May have jacked my phone up.... - Motorola Droid RAZR

I was curious to see how ICS worked so I finally gave in and flashed Black Widow ROM. I followed this exact instructions:
Requirements:
•Android Version 2.3.6 (6.12.17x - 6.12.181)
•Safestrap 1.09 or Bootstrap v2 (safestrap 1.07 will not work)
•Download and move zip/s to sdcard-ext
•Reboot into Recovery
•Create a Backup! (dont say i didnt warn you)
•YOU MUST Wipe Data/Factory Reset
•Wipe Cache partition
•(in Advanced) Wipe Dalvik cache
•(in Mounts and Storages) Format System
•Install zip from sdcard
•Flash ROM (do not flash Gapps or DarkGapps)
•Reboot System now
This isn't my first time using Bootstrap. I flashed many ROMs using it on my D2. It installed and then I rebooted. Now it sits on the screen with Motorola symbol with Dual Core Technogoly. I did make a backup but I'd really like to use this ROM before reverting back. Any suggestions?

If it's stuck at the M logo you'll probably have to RSDLite back to GB. Remember, that M logo can be there for up to 5 to 6 minutes on the first boot, if that's not applicable then fastboot that bad larry back! (I got to be VERY proficient at flashing back, let me know if you need help)

Is there anyway I can get my phone in working order without having to RSD back to GB? I don't understand why it didn't work when I follow the instructions and I have experience in flashing.

I haven't really messed with Safestrap or bootstrap that much, I tend to just run one OS. The problem is that you can't even get to the start up screen for those. Simple when you think about it, right now (if i understand correctly) you're stuck at the M, which leaves you only 1 possible way out of that screen and that's to send it to recovery which will only wipe or RSD your phone.
Anyone else think of any other options that he has or experience with this ROM??

Yea I went to stock recovery to wipe data/cache just to see what happened. Of course that didn't do anything. In order to RSD, what screen do I need to be on? I assume the screen its frozen on will not be the screen I need.

You'll need to hold down both Vol buttons when you power it up then go to AP Fastboot. Do you need a link to the tutorial? You can YouTube RSDLite DROID RAZR and should get plenty. Let me know if you need any additional info.

I think I can figure the rest out. That's all I really needed to know. Thanks!

Also MAKE SURE you're at at least 50% battery!!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA

Not sure how I can check this....phone was on 66% before ROM install but screen is stuck on and I don't know how to power off phone. Battery is draining but more than likely slowly.

This was a previous post on another thread and from what I understand it works:
"Try following Steps:
Boot in AP Fastboot > Connect your Wall Charger > Press Power
If you're a lucky your RazR will pass the red M and jump into the Battery Screen.
If your system is broken, you have to order an Factory Cable. With this you can flash the correct system signed or use the modded Utility for CDMA Leaks, to get your Phone back to life."

When they say "Factory Cable" is this not just a USB cable?

Nope. Its different from what i understand. Thanks for reminding me to get one on eBay before all the ICS madness starts. Lol.
I mean you can risk it but I've never had to mess with it as I'm almost always above 70% so I'm kinda out of the loop on that problem.

I tried what you said...Went to AP Fastboot and it only goes back to the Motorola screen. So am I completely screwed here? Thought I need that screen to RSD?

You just need to get to the AP fastboot screen then flash it. I think you'll be okay to flash. I've seen people do it with 40%. Just make sure as soon as it boots you put that puppy on the charger.
Should take about 15-20 mins. If you're gonna do it, best to do it sooner rather than later.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA

I don't even know if I can get to that AP Fastboot screen. When I try it, it does nothing and goes back to my Motorola screen. I'm about to be off work so I can see what happens when I have a laptop around.

Yeah you're gonna need the laptop. Also, when you select AP fastboot you'll want to hit the vol+ button to select it. Hitting the power button just restarts the phone. Vol+ = Enter. That's probably what you did the first time.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA

Indeed it is. Maybe I can try the charger now.

