Ok before something goes wrong and start become crazy asking for help to fix my sgs2, i have read the necessary info (i guess) to do it by myself , I have this backup files
1- Nand backup (when i first rooted, i made this in CWM, CF-Root CWM5)
2- Stock rom/firmware 1 file (from sammobile.com exact the same carrier PDA,CSC,Modem)
3- EFS backup 2 files (with HC-kTool, i dont know in which case use it)
So in the case i install "x" numbers of roms and kernels or if i brick the phone and want to go back to its brand new state or recover the phone, which is the best procedure? Obviously depends on the symptoms but, are this the options i have in base of my backup files???? :
1-Go in to CWM and use Odin to flash the stock Rom
2-Go in to Recovery mode and use the nand backup
3-Use a jig to go to CWM and use Odin to flash the stock Rom
I get a little confuse with the backups files i have, because nobody seems to use the nand backup, also i have read
[GUIDE] Fix an unflashable or soft bricked GSII from Pistachio
So could you just tell me if im right or wrong, i just have the root and i want to be sure to start installing roms

It depends on the kind of brick.
If your phone doesn't work very well, some apps have forced closes, the phone crashes and reboots several times ... this is not a brick.
In these cases, you can flash a kernel containing CWM recovery (or you have already CWM recovery), and restore the nandroid backup => done!
If your phone does not boot normally into Android OS, but you still can enter recovery and download mode, then it is called soft-brick.
This can be solved by the description you already have read.
If your phone does not boot at all - not normally into Android OS, neither in recovery nor in download mode, this is called hard-brick.
In this case, it is very difficult and sometimes not possible to solve this issue.
Fortunately, there are only few scenarios which will lead to such a hard-brick.
E.g. flashing a wrong pit file with re-partition option enabled in Odin, interruption of the flashing process at the "wrong" moment, EMMC bug after wiping with a "bad" custom kernel and hardware defects.
So, nandorid backup is a very good and useful idea. And I already had to use my nandroid backups after flashing into "unstable" states.
EFS backup is good for being on the safe side. When something has deleted your EFS data (IMEI, etc.), you can restore this information. But I never had to use my EFS backup so far.
Just to correct your list:
1-Go in to download mode and use Odin to flash the stock Rom
2-Go in to Recovery mode and use the nand backup
3-Use a jig to go to download mode and use Odin to flash the stock Rom
To boot into download mode, just press Volume Down + Home + Power buttons for some time, then confirm with Volume UP, and you are in download mode. (You do not need a Jig for that.)
To boot into recovery mode, press Volume UP + Home + Power buttons as long as recovery menu appears. Can take several seconds.

My phone is hard bricked after trying to install S-Voice. I can't get into Recovery by holding Vol Up/Down and Power Buttons. I can get into Download mode, but when I get there, I'm unclear what to do. I get the screen that says Odin Mode and Downloading...Do not turn off target!!
I let it sit, but nothing happens. What do I do then?
Can you provide more detail on how to unbrick using Download mode? And also about jigs?
Many thanks.

You will need: kies downloaded on your PC, a recent copy of Odin software and a copy of the firmware you want to put on (can be found on samobile)
Make sure (through your task manager) that Samsung kies is not running and start Odin. Put the .tar file (extracted from firmware zip) into pda section, you shouldn't need to mess with anything else, just check that re-partition isn't checked.
Put your phone into download mode and Plug it in. Odin should see your phone and give you a little yellow square, which is the go ahead to start the process if you don't get this yellow square, you may have problems. If you have a USB jig, use that to get into download mode but if you had updated to ICS it may not work

Don't have a jig, but can order one if necessary.
I'm running Mystic's Glory ICS.
Hope that helps.
It's likely it won't work mate but maybe give it a whirl. This happened to me and believe me I bugged so many people online and read up on so many possible fixes but in the end I had to send it back to Samsung, I was lucky that I had reset the counters (using my USB jig) and they fixed it for free under warranty. It may be worth getting the jig if only to do that (if it works)

First uninstall kies.
Then download and install kies again so that you have the latest drivers.
Make sure kies trayagent isn't running so kill it in the taskmanager.
Start odin
Put your sgs ii into dowload mode.
Then and not before you did the above connect the sgs ii to the pc.
If odin doesn't say added, try a different usb port.
Hope this helps.

