[MOD] Trackball Notifications in Succession [v 0.5] (CM-5.0.5.3)

I pieced together a way to get notifications to be shown in succession. This is an initial version and it seems pretty stable as I have used it throughout the day.
The way it works is by cycling through the current notifications that in the system and flashing the trackball according to how each notification specifies their behavior.
If you see some odd behavior with Handcent it is expected as the default flashing rate has a light off period of 0, so you can change it to custom with a light off rate of 2000 to match that of GMail notifications. (as I have)
Special thanks to ChainsDD for some help today with general Android knowledge and I hope you all enjoy this. Please leave some comments and I will do my best to fix bugs and make improvements (Computer Science student at UCSD)
Root is required...
** Please read **
This enhancement should work on CM-5.0.5 as I have built the jar against his source. I don't guarantee it will work for the others.
Also, I cannot guarantee support for Desire roms. I know nothing about how the Desire is supposed to handle notifications. If HTC didn't try to do something fancy (read: stupid) with the notification code, then this will work as advertised. I have no plans to use or test this on a Desire ROM myself.
Like any other development project on this forum I will not be held responsible if this breaks your phone in any way. It only updates the services.jar from /system/framework so you should at worst only see boot loops.
If you are having issues:
- Please drop me a log in pastebin.
Changelog:
v0.5:
- Updated to use the new breathing light code. (Sorry for the long wait)
v0.4:
- Fixed to use the eclair branch code instead of donut
- Options for flashing while screen on, at all work now (eclair options)
- Fixed the sleeping issue. Should now work with the screen off.
v0.3:
- Hopefully a fix for the issue of the notifications not staying awake.
- More debugging output so people can get me some logs.
v0.2:
- Fix for multiple notifications of the same color.
v0.1:
- Initial version with succession
Donation:
Please donate if you like my work. It helps keep me motivated and working hard on Android.
Downloads:
- Attached at the bottom.
- servicesv05.zip provided by me.
- others provided by RixKliq (post #225 but attached here)
How to install:
1) Nandroid
2) Rename download from servicesv05.zip to services.jar
3) Connect phone to computer.
4) adb remount
5) adb push services.jar /system/framework
6) adb reboot
Glad you made it! Get cyanogen to put it into his mod .

Do you think this will rock out with the Desire Rom... I am about to push it over but I just need to understand the differences between this and chain.. I gather no color distribution in notifications.. I have seen that Chain Version did not prosper on this Rom.. I keep forgetting this is from something that comes out in two months.. Lol..
Thanks..
Appears to work pretty well... any chance of speeding up the flashing? So far is working well with 3 notifications. Waiting for twitter to update and see how 3 looks. though I think it will take too long to see more then two as it flashes slowly.
question
so i pushed it to the system and i see nothing and how can i change it from 0 to 2000 ?
nice work mate- you should speak to lilH3rmit. he has an alpha version of Trackballcolornotify2 that allows different colours to be shown for different apps (stock and non-stock)... his has an altered framework.jar....
if you 2 got together the end result would an all in one app
cool work, but can you post a version with white text?
works 'thanks'

do you want white everything? or just the stuff in the statusbar? i can change colour of clear button and provider as well.
***edit*** here is one with white status bar stuff. just change the .zip to .jar as above- untested BTW but mine worked, and it was only slightly different. shouldnt affect the hacks done here...
Can anyone post screens?
//P
just a word- am using this with Trackballcolornotify2 and it works awesomely!!!! thanks so much for this one.

it's in alpha testing phase at the moment. Watch this space i reckon for something that could be awesome. He wants to make it so it will support EVERY single app so you can choose ANY colour you want for the trackball.
Ok thanx, that would definitely be great in combination with successive notifications !
Loving my N1 more and more thanx to you guys, keep up the good work =)
Did someone test i on Desire?
thanks! trying....

if not i will do it this afternoon
how hard is this on the battery - do you have to wake up the CPU every time you change the color?

[Q] Statusbar pulldown

Hi, I have a question.
I had an Xperia X10 and on it I had a Status Pulldown bar with the option to turn on/off wifi, bluetooth and other things.
How can I make it on my new Xperia Arc?
The picture is below, if you dont understand me.
Thanks a lot

Hi, I have this application on my tablet: Notification Toggle
I haven't yet install on my Arc but I think it'll work properly
You might want to try CM 7.1 for Arc - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102523
The camera isn't working but everything except that is pretty much good!

Any ST25i custom roms with working led bar?

