official flip cover - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, anyone here has the official flip cover for s3?
I want to get it also, but i notice that the phone goes to 40c when playing games, just need to know if the cover is able to take the heat
Thanks

40c!! Neways it shud be able 2 take the heat.. its the same back panel as the phones wid a flap coming from the side to cover the front..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium HD app

yea 40c is quite normal, even on my 800MHz old galaxy ace.
anyway thanks, i will get it then

The s3 has very good heat control, if it goes 45 degrees you will notice it will cool itself down again.
The official flip case is the same material as the stock back so it's not actually adding anything to the phone other than a screen cover.

I got the flip cover. It the same back with the flip for the front. Got it from play.com for 19.95 still feels dear for what it is. Was better then the rrp £29.99. I had the HTC one x with the v701 case which was leather and only £25

[Q] Removing light scratches from the battery door

I have the vibrant and it's an amazing phone, etc etc etc.
The only thing is that my dad used it before i got it and he didn't have it in a case so, although the screen is virtually impeccable, the battery cover has some light scratches and scuffs.
What are some tips you guys have to inexpensively rid the battery door of light scratches?
You could maybe give car wax a try if you have any handy

Work for ya?
Not bad, not bad.. it's not perfect as there are some very light scratches but it brought it down a whole lot. Great for such a "ghetto" fix. LOL.

use a mild abrasive like car polish then follow up with a wax if you want a sheen. this normally gets rid of decent scratches on the car from dirt racing so it should work on the back cover. rmr less is more. dont goop it on otherwise you will have a b***h of a time getting it off especially on such a small surface.
im scuffing mine up good in preparation for a paint job im tired of the faux carbon fibre look that just attracts finger prints too much.
you could also do what im doing and take some sand paper scuff it up then use a spray paint to cover it, then a clear coat on top to protect the paint. not sure how thats going to turn out yet tho.
You can buy new battery doors on eBay for like $5 bucks. You can get all different cool patterns and colors (I have a metallic silver one on now), or get the stock Galaxy S/Samsung backs (black and purple).

How to remove Carrier branding?

Has anyone has luck removing the Carrier logo on the back battery cover?
I ran my finger over it and felt it was raised. It could easily be scratched off. Wondering what anyone else was using, didn't want to scrape the glossy back. I like the clean minimalistic look of phones. Figured it would look nicer without the Sprint branding.
You will probably ahad better luck getting a back cover from ebay or amazon

You can buy a samsung orginally back battery covers on ebay for around $30.00, they are unbranded.
Try a sugar cube. Used to do that back in the day to remove branding. Should work on the back cover. Considering I keep mine in a case I could care less but a sugar cube rubbed lightly over it should remove it without damaging the cover.

Cracked my screen, best screen repair option

My sgs 3 has a small cracks in it, on the top right near the camera and it's really just annoying me and I want to get it fixed. I just want to know my best screen repair options, I know it's going to expensive , but what's the the best?

Replace through insurance imo

There's a seller on ebay selling just the glass for the white model for $26.68. If your digitizer and screen are ok, this is by far your best bet. Even if your phone isn't white and you want to stick with blue, you'd be better off switching the rear cover to white and selling it as a white model. And buy another blue one.
Full screen assembly is $230, which is close to what Samsung charges to replace it.
How high was the drop? Did you have a case on it? Just curious questions...since this phone seems to be fragile due to the large screen.
When I called samsung they said they didn't have a price for the repairs, how did you find out how much they charge?
And also the fall was kinda far onto cement. I was getting out of the car to put gas in and the phone was in my lap and it fell.
Also i had a case on it. The ROCK cases btw i love the look of the case but the screen cracked directly where the case didn't cover the phone which was the top
Someone in the US with an international phone cracked theirs and sent it in.

S View Cover

I got my S View Cover today for my Note 3. It's really awesome and gives a premium feel. Can't we expand the notification from s view window? And, can't we wake up s view window with multi tap?

