Can you select micro SD as default storage for camera? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I was just wondering if you are able to select the sd card in the camera setting to use it as storage for pictures and recorded videos you've taken rather than use the internal memory.

Yes you can set the camera to default store to the SD card.

Yup, once its inserted, it asks you once you first open it. Then just select it.

or you just go into settings from the cam app and select from there

But burst mode shots default to internal regardless if setting is set to sd card. I can only assume to capture so fast without writing to card. A bit annoying.

Change Camera/video directory

Any way to change or customize the directory where the pictures go when you take them or record a video?

IIRC, you can only choose if you want them stored to internal or external sdcard, not the exact folder

can't transfter large files to external sd card even after formatting to exfat

i put my sd card (32 GB) to the card reader and formatted it to exfat system
when i try to transfer large files (5 GB and above) when the card is still in the card reader it works just fine but when i try to do it from the SGS 3 device it tells me that the file is too big

I think he means when connecting the S3 to the computer with the SD card inside of the phone.
I'm just throwing out my thoughts... you could try disabling the default transfer method of the S3, which is MTP. When connected there's an option to disable MTP. Maybe that could work...

Click "connected to PC" in states bar when you connected to PC, but I don't think it's gonna work as default is MTP, and other one is only for photo, pictures, video, don't know if it can transfer other files

Lost Pics from Camera Folder

For the second time, I have lost all pictures I've take with this phone that automatically get put in the camera folder. I have camera set to store on SD card. Gone. Can't find in file managers. Anyone have this happen or have an explanation? Or how to get them back? Stock, unrooted.

So it's set to store to external SD card? Hmm I'm just guessing here but maybe just an issue with the SD card,, have you tried reformatting it ? I'd either try that or swap it out with another card and see if it happens again. Maybe that card is corrupt.
Again I'm kind of speculating... since it's probably not a ROM issue since your stock unrooted

Have you tried putting the card into a computer and seeing if they are still there? You could always use Recuva once you put it in your physical computer. Also what kind of card is it? Size?

How to transfer pictures and videos saved on internal memory to SD

My internal storage is almost completely used up and it's mainly because of the pictures and videos I took. How do I move them to SD? I'm using Cyanogenmod 12.1

Go to storage in settings and the 2nd to bottom option is to transfer data to sd card! Done!!
Or use a file manager and transfer to your SD card only the videos and images that you choose.
I have to say though, that the method mentioned above, is nuch easier and less time consuming

I sure am surprised CM would have fewer features than stock.
