
thanks for the link but i think ill put it back to how it wass

So far it's been working fine for me. No FC or lag issues. Improvement if I would say.

Just played around with it. It's not for tablets. Low res banners and small app icons. My apps section isn't that great either.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I'll old off on this one for a bit. Using it on my SGSII and it's great! But I'll wait for a better tablet-optimized version.
I must say this one is stable and working fine with my tab.
No fc and no lag at all.
Page loaded quite fast...happy with this one..

haven't tried in my G.Tab 10.1 yet, but have installed in on HTC Desire. I would say it is much faster.
There's a new version of the market out now after the Google Music reveal. Anyone tried it on their tablets yet?
3.3.12 seems to work good. runs task 5.1 and everything seems fine.

how about one optimized for tablets?
when I applied the same apk from my xoom on to my galaxy tab at first it was the right version but then the app updated on its own and it no longer was the tablet version.
For what its worth
Here is the same newer style of Market that has the right formatting
(Large icons and Text) its 3.1.5
hope that helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272152
Does it include the 'staff picks for tablets section?
yes
yes it does it, the only issue I'm having is that my tab keeps updating the market to 3.11 its pissing me.
I installed the Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard on my DHD, and it works perfectly. Then I installed it on my SGT 10.1, an it installs just fine but when I try to go to the settings it force closes every time. Is it not supposed to work on the SGT? Btw, I'm using Overcome 2.0.0

Just a fyi : the ice cream keyboards for lower versions than Android 4.0 don't use the sophisticated prediction model used by the ICS keyboard (which depends on 4.0 APIs). The author of the keyboard expressed it well. It is a migration of the old prediction model with the new theme and suggestion lint. It also hasn't bigram prediction.
to be honest, you're much better off getting Thumb Keyboard and using the ICS theme!
Looks great and works really well with the Tab!

you see the three buttons horizontally at the bottom of the screen in the first screenshot and vertically in the second screenshot, those change the keyboard layout as depicted in the button image (I discovered this by accidentally tapping one and seeing the layout change!)
The additional funky thing about the "offset to right" layout is that thanks to the wonder of multitouch, you can grip the tab with any of the "black" area to the left and the keyboard will still work as normal!

I was just curious as to what keyboard everyone is using on ICS ROMs. I used to use Smart Keyboard Pro, but it hasn't been working as well for me.
And I'm trying to deodex the newest Ineffabilis, but it's not working with the kitchen. Any ideas?
ICS Keyboard from the market. Works well and looks right.
I am using the one from the market too, but I really want the official ICS AOSP keyboard. Seems it won't work right as is, must be a lib or something i'm missing..

I'm using the latest Swype beta. I know the HTC keyboard has swipe input, but I just like the Swype keyboard the best.
Swype beta here, use hackers keyboard for terminal though, in landscape has all the keys need rather then flipping back and forth with different modes

Big fan of Thumbkeyboard here. Tons of great themes (ICS theme is sweet), multiple keyboard layouts, and good support. I use it on both my phone and tablet.
I use swiftkey X. I have been for a looong time. It's the best keyboard I've used.

I swap back and forth between swiftkey x and SmartKeyboard Pro.
I love using the compact qwerty version of Smart KB Pro in portrait for rocket fast texting, but swiftkey x has hands down the best word prediction.

I was very happy but I decided to give ICS keyboard by Johntanmi. THe auto correct on this thing is amazing. I am typing faster with less errors. I love it.

I was using SwiftX, but the ICS keyboard really nice.
I use Swype portrait and smart keyboard pro landscape. Keyboard manager from the market to flip them, been using this setup for over a year with about 15 different roms on 2 different devices.

I may be the only one that likes the 4.2 keyboard, but I flashed the one from the G-nexus section and it works great so far! And the vibrate key press is a lot stronger.
I was able to just download one from the market, and yes, the vibration is much stronger, maybe a little too strong, im not sure.

Yes Nowak4G HAS IT RIGHT...
once you are running ICS or higher all the keyboard switching methods are done in your notification bar. They do need to be enabled Via Language & Keyboard....
I am in love with the 4.2 keyboard. The keys just feel perfect for me.
I'm using the 4.2 keyboard also on my sensation courtesy of XDA Sensation Themes and Apps Section,I was using swiftkey 3 but not anymore, the 4.2 is phenomenal and the swipe feature is so responsive while also very smooth, I'd go as far to say I am very impressed...
P.s. forgot to mention the floating preview of your written word is implemented very well..

This.
I always wondered why people felt the need to flash the files from other devices etc etc, when you can just download it from the market right there, lol. I've been using it for quite some time now.
Is the 4.2 keyboard the same as the Google Swype Beta keyboard? I have been using Google Swype Beta keyboard and it is the best keyboard I have ever used! Plus it has the Dragon dictation built in which is amazingly accurate.
The 4.2 keyboard does have swype. It's working very well also.
