[Q] SWYPE beta, stuck on the installer page - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just downloaded the Swype beta apk on my S3 by registering. When I open the installer, it shows a page saying
Swype beta installer
Do you want to install this application?
Allow this application to:
etc
At the bottom there are 2 options, one to cancel and the other to install. Can't click on install. Can anybody help me out here?
And yes my security settings allow unknown sources and I'm unrooted.

SOS SOS SOS
Really need swype to work!

No help?

Strange, I installed it yesterday (and then again this morning for the newest version).
Tried rebooting your phone?

I've just updated the installer. No issues. I'd advise you to download it again.

Basically, the "Install" option is kinda greyed out... And this is not happening for this apk only, I cant tap on install on any third party apk now. And I confirm I have "Allow from unknown sources" checked in the security options.

The S3 stock has swype built in. I'm on CM9 so I cant remember exactly but:
Go into keyboard settings > samsung keyboard > an option like continuous input. (its the one above changing to symbols by swiping)

Issue resolved.
Switched off the phone, switched it back on after 5 mins, and voila! Just love swype

Yes it's a swype like input when continuous mode checked.
But what about the swype's shorcuts? I need them and it's a part that made swype mandatory

I finally got my swype to reinstall on my Sensation 4G after a ROM update with ARHD. I had to download the installer again from Swype through the phone, and then it let me install.

Swype?

Did Swype come on the atrix? I was dumb and never even looked. instead i downloaded the installer, tried to install, it said something about the install being unlicensed so i uninstalled it and tried again. It then told me the screen size was unsupported. So did i uninstall a pre-installed swype like an idiot? or is it just not supported at all?
If it did come pre-installed, how do i get it back? I did a full factory reset, and i'm not seeing it anywhere.
nope not pre installed. will have to wait for new beta version to support the atrix. I need swype too!
ok thanks, just trying to make sure i wasn't going crazy. I will miss it until support comes. Tried a few of the alternatives, and they just aren't the same.
Swype is on my atrix preinstalled

Swype is on the Atrix guys!!!! Two ways to enable it....
1. Go to Messaging or Gmail, hold your finger in the box where letters normally appear. After holding for about 2 seconds a box appears, choose "Input Method", then select Swype.
2. Go to Settings, choose "Language & Keyboard", then click "input method", choose "Swype"

Yes, i understand that. We've verified i was an idiot and instead of just checking for swype i went and grabbed the installer to put it on myself. when i did this it flipped out over the pre-install (i didn't realize what was going on) This somehow removed the pre-installed swype. Even a full factory reset didn't bring it back.
trying to figure out how to get it back now.
Ok, this is too much
Support : Then select Input method
cegna09: my only option is "multitouch keyboard"
Support : I'm very sorry for the inconvenience Chris. The only option is to replace your phone.
Support : You can contact your service provider for the exchange program.
cegna09: seriously? Does Motorola not provide the stock software image to allow for a reflash?
Support : Please contact AT&T through: 1-800-331-0500 and they are open 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.
cegna09: ok, i will contact AT&T
Support : If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!

I tried that. I did factory resets from both the settings menu and that method. The hard reset was actually what i tried first. My only option was to get the phone replaced, since motorola has no intentions of providing a stock ROM and flashing tool for alternate recovery.
i wish swype DID NOT come preinstalled... It comes with an old version and it popups the stupid popup when you change a word... I haven't tried, but Im fairly sure you cannot install the beta version if your phone comes preinstalled with swype. I wish swype named their betas differently so you could have both installed concurrently
you are correct, you can't install the beta, that is what got me into this mess. For what it's worth, swype doesn't support this screen size in the beta yet, so even if you could we'd be out of luck for a little while.
Someone atrix users posts swype.apk in this treads
OP, you could try deodexing your phone and replacing/removing the swype apk

Here it is. Might not install though sense it's not signed and all.....
Good luck.
And yea, do what RatTub says. It's a good idea to deodex first.

Swype not autospacing

for some reason, my friends thunderbolt cant autospace when using swype. i tried reinstalling, restarting, turning autospace off then back on.. holding the space bar doesnt "turn it on" like it does on my nexus one.
he just got the phone yesterday.
any ideas?
i am having the same problem.....sort of. whenever i am doing certain tasks, swype autospaces like normal. it has worked so far with browsing, email, and the htc notepad widget that i can remember. it hasn't worked correctly whenever i write text messages though. anyone have any tips on the fix?
haven't tried with anything else except texting actually. LOL
I'd love to know if there is a fix for this, as it is happening to me too. I was going to shoot swype a message saying so. I assume if they need to fix something we need to tell them it is a problem first. Hence the Beta
It was stated in another post that you need to re-enable another keyboard and then enable swipe again. It worked for me just fine.

I don't have the option to change my keyboard. No swype or anything. (well I have the option of compact qwerty and phone)
re enabled android keyboard then back to swype- still not spacing.. it is driving me nuts

Download Handcent from the Market -- auto spacing on Swype works on there.
well considering its a brand new phone, it should work on a phone that comes with it >_>

I'm using swype beta and handcent and its not working either. The beta, for me, behaves differently from stock swype. The one that came pre installed.

