what was the last official update after EH03 - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

afaik eh03 was the last , but if i am missing something can anyone tell me if there was any minor or major update fascinate received after EH03 ?
thanks

According to VZW's website last time i checked the last update they show is EH03. Sounds like they've given up trying to keep it current or fixing bugs, probably because it's been discontinued for a while now.
EDIT: According to here: http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/samsung_fascinate.pdf the latest they show is still EH03.

Meh, I'm happy with the update. I'll flash the new one when it comes out too, but this is running smoothly for me.

Of course, it's better. However, you'll likely have to flash back to stock 2.1 JFD as I'd expect to you won't be able to update directly from JI5. Even the JI5 update forced people to do that (for example those that were on JI2 / JI4), I'd expect more of the same. There are those who have no problem doing this and that's fine. I'm just warning those who aren't / might not be.

Fine there are Odin official tmobile images over in bible sticky and take a min to flash
Yea you lose programs settings ...ect but IMO its better to start from scratch when using new updates. And not run into intermittent and compatibility issues like what seems to be going on now with allot of people
but yea this update works great no problems whats so ever for me

Thanx, but I sorta needed that working GPS last week, not soon. Besides, "soon" is such an evasive term.
This makes me recollect the June 8th outing of a policy statement by Cole Brodman, Chief Technology Officer @ T-Mobile titled "No Phone Left Behind". It was in regards to assuring owners of the HTC Mytouch3G that they'd be receiving a Froyo update.
Nearly four months later and zip for the MT3G from Tmobile or HTC.
Maybe I'm wrong as my knowledge of timelines is from the inside of my addled head, but I do not believe T-Mobile has had a successful OTA of *ANY* Android phone in their stable this year at all. It's not the most encouraging development. (I do recall the Behold II 1.6 OTA, but it was eventually pulled for bricking phones....and led to me getting my Vibrant for free from T-Mobile before the official Vibrant launch...long story).
Granted, T-Mobile does not develop firmware, so they are at the mercy of the phone manufacturers. Still, if there's any issue that is at the core of Android angst, it is this one.
Just so I don't come across as a troll, I love my Vibrant. Compared to the Behold II I had and every other smartphone I've had it's leaps and bounds ahead of them all. I just get irritated when P.R. and "spin" get out of control...
Of course, this thread was a warning to the people who hadn't yet flashed JI5 / Kies and were still uncomfortable with doing it. Obviously, it's not people who are (already) comfortable. Knowledgeable people are certainly free to ignore and flash away.
This is BS. T-Mobile... how soon is soon? How long have we heard there would be an update to the MyTouch? I cannot and will not wait around for them to OTA anything. I will be very shocked if I get an update in the next month. I know i sound a little pessimistic but who wouldn't?
This is nonsense, installing this update does not prevent me from ODIN to any other firmware. I went directly from JI4 to JI5, so whoever said that I cannot do that is very confused.

That's because you ODIN flashed it.
Kies looked for the JFD product code, then gave you the option to update.
Lol how ironic that they don't want you to flash the firmware because it has 'known' issues. But the firmware on it has bigger issues so hmmm

I can't fault T-Mobile for wanting to try to stem the tide of potentially bricked phones and clueless noobs calling in for support, though.

OTA could brick it just as well. Would it be Samsungs first OTA update for Android or the first OTA ever?

True. I'd like to think the probability of bricking over OTA would be lower. Since it would be an official update they'd also likely be / feel more obligated to provide whatever support they wanted to.

[Q] Verizon Fascinate Gingerbread Release -- When?

So I have the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon using radio ED04 on Froyo.
I get calls that come in with no indication. I don't get all my text messages. I once got a voicemail 2 days after it was left (this may be an actual rare fluke and not linked to the main issues with the phone). Sometimes I get no indication of text messages until I un-sleep my phone (maybe a random coincidence in timing).
It's getting annoying, BUT it's not annoying enough yet to take the time to learn about flashing and ROM's and radio changes and the like.
My current questions are...
1) Do you think Gingerbread is going to fix these issues?
2) When do you think Gingerbread is going to be officially released on Verizon for the Fascinate?
2a) Do you think it's going to run into the same issue the Froyo release had for the US?
Hm, I have ED04 and I don't have that problem...

Well lets see, we got a bunch of froyo leaks and it took about 3-4 months for vzw to finnaly release Froyo. We just got a gingerbread leak, I say another 3-4 months.
Hey, there's the unofficial EC09 leak, and a couple of De-B'd (de-binged, de-bloated) ROMs based on it. You could try those if you don't mind potentially frying your SD card, not being able to play video or auto-rotate your screen, and generally having more force closes than Darth Vader
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
You could try following the instructions here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132236) to flash the EC09 modem by itself (since modems are independent of the ROMs, you shouldn't run into the problems with the EC09 ROMs).

if there was an official gingerbread release before september id be really shocked

No Sound HomeBase just like stock?