Yeah, its like learning a foreign language sometimes but with only 3 physical buttons they have to make do. Lol!

restoring using nandroid backup, after wiping data

Hi, I am pretty new to this stuff, so bear with me here.
I recently rooted and installed eclipse v 0.5. Everything went well except I did not get my contacts and figured I did something wrong in the original ROM. I decided to go back to my original rom...but decided to wipe data because I thought that was the right thing to do. Now I have no idea how to restore the nandroid backup because I don't know how to get to clockwork recovery.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

After you flash a rom the first time you use bootstrap you have to click install recovery

It has been my experience that after wiping data the bootstrap recovery is gone. Or I guess I shouldn't say gone but it will not boot into recovery after data wipe.

weird, I had root and bootstrap still installed after wiping data/cache and dalvik cache.
That Might Have Been Read Wrong, By Flashing Recovery I Meant Pressing The Install Button. To Me That's Flashing The Recovery.
Have you tried just plugging in the phone to the wall charger. Yes wall. And wait to see if it goes to recovery mode.
If it doesn't work all I think you can do is sbf and start again.

ok:
what do you do if said event happens where your recovery doesn't load through after the rom installs with the wipe/cache wipe
your phone boots, however your usb conditions are stuck on usb mode rather than charge mode.
the initial setup starts but is stuck in a loop of force closes that never end.
i have successfully used Roms in the past, no big deal. when **** hits the fan i use sbf; but i'm stuck in limbo where both recovery and sbf are seeming to be out of my options - unless i can change usb mode to charge mode by some strange form of buttons pressed.

Unplug your phone. Hold volume up and power on until you see the m logo and rsd protocol starting.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
well that allows rsd to find it but - it won't just flash it and call it good. i'm getting all sorts of errors from rsd saying something about my ini
Code:
Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization value from INI file (0x7029)
i get this error before the above error (before i actually "start" it)
Code:
Chipset type 53 is not supported
restarted computer:
updated drivers:
no dice, same errors
EDIT: the problem was in the RSD version i was using, i got everything working now. thanks!

Ugh, issues!

Alright, I was running CM9 v13 until last night, but needed my camera for work(nothing portrays an accident scene better than a picture!), so I decided to reflash 198.7. Something terribly went wrong.
Read so many different threads and flashed so many different sbf's my head is spinning. I do know that when I power up and press up I get RSD, and if I power up and press down I can go through the menu. I even tried fastboot and attempted to follow some of these steps with fastboot. http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/rescue-squad/5358-alien-install-gone-bad-bricked-recovered-still-screwed-up-4.html
I am thinking that the bootloader isn't fried since I can get into the menu system, but even after flashing 198.7 if it doesn't fail it cycles through the never ending bootloop. When it does fail I get the following error on the device screen: SVF:106:1:2 sec_exception:b655, eddc, eb
Luckily I have seen Gman floating around here, so since he assisted big time with the atrix issue, I am hoping that he can assist me.
I don't have skype though...
I will have internet access tomorrow, but can't install anything to my work computer(toughbook, locked down like a fiend!)
Ideas? Not looking for a beatdown. Asking for help, from the community.
EDIT: Just saw this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394982For some odd reason I think this is what I did. Now it appears as though I am royally screwed!
Thank you,
Medic
You didn't have a nandroid backup of a blur rom you could have used? That would have been better than sbfing back to stock.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
When I got stuck in moto logo loop with no backup available I had to boot into recovery and factory reset then reboot. If you can use menu with power + down. On 154 sbf, then flashed 198.7 after booting again
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
You need to factory reset or wipe before flashing a sbf. However all you need to do to get a camera is flash a blur rom like skinny or rocko, or even cm7. When you're done you can wipe and flash back. I do it all the time

Grrr, I must have flashed the Electrify ROM. It boots into it, but has to make the phone call to activate. Can't bypass it. The Electrify has a locked bootloader?
Fastboot, RSD, and ASR work, or at least I can access them. Tried wiping date/factory reset, but it boots back into the Electrify ROM.
Not thinking my local rep will be able to help me out on this one!
Any other ideas?
Edit* Bypassed using the no bp option. Unable to root using Shabby's aio. Goes through the process, reboots, but when I attempt to launch system recovery it reminds me that I don't have root privs.
jokersax, why in your post for CM9 do you tell people that if they want to switch off of CM9 they have to sbf? I've nandroid'ed back without problems to stock, and it's a lot safer than flashing sbf's since everyone seems to temporarily brick.
it actually say just to wipe and flash a different rom. The sbf is to return to stock