After trying the lag fix I could not longer open any applications they just kept force closing. I tried restarting but now the phone wont even turn back on. it stays on galaxy s screen then just goes black. I ade a back up in clock work prior to doing this but I cant access it as i was accessing it through rom manager. How can i flash the back up to recover my phone =(
IF you made the backup using NANDROID in Clockwork recovery:
boot into recovery by holding volume up+volume down+power, as soon as you see the "white vibrant", let go of power but keep holding volume up+volume down. you will be brought to recovery, it should be black background with blue text, then use your volume buttons, to go to reinstall packages, use the power button to select it, that will put you into clockwork recovery. use the volume buttons to go to Nandroid->Restore then choose your backup, Good luck.
If all else fails you may need to use ODIN to get the factory image back on, information on how to do that is in the stickies. Search for it, you will find it.
You can open the backup by holding both volume keys as you power on the phone I believe....either that or it will go into download mode and you can then use odin to flash. Hope it helps.
Edit: nevermind, look at the pay above mine lol

Recovery
Thanks for the quick replys greatly appreciated. I click reinstall packages but ti doesnt go into recovery. I'm thinking because I called the lag fix update.zip it is reinstalling that instead of the recovery..I think im still new to all this. I looked at the odin sticky. is there a way I can use that program and use the backup that is on my phone or is it lost and must I use the one that is provided in the sticky?
You can install Stock Rom Via ODIN. I found the link from this forum. I was in the same situation yesterday but I ended up flashing to Vibrant5.zip instead. After that, my files were still on the phone. If you made a backup with ROM manager, your backup files should be in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. Reinstall ROM manager and see if you can restore back to that.
I cant get into get to rom manager because my phone just boots to a black screen. is there away i can access my internal sd without having the phone booted?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 follow the instructions...worked for me last night when I 'bricked' my phone by removing twlauncher with root manager
Solution
**********SOLUTION***********
Thanks for the reply's from those that did. i ended up using odin3 which took me forever to figure out lol. The brunt of my problems was getting into download mode. after searching the internet for which seemed like for ever and 100 unsuccessful attempts to get into download mode I came across on post that really helped.
I had to turnoff the phone, plug it in and wait until i seen the green battery indicator. Once i saw it i held down both volume up and down keys then pressed power. The key was as soon as the battery indicator disappeared you have to let go of power.
that worked on the first try for me from there it was smooth sailing. Odin is very simple but its the little things that are very tricky and because i didnt know what the protocol was I didnt know whether I was even in download mode or not, so these are some things to know
*you will no when you are in download mode because a picture of a yellow triangle will appear on the screen with an android in the middle with a shovel digging.
*No the recovery menu is not download mode
*Just because Odin detects the phone(Displays COM port in yellow) Does not mean you are in download mode....Which was my misconception.
*The "analyzing file" message should only appear briefly a minute or two max. Anything longer is not normal and Odin needs to be reset as well as the whole process.
*It doesn't take to long to flash and it WORKS I am back on stock and happy as hell =)
Thanks again to those that helped and good luck to any future brickers.
i just saw this post but what i did was to save the clockwork update.zip into my computer and downloaded this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739300. unzipped it and deleted the root.zip from the directory and renamed update.zip to root.zip and hit rootme.bat
the program will push root.zip (clockwork recovery) into phone and reboot into recovery while stuck in any screen =)
I had this exact same set of issues. Ultimately what caused the problem is the fact Busybox wasn't installed. I ran the update.zip version that supposedly had busybox, ran the script and then all of my programs crashed. The phone would never reboot after that. Ultimately saved it with Odin and was able to restore my nandroid backup after getting ROM Manager going again. Very scary hour there!

Super Hard Bricked my SGH T959 Vibrant
Please PLEASEEEEEE HELP ME ... PLEASE
I was flashing jelly bean 4.1 (my previous version was ICS 4.0 by ExROM by LightX). When I rebooted my phone it was showing the Vibrant screen >> "VIBRANT SAMSUNG". then my phone was not starting. it was stocked in the screen. i did CWM recovery but it was also not working. I have tried many ways by ODIN or Heimdell Soft Unbrick. but now i get into only downloading mode. no vibrant screen isn't appearing. only one time ODIN can recognize my phone then i haven't the t959 tar file. so i didn't flash that time. after that i gave soft unbrick by Heimdell's software then my download mode went off and not restarting. by the way when i downloaded the TAR file and connect to ODIN then ODIN couldn't recognize my phone. my PC can recognize my phone but ODIN can't. whenever i give soft unbrick the download screen goes off. i have tried two computers and two cables. same problem appearing. i have also tried all odin versions but these are not working. only one time ODIN can recognize my phone. further before, when i gave volume up + volume down + power button then RST_STAT = 0*0 ..... appearing and an android said "UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE" but now there is no android but the red little letters still appearing on my screen. PLEASE BOSS HELP ME... PLEASE .

This is the easiest way. Download Terminal from Market and enter SU (gives you root access) and then type reboot download
Your phone will reboot into Download mode
i tried the su reboot download and it didnt detect it and i reinstalled the drvers too no luck cuz it says usb device not reconized when in download mode but when in recovery or normal mode it is detected no issue
Here's how I do it if everything else fails. Have ODIN v1.3 opened up first. Next, make sure phone is in debug mode and make sure its checked . Next, while phone still connected to pc, remove back cover and pull battery out. Before inserting the battery back in, hold the phone side ways while pressing the volume up/down at the same time now insert the battery. Your screen should now display yellow big letters -
Download Mode - Do not turn off target.