Latest HomeBase (BLUR with kernel). When I first got the phone after a few hours you cannot hear or speak. You have to restart the phone in order to make or take a phone call. Assumed using a new rom would fix it considering the Sprint OTA fixed it but I still have the issue. After anywhere between 2 hours and 8 hours of the phone being on is when the problems start.
It was my understanding this was Software related but after trying a few roms with the same problem I don't know? Should I just go back to stock and install the OTA? Roms are cool but being able to talk is better.
I would. Also you should have posted this in the Q&A section or in the homebase rom thread.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
What version of the Home Base rom are you on? I'm on v1.5 with the 4.2 update and have no issues. So perhaps you could try that one? And I had that issue until the OTA update too.

To start, this isnt any type of development so it should be posted in general....
My question to you is do you have a Sprint airave in your home? That was the issue i had. If the problem is in custom roms try stock again.

I've recently flashed v1.5 and updated with 4.2. Loved it except that when I tried to download anything in the market it would tell me that there was insufficient space on my device. I had even reformatted my external and internal storage. Then I tried using the marketfix.zip. It would say it was downloading and then disappear from my notifications. I was wondering if you were having this problem at all?
The only time I have had a market issue was when I first flashes the ROM and it was the old market then it dud a little song and dance and ypdated to the new market at which point anything I was downloading prior was gone. But after that haven't had any issues. Is this the issue you are having? If not.....try to reflash the ROM

[Q] What did OFFICIAL OTA build 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6 fix for you? Not Pre Release sbf

I started this thread to note fixes or not the OFFICIAL OTA release on or about 101211 accomplished without having to manually run the pre release/leaked sbf, This way we can rule out any problems associated with that process as the cause. I have tested the following fixes successfully and my phone is rooted:
Voicemail played on my BT headset more than once without rebooting unexpectedly.
Stay awake while charged remains checked after opening kickstand.
Calls have not dropped yet so I am encouraged.
I can't even get my damn thing to go. I supposedly started it about 5 hours ago and haven't seen a single status message since. Whenever I go back into Update Motorola Software it says I can't because an update is already in progress... Yeah it's cool they're putting out updates to fix problems but 1. It's nice not to have problems in the first place and 2. It would be cool if they would actually download.
This isn't the first update that's sat there and stared at me for hours.

The leaked SBF and the OTA SBF are exactly the same. Exactly. You can verify the hashes yourself if you like. See link below.
If you can't get the OTA to download/install correctly, just download RSD Lite and the SBF from the dev forums and flash it manually with RSD lite. That works very reliably. See below.

This OTA was a pain for me too. After 12 hours of overnight nothing, pulled the battery and 3 hours later it worked. Not saying the battery pull was needed. Something different/wrong about this one.
So far, I'm seeing faster data (3G & WiFi, no 4G in my area yet), and all around snappier response. Let alone the obvious, like VIDEO CHAT! (That's huge for me, since my daughter lives 2,000 miles away from me, and I really only get to see her on webcam).
Pew! Pew! Pew! From my Mo-Pho!

You're missing the point...
This thread was not started because I thought there was a difference in the builds. This thread was started because there is a difference in what one must do to install the updates. Installing the Official OTA eliminates any problem one may have run into using RSDlite as the reason the build did not fix whatever they hoped it would. Not to mention the fact the pre-release thread is 80 frigging pages long, predates the 101211 release date and refers to steps one would not see/experience downloading or installing the Official OTA update.

I don't think you understand. There is no difference in terms of actual changes made to the phone between OTA and manually flashing through RSD.
The SBF contains everything on the phone, system image, radio changes, etc. Everything. You can completely wipe the phone clean and the SBF will give you back a stock working phone exactly as if you had Motorola do the OTA.
Now, if you are having trouble using RSD Lite, that's an issue with RSD Lite. Post the errors and we might be able to help.
Big fix for me was that I can now answer the phone in the car dock and play sound through the car speakers. Before, if you tried that (by hitting the speaker button), the mic wouldn't function.

Do you.mean the stock gallery or 3D gallery? I'm not having this problem, but have in the past with the 3D gallery. To fix it, I had to uninstall and reinstall the 3D gallery.

SUN-198_7-CM?

Can anyone shed light on the benefits of SUN-198_7-CM over 198_6?
My phone is running fine as is, and I would only put the new firmware on if there is some major benefit. Thanks.
I and several others have already asked this in the dev thread.
Its unknown exactly was it fixes. Motorola will only post a changelog when they release it as an OTA, and thats if they plan to (they may skip to a newer version).
The SBF is signed by Sprint, so it has been approved for use on the network and is probably stable for the most part.
Unfortunately, until its officially released, no one can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. If you are comfortable with a possibly unstable phone, you can try it. Otherwise, leave it be.
I'm running it - it brought me back to the excellent battery life I was experiencing before 198_6.
YMMV.
I flashed it last week. My Photon has been plagued by the random reboots. Since flashing though I'm seeing less reboots. Phone feels pretty stable but if your phone is fine now I would leave it alone.

Yeah, I will leave my phone as is then.
I already get great battery life.
Thanks all.
