I am using the stock rom with the stock music player on the Evo 3d. I have my phone connected to my car over BT and I use it to stream music. I play 3 hour long tracks of downloaded talk shows and whenever my BT connects/reconnects to the car the track starts over. For example if I turn the car off to get gas and back on, track restarts. Also, sometimes when the player has sat for some time in pause mode the next time I go to use it (over BT or not) the track shows the saved spot and then a split second later restarts the track. Any way to keep the stock player from restarting the track or do you recommend a 3rd party player?
I've never had that specific problem but I suggest trying poweramp - its a way nicer music player than the standard music app.

I will give it a shot. I have been on an app download bonanza since I got this phone trying everything out.
Ya my stock player was doing that so I switched to PowerAmp, I also found it had a tendency to clear my playlist so it just stopped playing after the current track.

Is there any good free player that will solve the problem? I really don't need all the bells and whistles of PowerAmp.
Seriously Poweramp is the best most bug free player, even if you don't use all the features.

Search Google market and try some. I like Winamp since it really whips the llama's a**.

Mine keeps force closing on me whenever I try to view my music by album. It will show the wrong album names next to the album covers, and then it shows the wrong songs in that album, followed by a force close. Works fine if you view by all songs. Just wondering if anyone else is having any issues, or if it could possibly be my SD card.
I haven't had this problem yet. Did you try clearing the data? Settings - Applications - Manage Applications, then click the All tab, go to music and hit Clear Data

I need to make a slight correction. It force closes when I view by artist and then choose an album. I'll try clearing the data now. Thanks for the suggestion.

I get the exact same force close. I have done a factory reset, and a few various other things. I have just determined that the music app is buggy at this time, and I've been using the Google music beta in the meantime.

i actually have had issues with reboots while playing music. very weird, but using power amp has fixed it.
This happens to me with the HTC player, Double Twist and Winamp. It basically skips songs, randomly stops the music, when I shut the screen off it would stop the htc player and winamp would play. There's so many weird things happening, and they all affect the music.

Google Music is AWESOMENESS!!!
I had this problem. I downloaded mp3tag on my PC. Click on file>add directory and add your music folder. After your music loads, scroll right to the "codec" heading, and click on the heading to sort by codec. I am not sure what codecs htc's player supports, but I deleted anything that wasn't "MPEG 1 Layer III" (mp3 is actually an abbreviation for this codec). This solved all of the problems you mentioned for me.

Hi guys, long time listener, first time poster.
I thought I would share my experience with the music app. I'm also having issues, but it only seems to be buggy when my aux cable is plugged from the headphone jack to the car. The music will skip as if I'm fast forwarding through the track and will eventually start skipping whole songs. I've also noticed when the phone goes into the lock screen, the music widget that appears has both the "play" and "forward" buttons highlighted as if I'm pressing them. Clearly I'm not pressing them. It also bugs out with Google Music Beta, though the app doesn't have a lock screen widget, yet. I have yet to try other music apps beside the two I mentioned. I will report back with any findings.
Thanks for having me.
After a couple days of searching and reading, looks like it's a bug with the headphone jack. The phone is reading headphones/aux cable as a control device. The Nexus One, Incredible and a few other phones had this issue when they launched. mrjkwik has posted a link to a fix in another thread, but here it is again.

Works for me so far, until HTC can roll out another update. Hopefully they do soon. The link to the market is for a widget, so place it on one of your home screens and make sure it's on before listening to music.

I too have the Issue..
For me Internet Radio plays fine on Wi-Fi but not on 4G.
Did you tried Music app with both connectivity?
Internet Music functions great for me over wifi and 3G. It's not that many channels though. Podcasts also works for me.
Rooted 2.3.4. OEM Standard Dock and Car Dock. Not deodexed.
With the previous music player you could stop in the middle of the song and two days later you could press play and it would go again. Has anyone else had this problem? I listen to audio books and after I close out the music player I have to search through it again to find the right point.

Hello!
I bought the GS2 phone 2 waeks ago..and i running CheckRom V6 HD, the problem is with the music player:
You've probably figured, i put songs on my MicroSD and for some unknown reason the player selected one of my photos from the MicroCd and used it as song/band/album picture O_O
what can i do...?
now its using my friends photo, and its look really scary and disturbing
thanks for spending your time!!
Make sure the look of your friends matches your taste in music.
Nothing worse than have friends/music mismatch.

Stop using the stock music player It only messes things up and has no advanced options. PowerAMP is just the best!

VERY true! i just went pro when the discount was on for £1.27 or something. insane experience compared to stock/doubletwist/other ones. i got a bluetooth stereo reciever which plugs into any set of speakers got some insane party set ups for university!
I just got a razr (gsm on rogers) and When it connects to my car it doesnt automatically start playing music like all my other phones have. I have to go to the music app and start it playing, is there any way to get it to play automatically?
Don't know about the stock player as my car radio doesn't do A2DP but the music player Poweramp has a resume on connect to bluetooth option.

Even if the stock app supported resume on connect it wouldn't matter since it can't remember what was played last.
I know the power amp & n7 player will resume on connect, I'm sure most other players should as well but I've only used those 2 with BT.

That's odd, here's a screen shot of my car dock home with a power amp widget on it. The main app shows the same thing but puts artist-album on 1 line.

trying another app
Download Tasker. simply the best automation app for your android. i have mine set up to present me with a list of apps with icons whenever my phone connects to my head unit in the car.
so when it connects i can choose between Pandora, G Music, Dood's, or Maps.
of course you can tell it to simply open your app of choice as well
Opening the app doesnt help it needs to start a playlist as well. Looks like the latam ics solves the problem because it will play a playlist if you set it up under smart actions now. Hopefully it works i havent tried it but i did set it up to play the playlist whenmit connects to my car bluetooth
I'm having issues when playing back music on my HTC one using the stock music player. The playback works fine for a couple of tracks but then the music just keeps skipping on to the next track. The skipping is infinite and won't stop. Even after I kill the app and try to restart the music, the skipping continues. I'm forced to reboot the device and kill all apps running on the phone to stop the skipping, however, even after the reboot when I restart the music player, after a few songs the problem continues. In my search for a fix of the issue I've noticed this to be an issue on the HTC one x. I've tried the disable auto play app as well as trying to use the phone in airplane mode but neither of those fixes have helped. This issue occurs when I'm using the stock headphones and the stock music player. This phone has been otherwise great but I do use my phone as a music player with headphones so I'm hoping someone here can help me out or if not I'm wondering if I should try and have it replaced under warranty since the phone is less than a month old. Thanks in advance for the assistance with this issue.
I'm having the same issue. Anyone? I've also experienced issues with audio studdering badly when streaming. Bandwidth isn't the issue, I know that much... It's especially bad with Pandora

i use isyncr to transfer and sync music between the HTC One and iTunes ... this happened to me once when the app didnt upload my songs correctly and messed up the playlist files. ... erase all songs and start over again .. see if that helps ... it seemed to help me ..
