can anybody tell me what i can do to make my phone be able to tether again??
All i did was flash CM9, nothing else, =/
I'm using both PDAnet and Easy Tether without any issues.... follow the instructions that come with those apps... ...
so i cannot use the inbuilt tethering??
cm9 is still in testing last time I looked. maybe its just a small bug

So I know there is the wireless teather for root but Is there anyway to get the stock wireless teather in froyo working. I'm running CELB Froyo and when I try to turn it on I just says error. I'm betting that it's because were still using the old kernel but to be sure I figured I should ask. So is it not working because the devs use the older kernel or am I missing something
so is there a flashable zip that has a kernel that lets wifi tether work on stock rooted eris..? no custom rom. the reason im asking is i rooted my sister's phone for her.. specifically for the reason to be able to tether. it worked the first time i rooted.. but for some reason it just wouldnt work anymore. like things wouldnt be able to connect to it anymore. so do i need a specific kernel so it would work again? thanks in advance.

Have you tried rebooting the phone and the affected computer(s)? If it worked without a specific kernel before, I doubt if a kernel change would fix your problem.

I just updated to the newest MIUI build and its amazing. The only problem I am running into is that tethering does not work for me anymore. I tried the built in features in MIUI, Wireless Tether, and Barnacle WiFi Tether and none of them worked. The guide i followed went like this if that helps (because I came from stock):
1. Flash CWM 3.0x
2. Flash ROM/Kernal/GAPPS
I never rooted the phone if that matters? Either way, im on the ROM with no issues but that. Any help is appreciated!
For wireless tether, go to the settings, and change the Device-Profile to Google NexusOne. Hope it will work for you.
Actually its worse than I thought, I cannot turn on WiFi, its broken? weird..
Its MIUI 1.7.29 FascinateMTD.
Maybe broken in that version?
Fixed: It was the custom kernal. Re-flashed the ROM and WiFi and tether work.
My university has a secure Wifi network which can only be accessed by an certain app (Xpress Connect). I guess the app downloads and installs the needed certificates. However I cannot connect to the wifi via that app, nor on any other way.
I tried it under 2.3.6 KK5 and 2.3.6 KLA and a ICS ROM.
The interesting thing is, it perfectly works with CM9.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is it because it does not work on gingerbread? (I don't believe that). Is it because I used an unofficial custom ROM?
Or is it because Samsung and TouchWiz screw it up? I mean it works under aosp (CM9).
So what do you guys think? I do not desperately look for a work-around, since I am fine with CM9, but I want to hear you ideas about where the problem is.

I am having problems getting the "Portable Hotspot" working on this ROM. Every time I turn it on it gives me the normal warning that it will eat power faster then it tells me that the portable hotspot is not supported. I have wiped everything using the instructions this forum has but still no go. I searched through the ROM thread and there have been a few people saying they have had problems but are being told that it would have installed correctly if they would have cleaned everything up first. Is or was there anyone else having this problem? So far everything else is amazing. I had a Captivate before and have always loved using the Collective ROMs. Keep up the good work guys. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me.
So there isn't anyone that is having this problem? I want to use this ROM but I have to get the tethering working. I used the ROM to do a factory reset then used CWM to clear / wipe / clean everything then ran the install again today and still can't get it working. I am asking this question here because the forum won't let me put it in the ROM thread. Please help. What are the file names of the files that should be installed so I can see if they got installed properly. Thanks in advance

So I used the logcat function on adb and I got some data from the phone. It looks like it is trying to start the tether but from what I am seeing it may be a problem with something in or connecting to the kernel. I attached the output but I am new with these mobile logs. Can someone give me their insight on this? Thanks