I had a similar issue. Unlocking the boot loader I used the Sbf for the Electrify by mistake and not the Pudding.sbf. Only it bricked my phone sticking it on the moto bootup and just giving me some errors and going nowhere from their. Now I'm just spit balling here, but I have a prediction on how you can fix, do some research to make sure this may work and not brick your phone:
1) Unlock your bootloader using Pudding.sbf
2) Use Bootstrap to Install CWM for Photon
3) goto the mounts and storage menu select format system
4) Once that finishes go back and select wipe data/factory reset and then wipe dalvik cache and cache partition
5) After wiped go to the advanced menu select reboot recovery
6) Once it goes back to recovery Power off
7) Go into RSD (hold power nd Volume up+)
8) Flash the stock sbf
9) boot up
10) I would recommend using Sdk tools Fastboot command -W to erase all user data and cache after everything if it boots up
I would assume this would do the trick, the only thing I'm uncertain of is if you'll be able to unlock. (If it goes through a long method then says failed right at the end then it probably worked) If it doesn't work you can continue the rest of the steps using bootstrap, but If it were me I would want to try to get as much Photon on the phone and Electrify off the phone as possible

This is obvious, but I have to ask, did you do a battery pull and let it sit for a couple seconds and then try to reboot? also it's stuck on mogo, is it showing error 2,3 or 4? Or any error for that matter?
Did a few battery pulls.
No error, just the Moto Dual Core Screen.
I contacted one of my friends who is a rep, and he will strip the phone, and exchange it. Helps that his boss has a Mopho and he is getting one in a few days.
Thank you for the help FanBoy_Hunter. Greatly appreciated.

I am going to leave it stock(sigh).

[Q]Bootloop after SBF

So The title says it all. I was running eclipse 1.1 on 2.3.4 and i decided it was time to sbf back to stock 2.3.4 just to clear out all the junk on my phone and get things running nice and smooth for a new rom. Ran everything to SBF and boom i'm stuck in a bootloop. Not sure where to go from here cant seem to find anything. I've tried to fastboot but it doesn't go past the dual core screen. I've pressed and held the power and home button at the same time but it goes right back to the bootloop. Anyone know what to do?
Wrong thread. We have a questions forum just for... questions.
Anyway - boot into stock recovery and format data and cache.
Wow i'm sorry about my panic moment, Idk how i failed to notice that fast boot at the top was a scroll threw menu. Thanks for the help
Hold power and volume down. Use volume down to scroll to recovery and when you get the triangle hit volume up and down simultaneously
Tapatalkin' from my eclipsed DROIDX2
In order to make life easier for you wipe cache and data before the sbf. No bootloop
Sent from my DROID X2 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
As stated bootloop is common after sbf
since sbf doesn't wipe data ur left with a bunch if tweaks and changes that didn't get changed with the sbf
data wipe will cure your bootloop blues
The only time u probly wont bootloop after sbf is when u are using it to just unroot(I.e. u weren't running a rom or tweaks) or just to upgrade instead of doing an OTA update.

[Q] HELP - Can't get into Bootstrap!

long story short ......with the new beats audio news out i flashed that and got stuck at the M logo on boot.
I pulled the battery plugged in and booted but still the same, stuck at M logo. Why is my bootstrap not working? i used it earlier today.
I also tried getting into the stock android recovery but then it just gets stuck at the android guy next to the triangle with the ! in the middle.
How do i get back into bootstrap so i can flash my nandroid backup! Thanks guys!

Also if you wiped data your bootstrap will be gone.
not sure what zrecovery is?
i have the bootstrap recovery installed and have been using that for months without a hitch, just after i flashed the beats audio zip this morning (in bootstrap), i can't get it to even boot. im stuck at the M logo. and if i pull the battery and plug in, it won't even start up to bootstrap. I just want to flash my nandroid backup
i didn't wipe data, just flashed the zip. chose reboot in Bootstrap like normal and bam, stuck at M logo.....any way to force back into bootstrap? I was literally just in bootstrap 1 hr ago so i know its there....just not loading
Not that I aware of besides doing a sbf rooting again and installing bootstrap and then you can restore your nano back up.
Be sure to pull the battery for 30 sec put back and then plug in to get cwr to boot. Or Then try to access stock recov pwr on & rocker down to wipe data.
Thanks for the help!
As far as I know, the only way to get into bootstrap is through the bootstrap app itself. Which you need to be able to get into your phone to do. I do think you can get into it by rebooting while plugged in but maybe this doesnt work if you did something to mess up the startup. As was mentioned already, your only choice most likely is to SBF, root and install bootstrap again and then restore your backup.
I beg to differ. As long as charge mode was never put back to normal which is also a mistake.