Must have misunderstood lol. Ya know this being a section about the Thunderbolt and all
I just installed the swype beta on my Thunderbolt and even with auto-spacing turned on in the swype settings in the menu system, when using swype to send messages shows a little red circle w/ line through it on the space bar. I don't know if this has something to do w/ some built in code on the TB? Are the rest of you with this issue showing the same thing? I mean still even having to manually space I seem to be able to type so much faster and I've only been using swype for like 2 days now on my DROID Incredible.
UPDATE:
So is this issue limited only to the built in SMS app? As I seem to have auto-spacing in the other apps I've tried... just not the messages app.

The Thunderbolt didn't come with Swype.
And yes, it's only the stock SMS app that has shown this problem. 3rd party SMS programs, email/Gmail, browser, etc. are all working fine in terms of auto-spacing using Swype.
On the official swype forum a forum mod said that this is because Sense isn't properly designating the messaging apps text input field as auto space/auto caps.

Seems isolated to the native Android SMS app. All other apps I've tried seem to work perfectly.

how to enable diff. keyboards w/ non-sense virusROM

yeah i just cant figure this. im use'n virusROM (senseless) n i can configure diff. keyboards but i dont see anywhere to enable them or a promt like "select input method" as w/ "Sense."
now i recently wandered onto SWYPE in "keyboards" which im pretty sure wasnt there b4 upgrade flash so i chose "tutorial" n WAS promted to choose a keyboard but couldnt do tutorial... well who cares...but after i chose swype n was promted in -"swype" not in "keyboards"- 4 tutorial i later went bak to choose another keyboard from tutorial n now i can do the tutorial but lost option to select a keyboard.
this all seems so stupid! how do i enable keyboards. this must be the ROM, right? I hadn't tried w/ stock b4 but have since lost my stock ROM cuz i didnt backup properly. i dont really want it back. i do have other ROMs n could always flash more but thats not the point.
Press and hold the text input field. You should get an option to select input method.

[Q] Swype problem

Hello all !
I searched my problem in the forums but its not mentioned here so I created this new thread.
When I had stock rom I loved to use swype but now I'm using CM7.2 and I installed swype and its working but whenever I want to type something I need to change Input method to skype.. it resets back whenever I open app like "messaging" next time.. How can I set Swype as my default input ? It always resets back to android keyboard.

Swype 1.3.1.9274 not working on Jelly Bean 4.1.2

I was prompted to update swype this morning. I did so, and now everytime I select swype it closes automatically and I get the android keyboard.
- Swype Beta is checked in Language & Input (android keyboard is selected and grey in this screen)
- Choose Input Method screen. I select "Swype Beta". It flashes to Swype. Then reverts back to Android keyboard immediately
- I have cleared cache, etc. and rebooted the phone. This brought me to the new swype EULA and activation process. Which I did successfully. I rechecked all settings.
- I have since uninstalled. Reinstalled. Reactivated. Selected. Rebooted. Etc. Nothing.
Still nothing but silence from Swype about this set of issues that are spreading like wildfire across multiple Android forums I am a member of.
Jelly bean 4.1.2 on Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ running stock android, etc
Swype 1.3.1.9274 (downloaded on 18 October, 2012)
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks!
I don't have this issue, it's working perfectly on my S3 with JB 4.1.2.
I typed this by hand.

Same problem exactly Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) running jellybean. I set swype as default and it resets immedatly to default android keyboard. Does not do this with swift key. Android keyboard selector is greyed out so I cannot deselect.
Latest from swype:
"We have been able to reproduce this in-house and are confident we know what the issue is.
We are still investigating this but will keep this thread updated as we have more information.
We'll reach out to you further if needed."
In the meantime they are recommending:
"you should be able to use Swype be disabling any apps that are in Android Settings > Accessibility."
Which is only a temporary fix and I think (and hope!) they know that.

I think I would rather use SlideIT than disable Lightflow. I sure hope that Swype fixes this bug ASAP.
Temporary fix....
- Settings > Apps > All
- Disable Android Keyboard
- Reboot phone
- Select Swype
In this manner I am currently able to run both Lightflow and Swype.

My gps is off and I do not recall seeing it on since the update - its normal state is off until I need it.
The only thing I can think of is under Swype Connect in Settings I have "Cellular Data" turned off. Even though it doesn't list GPS as what it is using, could this be the cause?

I ended up restoring the previous Swype anyway, as this method of forcing Swype to remain selected caused Tasker's use of the accessibility service to fail, meaning no detection of notifications.
Swype has gone mostly dark on this after staying mostly on top of this on the 18th when the issue broke???
Last thing on their official forum was "ensure that all applications or settings that are in Android Settings > Accessibility are disabled/turned off." And how should that be considered a final solution?
No word on an update or real fix? And demanding to be the only app or program running in Accessibility sounds somewhat unrealistic.
Be nice to hear something current from Swype.
Moved as not development.

I hope they have a fix for the people that have been having problems with Jelly Bean and no spacing or no capitalization in a browser text box for the last two beta versions. They haven't even acknowledged the problem!!!
And there are many with the problem.
I received the OTA update today. Everything is fine for me.
I enabled my android keyboard and rebooted the phone. Android keyboard is back now.
I have seen on their official forum that people are having issues with having two swypes installed after the update, removing of personalization/dictionary, auto spacing not working etc. I luckily have none of these.
