[MOD][ICS][BROWSER]99 tabs, Faster Tab Animation, 6 User Agents - Galaxy S II Android Development

For those who tired of "Can't open a new window until you close one.", this mod will give you the ability to open unlimited (actually it's 99) windows.
Not only that, I've reduced the zoom out tab animation duration, making it to be faster.
There is also an user agent switching option in the advanced settings, giving you 6 options of user agents.

Requirement:
Any ROMs that are based on Samsung ICS ROM
How to install:
1. Reboot to CWM
2. Flash
Known issue:
There won't be 99 tab indicators when you have 99 tabs because it does not fit the screen.
As shown in the pics above, in portrait mode, max tab indicators are 11. While in landscape mode, max tab indicators are 18.

If this is true this is a big deal, big thanks to the op, this also voids the ics+ browser in the market, oh well sucks to be that dev.
How do we go about spreading the word
Hmmm maybe you can email some of the big rom devs like litepro and the people behind villain rom with your achievement

Before this thread grows out of control, and hikarugo, stops bothering to reply because there are to many newbies asking the same question, I would like help or advice on one thing.
Playing streams intended for iPhone and iPad (*.m3u8 files/links)
In gingerbread i could tap on a link in the browser (for example from www.tvcatchup.com) which was intended for Apple devices and it would just play, but now in ics
When playing streams intended for iPhone:-
A dialogue box pops up asking if i want to play using "android system" or "internet browser" of which the only one that works is android system but there is no tick box to make it default, before playing the video.
Even weirder
When playing streams intended for iPad:-
A dialogue box pops up asking if i want to play using "android system" or "internet browser" so you choose android system but when the video tries to play you get unsupported video type in the media player BUT if you request the desktop version of the ipad site and then request video and choose android system it works perfectly in iPad higher resolution.
TBH i have lost track of what I'm asking you.
In short can you get your browser to default to choosing android system when an m3u8 file is selected.
Thanks

Autostarts

Have you ever wondered just what is running in the background, using up all your memory, draining your battery and why/how apps can start themselves back up even after you have stopped them running either through the settings menu or with a task killer............
I did, so I looked into this app and this is what I've figured out so far.
Some apps (Google maps for example, as this is one of the worst culprits I've found so far) have rules built into them which can start the app running in the background whenever a certain parameter is met on your phone, this means that no matter how many times you kill the app it can always find a rule to get going again which is another reason you shouldn't use a task killer as they create an endless cycle app starts task killer kills it app starts again task killer kil........ you get the picture? Which often ends up using more resources which our wildfires are seriously lacking.
Some of the rules are ridiculous too such as Google maps can start itself simply by you plugging in the phones charger.
Well anyway back to the point, this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts&hl=en autostarts can disable those rules (needs root access) and the best way to use it I feel is like this.
Start the app and wait a minute for it to load, then hit your menu button and choose group by application .
Search through the list and disable the parameters for apps you don't want running in the background.
Be very careful with system apps as some can stuff up the phone.
This app increases the speed of my phone big time and allows me to control what us running and when. I'd say its the best app I've ever bought.

Hi would this effect v6 supercharged script if i used this? this sounds a good app
Not to my knowledge, I'm running v6 too.
All it does is break the rules so an app you don't need in the background can't start until you allow it to by selecting it from the app drawer, then if you close/kill the app when you're done with it it shouldn't start up again by itself.

Thanks for reply. I will get it now. Can i ask a quick question? How do display your setup on each post? do you write it each time or copy paste? Sorry, its just new to commenting here and only been reading the forum for a year, learning lol.
---------- Post added at 06:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:12 PM ----------
sorry, me again could i just ask you what you set Google maps permissions in Autostart? as i can see, Ive turned all off apart from bottom 2. As the permissions seem not needed.
The way I set it up is all or nothing, that way every loophole is closed for apps I don't want running.
You can change your signature by clicking on your username top right, from there I can't remember as I'm not at a PC.
Click around in your profile till you find signature tab or edit signature.

Thanks for help Ive set one up now. I have found a logo picture from Google images of cm7.
I hope i haven't copied anyone's but if i have please pm me and ill change it.
Interesting app, will definitely try soon.
Feck me sideways!!!
Best app ever. Period.
Thanks for telling me about this app.
So all i have 2 do is to cross out apps that run when i "reboot"?
This is the 1st option of autostarts.
Thats all ?
Kind of but if an app doesn't really need to run, look at this picture and read the labels,
For example Google maps can start itself by plugging in your charger or installing a new app.

}
So to me the best way to deal with it would be to cancel everything then it will only start when i want it to and if you close it properly it won't hang about in the background.