Install BSR and NANDroid back...you did make NANDroid backups I assume, if not I suggest starting to. Good luck

Thats what I thought. But the OP cant get that to work from what I get. Is that method still supposed to work if you cant even boot the phone?
As long as you do not wipe data BSR should be installed. If you pull battery and put it back in before you even try to boot plug it in to wall charger. This will take you straight to BSR before you ever try to boot. Then you can get back to your nano back up.

Stock recovery wont allow you to flash stuff to the phone or backup your ROM or stuff like that. Thats why we have a special one to do those things.
Stock is good for flashing an ota (no need to rename just make it start w/ a number so it will be first in a mess of zips at the root of your external sd)
And wiping data.

[Q] Help - trying to go to CM7 - stuck at "Dual Core" screen

First of all, THANK you for making progress on freeing our phones!
I have read every thread I can find on this, but I cannot find an answer to my specific problem.
I will try to make this brief.
Now onto my problem.
I am on Gingerbread 2.3.4
I tried yesterday to go to CM7
I followed the directions posted here.
I get to step 12 on the " HowTo: Perform a bootstrap (or nandroid) backup and recovery of your Motorola Droid X2" where I am tapping recovery mode and the phone reboots - but when plugged into a wall charger, I get stuck at the dreaded dual core screen.
Since this happened, I have went into my ASR and selected wipe cache, wipe partition and also did the factory data reset while the phone was booted up.
Even in this state, which should be reset to factory if I understand this correctly - when I plug into a wall outlet, it still will not boot past the dual core screen.
Any ideas?
One question I have is, how do I wipe davilik cache?
Please help!!

Then I am stuck. I am not sure what this means "Flash cm7 Then wipe all 3. Then while still in cwr flash ReRecoverydx2.cm7"
I am able to boot into the os now, but it still sticks at the dual core screen.
I'm sorry I a$$umed you were on Blur. No?
If ON cm7 you must install the cm7 (see the OP) bsr.apk.

Hmm.. Well, I may need more detailed instructions.

to wipe dalvik cache you go into advanced and then scroll down to dalvik cache and then if you want wipe battery stats. That should work out of it all. If anything, sbf back to 2.3.4, root, and then retry with the OG bootstrap and see where that takes you
No matter what I do, various combinations of putting the stock bootstrap back in, it will not reboot while plugged in. It freezes on the dual core screen.
I have done a full wipe, it still will not boot while on AC.
Ideas?
You are trying to boot What Rom???
If you have already flashed cm7 you MUST allow it to boot ( do a stock recovery wipe if needed-stuck @ m) then install cm7bsr.apk.

are you running the bootstrap while plugged in? try untethering it, running BSR then plugging it in when your phone turns off.
What I want to accomplish is running CM7.
I am currently running 2.3.4.
This is so frustrating!
I am currently reading through the link in your sig, but that isn't clear enough either.
Sorry, I am not getting this, there is too much jargon I don't understand. LOL!

sorry, bro, are you booting into the bootstrap (BSR) while you're plugged into the wall outlet? If you are try to run BSR while not plugged into <the wall> and then once the phone shuts off [black screen] plug it in and then see if it boots into BSR.
You can boot to blur 234.
reinstall our old bsr and get it working.
This should get you to cwr.

Then flash cm7 and gapps then wipe all three than flash rerecovery.cm7
I would suggest SBFing back to stock 2.3.4 blur and then follow the steps in the OP for cm7. Seems your very setup is very screwed up at this point. Sometimes it is just easier and faster to do a quick SBF and start over. Just my two cents
Well through some combination of things, it looks like I am magically in CM7.
Thanks all!
