extra batteries - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

does anyone know what the model of the sprint samsung galaxy s3 is? im looking to order online for spare batteries but not sure if its the same as the asian/european versions?

Pretty sure it is the Samsung L710...
Or try SPH L710 WTK

EBay has some 2850mah (probably cheap 2100mah) So I ordered one just to get the external charger. I the. ordered a real Samsung 2100mah battery. I'll have a review when I run the 2850mah for a week.

thanks for the info guys. yea i seen ebay have some batteries for the s3, but the model number was like gt-i9300...so not sure if its the same as the sprint one??

Yeah, if its for any version of the S3 it will fit. Just be aware that the eBay batteries probably do not support NFC.

if you do not use the nfc batteries, will there be any errors on your phone that pop up?? as long as there isnt any annoying popups that you cant get rid of. i think i need a spare back up battery..... also, most people use nfc for the tap payments and the file transfers right? or at least those are the main uses of the nfc chips.....?

No, you should never get an error. And NFC will also be used for textiles.
Yeah I'm gonna keep the 2850 as a spare once I break it in.

Google Wallet Activation and Non-NFC Batteries
So we need stock batteries in order to use NFC. I wasn't aware of that when I ordered some cheap batteries with charger on ebay a couple of weeks ago. They work well otherwise.
I'm curious about the interaction between Google Wallet and NFC. If I try to activate Google Wallet with a non-NFC battery, will this fry the wallet chip as if I had tried to flash a ROM with it activated? Once I read the thread that referred to this phenomenon I deactivated my Google Wallet just so in the future I wouldn't trash it accidentally while I was playing with my phone's firmware once that's possible.

IMO those batteries are no good, I've had 1 for a week now, some cycles ran through it. Some odd behavior I've had, has only charged to 100% once, now it never reaches full charge[84%], and once unplugged at 84%, percentage on phone sometimes goes up, then back down below 84%. I suggest oem battery, Gold battery brand no good IMO.

{¡Q!} ¿any other extended batteries yet?

I want an extended battery but don't want just a mere 2750(especially for the price they are asking). I had a 4500 on my thunderbolt and would like something around there or better.
has anyone found anything like that yet?
I also do not want a huge extended so I am waiting in hopes of a smaller one.

errr... no, i want a 'HUGE' one. i don't care if it doubles the physical size of the phone or not, just as long as it gives a sh** load of power so i'd be able to play games or watch movies all day. wee!
I don't want a different battery, I would just like to see slightly better life from this one. That being said, I haven't seen anything besides the 2750 either.

oh and as far as.accessories on display, my local verizon only has iphone accessories out. everything else in the back.
I can also confirm that Verizon corporate stores should have this deal through December. When I went yesterday, one guy looked it up and said that the deal was no longer valid. As I was about to leave another employee suggested that the first "just scan it and see what happens". I got the deal. Apparently their system erroneously reports the deal as invalid, but it is valid...until Dec. 31st. So make sure you ask them to scan it!

QCell 1950mAh extended battery

Was browsing around on Amazon and saw a new battery for the i777, claims to work with the default battery door. No mention of NFC capabilities so if you're looking for that I don't think this is your answer. However, I'm tempted to order one just to see how it plays with the phone and if it truly does work with the default battery door.

I'm skeptical as well for it only being $9.
I understand that but seeing as how the GTMax battery was only 13 for the extended (and it works perfectly), it wouldn't be too surprising to see this one perform decently as well. I have enough funds to sacrifice $9, so it may be a worthwhile investment if it does work as it should.
Update: Took the plunge and ordered, will definitely let you know how it works out if it does at all.
Hope it works out. if it does I may scoop one up for myself
If it works well I'll be ordering like 2 more and a separate battery charger.

Had it plugged in for 20-30 mins getting files from SD and writing to SD.

Where can I get a Guaranteed OEM (Stock) battery?

I know there's tons of threads about the best replacement batteries and the best extended batteries, but I'm looking for OEM from Samsung, NFC capable batteries. I'm well aware that they won't be as cheap as the high-capacity ones, but I seem to have misplaced my OEM battery while swapping it out for my extended one.
I don't really want to trust Ebay, unless they're a 100% valid seller carrying OEM batteries which won't boot-loop.
Thanks.

You can't be much more guaranteed than straight from Samsung.
AT&T or Samsung.

