Are the boot loaders unlocked yet? CDMA Verizon Wireless Razr Maxx - Motorola Droid RAZR

I'm waiting until the boot loaders are unlocked before I mess with rooting and flashing roms.

Oh..I think we can wait for ever until Moto unlocks the bootloader....

We have Kexec as a future prospect . Kholk will start developing it again when the ICS OTA hits.

I might be wrong but without an unlocked bootloader how do you plan on running anything but the moto kernel?

As unfortunate as that may be (and it is really unfortunate) my CM7 work is going to be based on Moto's kernel because I have no choice in the matter atm. That being said, it only takes a few tweaks to make a new boot.img that can be flashed to the phone if and when we get an unlocked bootloader.

Wouldn't it work using 2nd init, similar to the OG X?

Just out of curiosity, For unlocked phones, is the cm7 ROM use the same kernel for all phones? Or is it tailor made for a specific phone?

Which phone do you think they will crack first? More then likely the Bionic, besides, its a much better device.
Don't forget there will be even better choices on VZW than Bionic b4 in a month or 2

I'm betting that unless dev files are found, which is entirely random, it doesn't happen. But im willing to donate a lot for the person who gets it done =D

Haven't you noticed that only tegra devices have been unlocked. The bionic might be in the same boat as the og dx

I am glad actually that I have until the end of November for my contract to be up. There are a few devices I am waiting on and I am keeping my fingers crossed for a ICS Nexus device by XMAS.

Whats preventing full recovery?

What is the hold up on the motorola Razr currently? This is my first motorola device so im kinda baffled that we dont have a flashable recovery and custom roms.
- Of course I understand DEVS are busy to. I mean no disrespect. Just curious about the device and whats going on with it.
Locked boot loader.

And those 3 words are why I am not buying another Motorola product.
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
So does the Bionic, but it got an FXZ file and roms pretty quick, didnt it?
Everybody say that " I am not buying another Motorola product again " but frankly they always buy motorola products again.
@OP,
We have root and a working recovery, motorola will release bootloader unlock with ICS update for the (XT910), so we as razr owners need some patience while enjoying our new toys. I am sure XT912's will have their bootloader unlocked somehow.

Droid RAZR sbf

Is the sbf for the RAZR going to be released anytime soon?
I would really like root access to stay playing with this device, but will not proceed until I have a recovery method.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
android 2.3.5 sbf is already leaked: more info on this thread
[edit]
sorry, i noticed you need DROID Razr sbf (Verizon USA), non Razr (Europe no brand). No sbf is available
I think you posted on the wrong forum. Motorola is who you want to ask.

Motorola doesn't (officially) release SBFs. They have to be leaked.

Unlock bootloader

Hello everyone i tried looking around this forum but cant find what i need do i need to have the bootloader unlocked to have root access and whats the safest way to root my device

Unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone are two separate processes, and you don't need one to have the other.
As far as root methods and the rest, have you looked here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393519

Unlocking the bootloader allows you to load roms like CM7, CM9, MIUI - anything that uses a custom kernel. It also allows you to load up a custom recovery.

For now, the only Motorola smartphones scheduled to get ICS in 2012 are thr Photon 4G, Atrix 4G and Atrix 2 starting in July. The rest of Motorola's lineup, including the Droid 4 and Droid Razr Maxx are in the evaluation and planning stage, and that means there is no guarantee they will be updated.

OTA Update from Leaked ICS build...

So I'm on the leaked .84 build of ICS. If/when the OTA update comes next week, what will I have to do? Will it prompt me to update? Will I have to roll back to stock Gingerbread to get it (and if so, how do I do that)?
Sent from my DROID RAZR Maxx using XDA Premium
You'd have to return to completely stock. Fastboot back to .181.

You are off the upgrade path so you'll need to use one of the unstuck methods to move to the ota version. Or wait for fast boot files. You cannot just flash back to gb. That will soft brick your device.

Follow the instructions in that thread.

I don't know why you are still on 84 but once the ota drops you are going to have to use the same method we used to get off of 84 to get you flashed forward to the ota. Might as well flash 211 today to get familiar w it. You can't do anything else w 84 anyway,
