How to set password when factory reset - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to set password on factory reset? Means who want to factory reset must enter the correct password just can reset.

As I don't have tested it yet on my phone, I can just suggest:
If you encrypt your internal sd card (in ICS ROM under Settings > Security), the factory reset/wiping data should ask for the encryption password/key to decrypt the sd card.
...just an idea to check?!

[Q] Quick question re: factory reset

I'm not too familiar with factory reset on devices with an internal SD card like the prime has it. Will a factory reset erase my sdcard contents (ie files, movies)? Also, am I wrong to assume I'll lose root?
Thanks!
Factory reset will only wipe user's data. It does not effect the ROM itself so no you will not lose root

[Q] Completely delete all user data?

I need to completely delete all user data and revert to factory state
1. Factory reset does NOT delete all user and application data
2. Tried formatting /data in recovery, that too leaves application data on the phone
3. Have wiped everything in CWM that says wipe.
User data remains. I feel like I'm at war with the undead. What's the garlic and silver bullet solution to wiping all data off an Android device?

Did you wipe SDCARD in CMW? It should be in "mount and storage" .

Do a factory reset and make sure you tick format USB.
You have been deleting all data. The best I can guess is that when you boot up your phone after the wipe, is that when you log into your Gmail account you are letting it auto restore your settings and installed apps from the Internet.

Factory Data Reset

I am on CM10 preview. Rooted and CWM Recovery.
I want to reset my phone because I got some messed up folders on internal SD card.
If I use the Factory Data Reset from settings, does that remove root/recovery/whole ROM.
Is it safe to use??

No it wil not erase everything, superwipe however wipes the whole intenal sd card. Just do a factory reset and reboot, root and the rom will not be wiped.

After a factory reset all files stored on internal storage will be deleted.
So back up every thing on internal storage before factory reset.

when you do factory reset, you clear everything on your phone memory, so basically you can't recover what you stored on your phone's memory
i hope this helps

Factory reset?

I know this is a stupid question, but since I'm preparing my device to android 4.3, so I think its still better to ask before doing anything. After performing a factory reset, will all the apps installed in my device be deleted? What about those stored in internal sd and external sd? Everything will be gone? Also is there any way to backup my calendar entry? I'm using 'cal', well sometimes S planner, and I stored all the calendar entry in my device, not syncing with my email account. Thank you so much!
Factory reset will delete anything.
Sync your calendar to Gmail, easiest way.

I heard that there are two kinds of reset, one is factory reset (which is a 'lighter' reset) from the setting menu and another is hard reset from the boot menu. I know hard reset will wipe everything, including apps installed, and the same goes to factory reset?
Both will wipe all your apps and settings, only difference is a reset from recovery won't format your internal sd card.