Read the Vibrant Bible here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111 . Read the top 2 sections --Useful links and Odin.
By the way, is your phone rooted?
Have you tried using a different USB port? Sometimes that helps.
yes the phone is rooted and i tried using odin v1.0 and 1.7 ill try 1.3 idk if it makes a difference
One method I've read on the boards is to flash "Eugene's froyo that doesnt' Brick". Of course that is an Odin file so...we need to get Odin working for you. Like icandy said, try a different USB port and see if that works. If nothing else also post in Master's Axura thread and ask him/her what the best method of downgrading to 2.1 is. I'm not sure if you'd have to flash Eugene's Kernel Back Support or not. I know this isn't too helpful but hopefully it'll give you a few ideas.

My phone is stuck at the SAMSUNG boot screen part, it displayed the boot sound but that was it.
I downloaded the wrong phone version of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297
I can't get back into my phone, is there anyway to restore what I had.
I made a titanium backup and a nandroid backup aswell.
I've made relatively stupid mistake like you. (Not that we are stupid, but Newbie @ this whole phone stuff).
The best way to unbrick the bricked phone is by reinstalling the rom, which will wipe out the data on your phone (but better than having bricked phone eh?)
This step only applies if your phone is "ROOTED"
Follow the instruction in this post
"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948679"
If you do exactly what is says you will have your phone back!
If you could, go over this in plain english for me.
I am in download mode but this dosen't make any sence
"and flash modem via Odin. Use pda button"
Ok now I went in the recovery mode and reset factory settings.
was that a bad idea?

Would doing a factory reset on the phone (via the button method) void any chance of flashing the TW rom?
You are probably still going to have to use ODIN to get your phone back.
Download the 3 files from the link in post #2
Open ODIN on your computer. Pull out battery from phone, hold DOWN VOL and plug phone into USB. Once ODIN recognizes your phone, click PDA and select the modem file and click start.
Once finished, put battery back in, hold UP VOL, DOWN VOL, and power to get into CWR. Select install zip from SDcard, choose zip, scroll down to the correct file and hit the power button to install the ROM.
Do step 2 for the CW package and reboot.
That should get you going.

If you flash a official release from sammobile it should not increase your binary count, thus leaving your warranty intact. It is when you root or flash a custom Rom your binary will increase.
Worst case you need to use triangleaway if counter increases

If anyone's interested, I had to return the phone under warranty where they replaced the main PBA.
The combination to get to recovery is this (for future reference)
Vol-up + home + power button. Once galaxy s 3 logo pops up quickly let go of the power button and hold in again then let all three go once in recovery.

You guy´s soft bricked your phones thats why u dont get any where re-flashing, but heres something worth trying without risking anything!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUST GET YOUR SAMMY STOCK ROM FIRST FROM THEIR SITE
Use this Odin version >android.gs/download-odin-1-85/.
Above the country code and you can know the three-letter code which applies to your country. Now look for the date of release and select an appropriate update release for your phone.
Step-4 Rebooting
Reboot by holding Home, Volume Down and Power buttons. Remember you need to hold the Volume Down button and not the Volume Up button as in the first step. You will get into the download mode. So, you phone is now ready to get the firmware via USB.
The phone will flash a warning about the dangers involved. You should not worry as you are putting the firmware back on the phone.
On the computer, now unzip the Samsung firmware folder you downloaded from the official website. Now extract the .md5 file.
Now open Odin, select.md5 file in the 'PDA' section of Odin.
Make sure that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time is ticked.
Connect your Galaxy S3 to your computer via the USB lead. Odin will automatically detect the phone and a pop-up message will show. Now start the process of transferring the file.
Step-5
Wait for the file to download. Odin will show 'PASS!' in the box once the transfer is successful. And the phone will then, reboot.
If it hangs on the Samsung logo, don't worry reboot into the recovery mode by holding down Home, Volume Up and Power buttons. Wipe the data/factory reset and reboot.
This will in all chances bring your phone to a functioning mode. Sign in and start working.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The extent of you phone being bricked may vary, but the symptoms are often the same -- a reboot loop, switching itself off after the Samsung logo or never getting into the operating system. As long as you can get into the recovery mode, there is hope to recover the Samsung Galaxy S3,
no success
Hi guys,
your solutions are great but in my case it didnt help at all.
My phone still stucks at logo. Only download mode is possible, but odin wanted a pit file always when i tried to download the sammy firmware rom. After all i even downloaded the pit file GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit. But even with the pitfile and Re-Partitioning it didnt function at all.
My SGS3 T-Mobile can not start at all.
PLEASE HELP ME, i am helpless.
with best regards
