Hi, in april, Samsung released the Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160. In the past few days thanks to the user antsm, root was made possible.
I was just wondering if anyone is planning on porting any roms over to this device? It would be awesome!
Thanks
You gotta give it some time. It is still a very new phone. I got mine 2 weeks ago and I love it! From the posts in different forums I think there will be a pretty big user base soon and seeing that the Ace 2 already got root I am sure there will be many ROMs available in a few months
HEY!!!
Hey i was thinking to it... Can you provide me your stock rom somehow...
EDIT - please get me system folder of your rom
here are steps how to
1. download any terminal emulator from market.
2. open emulator and type the command with proper spacing as given below
tar -c system/* >> sdcard/system.tar
This will copy all your /system folder to your SDcard with name System.tar
so upload it somewhere and give me a link to it... personal message me...

Hi! USB-OTG (host) is possible on this device?
I THINK SO BECAUSE I SAW THESE LINES IN VOLT.FSTAB
# otg sdcard - Need to define path for /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc when it supports USB OTG
#{
# ums_path = /dev/zero
# asec = disable
#}
#usb_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage auto <Need to define path for USB OTG>

Hi!
I have installed the [BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX06 - "Stable" - Minor Fixes, but I have no WiFi.
In a previous version was included by default Debugging tool which would allow a terminal to be launched in order to copy the wifi-nvram file from the SD card towards the /data folder.
How to get the Debugging Tool / Terminal in this version ?
Any help welcome !
Thanks,

Unfortunately you can't. Use ConnectBot from the Market.
For the wifi-nvram.txt trick why don't you just use the user.conf file to bind mount it? That way you wouldn't ever have to do it again... Do it once, then never worry about it again...
Thanks !
For ConnectBot, this is a SSH client. how to connect locally: localhost I presume, But which login/password?
For user.conf file, I did not know its existence . have added the "cp /sdcard/wifi-nvram.txt /data/wifi-nvram.txt" at the end, let's see if this works at next reboot.
Thanks again !

ConnectBot works locally. Instead of SSH, choose "Local"...
Let me know if you need help with the user.conf command. Should work, haven't tried it myself...
Thanks once more.
the user.conf trick did the trick already.
Many thanks !

np. Figured that is the easiest method for fixing this... now you can just leave the file on your SD card and user.conf will always mount it for you .

Boot back to WinMo, edit the froyo.user.conf file (in the 'conf' folder on your SD card, where Android is...)
I like editing these files with Notepad++ but I think Wordpad will handle the enter keys correctly (regular Windows Notepad won't!)
At the bottom, you'll see a "CustomCommands" section. Within the braces ({}) add a line -
Code:
ln -s /sdcard/wifi-nvram.txt /data/wifi-nvram.txt
Make sure it's on its own line, look at some of the other commands for an example (look at the rm command...)
That's the skinny... hopefully it works! This assumes the wifi-nvram.txt file you created (with your MAC address in it) is at the root of the SD card (look at the command, /sdcard/wifi-nvram.txt... if it's in a 'mods' folder which is at the root of the SD, then the path would be /sdcard/mods/wifi-nvram.txt...)

What is this, I don't even...
If you're asking what this fixes, it's for wifi problems. I think someone tried this trick, and it didn't work. You actually have to place the .txt file instead of symlinking.
The g9 has a good file app can it be extracted to use on a phone like the atrix ? What I'm looking for is the network browser part.

I have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread
some time back but got no response. Some one please point me in the right direction.
This is what my file permission looks like.
PS: I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.

Create a blank file and type that command in it. Now save it and rename it to 95mountsd with no extension
Now, if you have init.d support, place it in /system/etc/init.d and reboot
Command will run on every boot itself
Thank you, it worked. Now could please have a look at my other issue, in this post I'd be really thankful.
Can you please tell me what could be the reason for my default rw settings to change, coz I remember when I had stock os I never had to do all this.

No Luck So Far
Been working for hours trying to figure this one out. Things to note is that now there are two mount points.
1) /mnt/media_rw/sdcard1 / sdcard0 (this has the actual /dev/block/vold/179:1 origin
2) /dev/fuse /storage/sdcard1 / sdcard 0
I've been unsuccessful trying any of the old build.prop tweaks. Hopefully someone smarter will come along and bang this one out.

Hi
on kitkat, you should unpack your boot.img file, update the fstab.* files inside, repack it, and flash it.
The way the img file is built depends on your device manufacturer. I did it successfully on my mtk tablet with the tools I found in this forum.
I am pretty sure that unpack/pack tools exist for samsung as well (for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/how-to-unpack-split-samsung-boot-img-t1810907 )
Good luck in your search.

Before 4.4 I could do it by "Android Internal to External sdcard" app, but this app couldn't do the trick on 4.4 KitKat OS, so "Foldermount" could be a good solution for you. All this app does is make a image of your apps (that you want to) to sdcard. The real files are located in external sdcard and only the clone file ( of max few KB) will residue at internal sdcard. If you are a gamer, this will help you until the real solution arrives.
Good Luck.
There is real solution! Or at least it works for me.
biopsin said:
Since Android 4.2 and the intro of multiusers there is a problem with bind folders across sdcards, making any attempt on mount bind folders as root would result in visible to root only.
Solution is to fool Android with temporary hijack debuggerd to create the mount binds for us. Thanks Chainfire for this workaround!
* Download both files and rename without .txt
* edit debuggerd.mnt to suit your needs (using any other dir then /emulated/legacy/ will result in read only if browsing folders from sdcard0)
* move debuggerd.mnt to /system/bin
* move mount.sh to any place with execute permissions
* execute mount.sh with any preferred method.
cheers!

Thank You biopsin! Thank You Chainfire!
I'm including my files, but 'mount.sh' was not really changed in practical sense.
In case of 'debugger.mnt' it all depends on Your device. You need to check which block for You is internal and which external storage. Just 'mount' command should help.
You can also use it to mount only one folder - like 'obb', which will let You keep applications data on external card.
Just use "mount -o bind /storage/sdcard1/Android /obb /storage/sdcard0/Android/obb" command in debuggerd.mnt file.
You can also have different 'debuggerd.mnt' files (of course called somehow different - like 'debuggerd02.mnt') and different 'mount.sh' files which will let You mount different things whenever You like.
Enjoy!

Hey!
I have some questions. With Android L arrived the custom ROMs with files packed into image files (like system.img). And I saw that cm12(just an example) doesn't need anymore to set permissions and create symlinks because they are already stored inside the image file.
And my question is: how can I store the system files into a image file with all symlinks created and permissions set? And also which files require symlinks and what permission should be set for folders/files ?..and into a image files, where are stored the symlinks?
I'm using Windows 7 and I want to make a custom ROM based on stock LG G2 firmware.
I have other ROM's as reference(with system packed into an image file, and with system unpacked) and I can look inside them to see which files needs symlinks..but my main question is, why these files need symlinks?
Thanks!
My two cents :
Cmd to find symlinks (in term emulator, you can remove the end of the cmd if you just want to see the result in the terminal instead of creating a file fic.txt)
ls -lR /system | grep ^l | grep " -> " > fic.txt
Note : in cloudyfa's rom you can see symlinks in updater script (same as stock + busybox)