[TASKER GUIDE] Auto Hide Tablet bar in The Hybrid

This is a short guide that I have come up with for all those running DAGr8's The Hybrid RC6.2 ROM that wish to auto hide their tablet toggle bar when launching full screen applications.
What you will need:
1. Tasker
2. The Hybrid Rom with latest update
Getting Started:
Lets start by launching Tasker, and head to the Tasks tab at the top.
1. click the + symbol at the bottom to create a new Task.
2. I called this task TabletToggle, and then hit the green Check mark
3. Now click the + symbol again to add an action.
4. click on App and then Load App
5. Choose the ToggleBar application.
6. now click the Green Check mark to finish the task.
Now to create our FullScreen Profile.
1. head to the Profiles Tab at the top and hit the + symbol again to create a new Profile.
2. lets call this one FullScreen and hit the green check mark.
3. Next choose Application from the list that comes up
4. here you can select all the applications that you want to use in full screen, and hit the green check mark when you are finished.
5. A window of tasks will now appear; choose the TabletToggle task that we created earlier.
you will now see the following profile
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
6. Long click on the TabletToggle and choose Add Exit Task from the list.
7. now choose our TabletToggle again as the exit task.
Now your Full Screen Profile is all setup, and you can click the green check mark again the leave Tasker.
and here is a short video of how this will behave.
Are you using the Tasked app that is $6.49 on the market?
Yep, that's correct. It's such a powerful tool, its worry every penny; especially if you plan on doing anything with NFC as well.

XBMC for Android App

I found this XDA link today messing around online - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772433</p><p>.
I installed the app from the link above, installed my favorite repository in XMBC and tested a movie. It streamed cleared and without lagging. Hope you guys enjoy!
To set up a repository:
First find and download a [repository].zip (Google search finds them easily)
Open XBMC app and scroll to the right.
Click system > settings > add-ons > install from zip > external storage.
Scroll down to the "Downloads" folder and find [Your repository].zip. Let that file install.
Now from the "add-ons" screen click "get add-ons"
Choose the repository you just installed > video add-ons > [one or more add ons from the repository you installed].
Let that install and now it's ready to watch movies. Press back until you get to the main menu. From the "Videos" tab choose add-ons, select an add on. Find a movie/show/video clip and enjoy!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I'm surprised no one has commented on this. Maybe because I didn't provide a thorough explanation of XBMC:
XBMC is a powerful media player capable of streaming movies, tv shows, internet video, you name it. Much like Cydia is for Apple devices, it's more or less just a media player. Unless you install repositories (apps that tell the player where online to look for videos) it doesn't do much. A quick online search for "XBMC add ons" or "XBMC repositories" will find a bunch of great download links for add ons. I will not link to any because of XDA's policies but you shouldn't have much problems finding them. Screen shot of my favorite:

Any Apple TV or Ipad repository set up tutorials will work for our phones but if anyone is having problems setting up the repositories and add ons up, I will help them with that.

I've had it do that a time or two. The app is a memory hog when it's running. Try killing it and other running apps (just swipe away if on ICS). It should open fine after that.

I've tried this on several devices now and finding a common result. It doesn't seem to work on Gingerbread (tested on Bionic and D3) but it does work on ICS (multiple Razr's, Bionic, and HP Touchpad). If it doesn't open initially just swipe away recent items and try again. It always works for me.

Note 2 Multi Window Tool

One of the best features that separates the Galaxy Note 2 apart from the rest of the high end smartphones is the Multi-Window feature, where users can run two applications simultaneously, side by side. However, it is severely limited out of the box. Instead of allowing users to open any application in this Multi-Window there are only 13 applications that natively work with Multi-Window. For example you can't have your web browser and your favorite Twitter client side by side since Twitter is not one of the 13 apps available with Multi-Window. Well according to an article from phonedog.com, one can now root their Note 2 and use Paul O'Brien's automated Note 2 Multi Window Tool. This tool takes a list of apps and creates you an update zip (for flashing via clockworkmod) with a modified framework APK that enables your chosen apps for multi window support.

I think we're on our own. Going to have to wait for root and perform the mod that allows us to add any app to multi-view. I actually would not mine having a custom ROM that strips all the bloat and adds these features.

Im in the same boat. Verizonvtexhbsupport was unable to help. Samsung tier 1 said
U.S versions wont work till update. I explained it works just fine but I cant add any apps tobthe list. After 35 min with samsung advanced support, I was told I would have to wait for an update.
Sadly, proper multi-window function is not all we VZW customers are missing. Guess rooting will be the only way to go, unless their update actually fixes it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2.
The VZW rep at the store that I know pretty good said there is a update coming in January to expand the userbility of multi window. Dont know how true that is.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the info, I spent some time on YouTube watching videos of the multi-window feature and everyone else had lots of apps, including facebook, twitter, YouTube, etc. I really hope the update comes soon!
While the Verizon version may need an update to add things like YouTube, chrome, twitter, etc, some apps just need to add the support more the multiview bar.
I installed super video and it was automatically placed in the multiview bar.

Not to discredit your friend, more to discredit the idiots telling him even vague timelines, I'd say it's very untrue
The built in multi-window apps make this thing nearly useless for the time being.

I think its an update behind the other Note 2s alt there is the possibility that Verizon also watered it down a bit but I think its the first.