No and no.
I got the S view cover today too.
I really like the material. Much better than the stock cover, as it feels like leather.
I like the extra protection you get around the sides and reduced chance of losing the power button when it's in your pocket.
I also like how you can do a quick note, take a photo and control music through the window.
But, I've taken it off and gone back to the stock back cover after about 6 hours of use.
A few things annoyed me too much.
1. With the cover closed, you can't see the notification LED. So, I end up opening the cover every now and then to check if there are any notifications. They should have put a cut out for the LED.
2. With the cover closed, if you say "Hi galaxy" to activate SVoice, it displays a message saying you have to open the sview cover. Kind of defeats the purpose of voice activation. I never used s voice on my Note 1 or 2, but the voice activation on the Note 3 is really good for setting reminders and calendar events quickly as you think of them. I've found myself driving, or typing and I think of something and I can add a reminder or event without picking up my phone. Can't do this with the sview cover attached
3. The cover is great when you're not using the phone, but gets in the way when you are holding the phone and using it. I tried folding the cover all the way back, but it's still not comfortable as the edges are Thin and hard.
Plus, trying to use the camera with the cover on is incredibly fiddly. You can't get a good grip on the side of the phone the the volume buttons are on. If you fold the cover back so you can hold that side of the phone securely, you have to be careful not to push the cover too far out it will get in the photo.
Maybe I'll try it again next week, but those 3 issues above are things that would annoy me frequently.

If you press the power button to turn the screen on, you will see the notifications. But, if your phone is on the desk or something, you can't just looks it and know if you have notifications as the LED is covered.
You can take a photo with the cover closed, but it's smaller than the photo you can take with the cover open and you can't adjust any camera settings, so only really something you would use for a quick shot. Handy, but not the mode you would use if you have the time to open the cover and take a better photo.
I bought mine from the Samsung shop in Thailand. The other mobile shops in the mall have copy covers, but they don't activate the sview display.

The actual picture is smaller if you take it with the cover on? Or do you bean the display is smaller

Smaller resolution. It's not tiny, but not as large an image as you can take with the cover open.
[edit] I just checked, it's 3096x3096 when taking a photo with the cover closed [/edit]

I got it from Samsung stores here in India.
Came across this cover, coming soon
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-ledger-flip-view-dark-gray-p/csf2ssgt3k-dg.htm
Have emailed them to confirm it is fully Sview compliant and about LED cutout since photo does not show it.
Anyone used Seidio covers before? quality/experience?

Yes 55$ might be expensive for US but I am in uk and have seen for £35 compared to £50 for official Samsung. The other big issue is led cut out (if true).
Thanks for feedback on quality, appreciated.

Roxfit Book Case (review after use)

This is probably a official case since I got this of SONY WORLD .
doesnt add much weight to the device .
Whatever method you use to charge your device (dock/micro USB) you have you Un-flip the cover since there are no openings on the left !
For the first few days the quality seems perfect and premium but later you get to see the wear and tear shown in the pictures blow !

Bought this case on the same day I got my phone
19/Dec/2013, one year old
Well it is not a great case but protective enough.
Pictures will tell the rest
Sent from my C6802 using xda app-developers app
Likewise,I have this case, externally its ok-slim, quite well cut etc.
BUT,internally its totally bonkers, phone is held in with (very) sticky tape, which means
1.you have to really tear the phone to get it out of the case-it will almost certainly pull away the bonded glass back away from the rear of phone over time.
2.If you shut the case when empty,it glues itself together- hard.
3.If you leave the case lying about open-dust,fluff,tobacco,flies etc plaster the sticky tape.
I've heard of thinking outside the box-whoever designed this should be locked in a box... ?
Sent from my C6833 using xda app-developers app
Now thats scary, I am planning to get a customised protective skin for my phone, because 2 days back I used a friends naked Zu and comparatively my phone feels bulky.
So the skin might help it be in original shape and I could even get a carbon fibre or leather feel.
And for the after removal I have kept the original plastic sheet which covered the sticker on the case, I hope that will come to use when I remove the case which will be soon
Sent from my C6802 using xda app-developers app
Hi,trouble with not using the silly sticky strip is-try picking up the case from horizontal(with phone in),and hold it vertically, phone will tend to drop straight out of of the case!Kind of negates the point of having a protective case if it ends up in bits on the floor don't you think! ?
sent from my stick of celery in mid Wales
Finally got rid of the flip case .
now I have installed a protective skin all over my phone , with a nano-ceramic screen protector !
Feels much better