Well, I'm sure it'll "work" but it'll work just like all the other i9100 batteries work. Boot-Looping and no "NFC" label.
Can someone explain to me what the Label actually means? Is the NFC chip inside the battery, or does the battery just "allow" the waves to pass through it without any interference? If the latter, will non-oem batteries cause interference?
Also, I went ahead and bought theses:

"Is this product: http://www.all4cellular.com/samsung-eb-l1a2gba-battery.html An OEM battery? As in, it was made by Samsung in Korea, allows USB charging, does not Boot-Loop, and is NFC capable?"
Answer:
"
Yes its an OEM Battery manufactured by Samsung in Korea, does support USB charger, doesnt Boot Loop and depending on your cellular device is compatible with Near Field Communication."

Holy Bejeezus. Looks like it will make the note a brick and a half, but the battery life could be ridiculous depending on how good the quality is. I know a lot of times the mAh are exaggerated on off brand batteries, but at 20 bucks somebody should definitely give this a go.
This should probably be in the accessories section though.

Thanks for being the guinea pig! Be sure to post some battery tests as well to compliment the pictures. Nothing too serious, just a comparison of a rundown vs. the stock battery with your normal use would be enough.
If it is able to make it through 2 days, this would definitely be the first extended battery that I would be interested in. For my previous phones, infuse and captivate, the extended batteries cannot make it through a full two days, making them pointless in my opinion. A full two days would be useful for trips and whatnot.

I'm sure your stock battery is just as likely to do the same. Hyperion is an established company that makes both normal and extended batteries for a wide variety of devices that I have seen, not just some no name piece of crap. And if your battery starts feeling warm, I'm sure you would have enough time to remove it before it explodes.
Your logic is like this: I pay 20k for a new car, so I'm not going to buy any aftermarket battery, because it could blow up. Have fun paying more for a replacement battery if you ever need one.

If this company is reliable, and their product is great, then there's no problem using it. I was talking about cheap battery you can find on ebay in general. Just make sure that you're using a good battery. If it got on fire or exploded, say goodbye to your phone's manufacturer warranty.

If aftermarket battery is reliable (3M, AAA, etc), I won't mind getting it for my 50k car.
And I'm not saying that this Hyperion brand is not good. I'm saying I don't know about it, if you want to get it, make sure that you do your research that it's good and don't just go cheap on it.
I know they can catch on fire and explode but you seem to have a better chance of winning the lottery.
Those battery covers are for international and chinese Note, even though the white one says "AT&T i717". Those Hyperion covers don't have a NFC antenna, so you lose NFC capabilities, if you use them.
And when nfc works on att and i have places in my area that have nfc the note 2 will probley be out....

Well no, but what other choice do you have? The bright side is it's only $5. I mean, the only other option is to get a wireless charging sticker (which breaks the water resistance anyway), or a real samsung wireless charing back cover. Both are more expensive than just replacing this flap every 2-3 months. I'm pretty disappointed in Samsung if this is truly the case though.

I hope I won't need to replace it though. A $700 phone shouldn't need the user to replace a part every 2-3 months. The GS1 (att captivate) had a sliding door that never broke in 3 years of use. Maybe samsung should have done that.

Just to let you know, tmobile would have replaced it, but don't go that route. They send refurbished phones that are more than likely to have more problems than your original phone.

Yea, I don't want a refurb. I have done that before with them and it was ok, but my phone was a year old. This one is too new!

How many people are having this issue? Sure hope mine isn't problematic like this. I'm getting an OtterBox Preserver case so i might just remove that cover to make it easier to plug in the charger plug. but then again, if the case were to ever fail, it would be nice to have that extra protection guarding the device.

So far, there's been 2 reports. One in this thread (obviously), and one in the accessories section. I've only had mine for about a month, so I guess that's why my flap is still fine. Hopefully it will stay fine though.
I found this for you guys. I'm definitely downloading this YouTube video for later use. I always seem to find youtube videos that have been removed when i actually need them lol

Hey guys. My phone is about two Months old our so and my charger port cover is already not staying shut good. I'm thinking about getting a wireless charging setup, but was trying to avoid it because of the cost. Anyone else having this issue?
Also what wireless setups is everyone running?

When you say broken off, it's actually detached from the phone or just loose?