Hello,
I tried several custom roms for Xperia U posted in xda, but not even one has the led bar working like in stock rom.
I'm now with stock 6.1.1.B.1.10 with Munenjis kernel plus some other mods and toggles.
So are there any roms with fully working led bar for Xperia U (ST25i)?
Thanks in advance,
:highfive:

I'm almost givig up of the led bar features because the dialer, contacts and sms in stock rom lag like hell, not to mention that when somebody calls me, first the phone vibrates, then the led lights up, then it starts ringing and only after that the screen comes on, a good 3-4 secs.
Thanks for your reply, :good:

in CM the led bar turns on when needed like for notifications, low battery, charging and some others. most xperia u users say they have bad battery support so most of them would be happy with led turning on as less as possible

Didn't knew a new fxp was out, going to try it later. But theres another thing in cyanogen mod that for me i consider a major bug, you can't edit contacts in the phone, only in gmail :silly:

Sorry but the led must be the thing that wastes less battery, everybody knows that leds almost don't consume energy.
The hungry battery eaters are: phone trying to have good network signal, 3G, Data traffic, screen/brightness, wireless, bluetooth, vibration...
I think that in the list above the leds of the led bar (there's the led of the camera) would be the thing that consumes less battery.
Just my 2 cents
For anyone that's interested here are the links for SXU newest FXP207:
Rom: http://unrestrict.li/fxp (CyanogenMod9 / FXP207 / kumquat)
Don't forget you have to come from 6.1.1.B.1.54 FW then fastboot flash the boot.img that's in the ROM
Gapps: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Led bar fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38057325&postcount=729
I'll try it later, waiting for your feedback :good:
Already tried it.
Bugs:
Even with the ilumination bar fix, the only color that the leds emit is white. Using ilumination bar notification app won't fix it.
Network signal in statusbar only turns blue if you have an active data or wireless connection, otherwise its grey.
In the original trebuchet launcher the separator line of the dock in the homescreen magically reappears in blue, even if it isn't ticked in options.
That's the 1st 3 i can remember, back to stock :victory:

I've been using the eXperince V2 ROM now for about 3 weeks, occasional lag on an incoming call if I'm in a game, but other than that I'm error free, and I mean even the illumination bar works fine. I recommend it to anyone with an Xperia U. Tried CM9, too glitchy, debating 9.3, tempted but after the last one I'm wary. eXerience V2, AWESOME ROM!!
try zperience rom

[Q] i9305, problem with Ripper Rom v13 (Battery icon + more)

So I also upgraded to the V13 and my battery icon went back to stock. Though I realize a lot of time and work was put on to get JKay looking as good as is does, I'm not a big fan of black and blue things around my screen. But yet installing JKay, with everything it has, was what gave me options to change my battery icon. Maybe this will help you Marcus.
I have one more problem which may not sound that tough BUT is such a normal feature that you only understand how important it is when it doesn't work. My clock failed to open. Tried many things including changing settings of app to 240p but no go. Set to 320 and nothing. You tap to open, the top clock bar loads and it thinks for a bit then crashes.
I have just reflashed V12 and clock works again. I'll keep v12 now until a solution comes up OR a v14...
Cheers! =)

Not my ROM, this is developed by ArtemMinsk!
Just sharing the link in here because I see so many Mi5 users struggling to find a stable and fully working OS nowadays.
Gdrive folder here
No need for external Gapps.

Plus it has a few nice UI tweaks (MIUI volume and brightness sliders)

- Several optimizations for a faster User Interface
- Android Auto working
- Notification Log is exposed natively
- Per-app cellular data, VPN and Wifi restrictions
- GApps included
- Ambient edge lighting
- FOD icon picker
- FOD Animations
- Blur UI and lots of other touches from MIUI like Brightness Slider and Volume Bar
- Some OneUI inspired touches.

just flashing it out. It needs new firmware. or else it will throw error.
link in case someone get stuck for new firmware.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/re... 5/fw_miui_MI5_V10.2.2.0.OAAMIXM.zip/download
looks good, will post my feedback after using it for a while.
Could you please try out the calls? I couldn't make them work in every aosp based rom (Android 9 / 10) I tried. I wasted a lot of time on that. On miui everything is fine.
I been using it from last 24+ plus hours.. I haven't been impressed so much in recent time with any custom rom. i been on miroom 10.2.1.0 since long, due to stability concern, and this rom beat it. Its really amazing rom.
Its a fast rom, didnt notice any lag, i didnt notice any heat up, call works, internet banking works (need to add in magisk hide), tons of customization, less bloats and VOLTE WORKS..
notification works great, which was always an issue with miui, delayed notification.
lastly about battery.. IT is good, better than miui for me, i was worried about overnight battery drain or doze mode problems, but that is working fine here, hardly 3 to 5% drain overnight.
only bug i found so far,
I use single sim, and second sim i only use in emergency, i disable second sim, i couldnt turn it off for some reason, but its not a big deal, i just removed that sim
Its too early for me to say, but This is by far. the best custom rom for mi5, i ever used.

Hi! I just installed this rom on my old Mi5 and it's just perfect. Can you tell me if there is a version for the Mi9 Cepheus? I would like to install it on my Mi9 but I don't know if there is a version for Cepheus. Thank you!
Hi I just installed this rom and there is not message icon and call screen don't appears. Someone can help with that ?
Edit:
Nvm I just had to install those apps.
I been using this rom for like more than a month now. I have also travelled a lot while on being on this rom. overall its good.
gps is kind of buggy sometimes not as smooth as miui, if travelling often, it might annoy you.
volte i am not sure, its my network issue or rom, when i try to send sms, it just resend them like 5 times lol. i turned volte off, so now its working fine.
