[Q] Using ATT Note ICS with a different operator - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I am using my ATT Note in Turkey with a different GSM operator. I want to upgrade my phone from GB to ICS UCLD3.
Will I face any problem with getting reception if I upgrade my rom to leaked ICS UDLD3?

You shouldn't have any issues at all if your phone works fine there on GB. But make a backup of your current setup anyway, that way if there is an issue you can just restore your backup.

I have just stock GB. It is not rooted nor CWM installed.
Would it solve the problem to install back existing GB version if I have a problem with ICS?
I hope i will not face any problem as you said

I'm on Tmobile and using UCLE3 with the modded Modems. You shouldn't have any issues, but you will need to be rooted and have CWM to flash the ROMs. You can always flash back to GB if you don't like ICS. IMO ICS is the way to go. More features, faster browsing and slightly better battery life.

[q] (question) can i downgrade form ics in sgs2 safetly?

Hi every to every one i recently upgrade my SGS2 to ICS 4.0.3 but i found it full of bugs, i mean a lot, (by the way wait until the official release from samsung, thas my opinion) like the non data network miss
My question is, is it safe to downgrade the Phone to GINGERBREAD?
Gosh i love this page
Yes its safe, just make sure to properly install a Gingerbread rom. Next time, just make a backup before installing a new rom so thats its easier to revert back to old rom.
By properly you mean official? Also any gingerbread like 2.3.6? And not the phone stock firmware.

You can check if you have made a back up by going into Rom Manager, manage and restore backups, have a check in their. If you have made a back up the just restore using that back up.
The CWM just gave me the finger XD i do a clean install of the ICS just in case but dont occurred to me to do a backup

Which Modem Version for GB AT&T?

Which modem version is for the gingerbread for att? I noticed Im still running on UCLC or whatever 5. which is the same as ICS. Could this be causing me any service issues that ive been having? what version comes stock? cause I odin flashed back to stock att and its still stuck on version 5

1717UCLA1 is what you want. Should be available in the Modems thread in Development. Flash that in CWM and you're good to go.
Here it is: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/modems/ATTNOTEUCLARADIO.zip
Yea I got it flashed Thanks!
Would running UCLA5 on GB cause any issues?

[Q] Will old tmobile ICS Modems work with new UCLE2 roms?

Im currently running stock rooted gb, and i want to make the switch to ics. I have gone to ics before but went back to gb for stability. Now it seems a lot of the bugs have been fixed, and I want to try the new Only One Rom. However I am on tmobile and want to make sure the modems work. I know the gb modems wont work, but I have some ics modems such as blaze ics modem from the first ics releases. Will those work on these new leaks and roms?
Also once i make a nandroid backup and flash only one ics rom. Will i be able to revert back to gb if needed through my nandroid backup (like you could do with alpha 2 ics rom)?
i switch back and forth all the time, just need to flash the appropriate radio as well each time.
EG: you are on ICS with an ics radio, restore/flash back to GB and flash a GB based radio like Blaze.
I havent been able to get an ICS ROM to work with an ICS Radio. I get a big circle with a strike in it like a not allowed sign. As soon as i go back to GB and flash a GB Radio it picks up 4G any help?

On ics i am using the leet ics gs2 modem. and I get 4g signal but then after a while ill get a notification in the bar saying i lost data because i left my house and it wants me to turn on roaming?! and when i did just to try it i got signal again, but i wasnt sure if i would get charged so i turned it off. Didnt have any of this in gb
At least you get signal i have yet to get that far. Whats the link for the ICS ROM your currently on? Ive tried only one ROM and a no go for me. You should check if it works if it doesnt just restore and flash the radio again because when u flash the new ROM it will flash the UCLE2 radio and you will only get EDGE.

Maybe someone could explain this to me: What exactly is a Radio? I'm assuming a modem is what lets you make phone calls and receive data, but the radio is the GPS/Wifi drivers/firmware?
I had installed Blaze Modem and others trying to fix both a issue with S Voice and GPS. My data got better, and I got more bars but no solution for S Voice or GPS.
(S Voice only works over WiFi, won't work on 4G)
If I understand correctly, maybe I should be looking for compatible radios to flash as well? Any recommendations?
Theyre the same thing try a different radio/modem. Aee if that fixes the gps.
Im on the sgsII leaked one and works fine for.gps..

UVLC8 Baseband is always the go-to radio.

[Q] SGSII heating a lot while doing regular tasks

Hallo everyone!
So since a week ago i'm a proud owner of Samsung Galaxy S2 (yay!).
It had Android 2.3.5 at the beginning so 2 days ago i've updated it to ICS (4.0.3). I've updated it via ODIN (since it couldn't find updates via KIES or by air) with a official ROM (if that's what it's called) from samfirmware.
Since then my phone heats up a lot more compared to 2.3.5 , i don't know how's that possible but i haven't installed any new apps or used the phone differently since the update. I know it's normal to heat up when playing games but even if i'm browsing the web it heats up a lot. I haven't this problem with 2.3.5
Any suggestions?
Go back to 2.3.5 and wait for JB.Or try custom rom.

So it's a common issue?
Hmm.. This is weird.. I'm having the same issue, but I'm having it with JellyBean ROMs.
For ICS the combination that works for me best is Cyanogenmod 9.1 and Siyah Kernel. If that still heats up, you might want to try some different modem and check out if any of them works for you. I think the stock XXKH3 modem helps.

As you might red above i'm a total newb to Android world atm , i just learned how to flash few days ago, i'm not going to mess with new modems etc. (for now). Do you guys think that if i upgrade to that leaked 4.1.2 , that might fix the problem? Also i didn't do factory reset after the upgrade to 4.0.3 because some other user from other forum told me that if i install the official 4.0.3 rom from Samsung - there's no need to do factory reset.
I would have done a factory reset, but thats just me.ICS was overheating my wifes phone, but it was the 4.0.4 thats worst.
If you are flashing modems, you should root first and backup your efs folder......and make a nand backup.

As i mentioned i won't be flashing modems and such. What would you suggest me to do from that point (aside from downgrading)?
You can only downgrade to GB.I detest ICS(rootbox was ok),so I went back to GB.
But now I use vanilla rootbox(JB) with dorimanx kernel.
Only problem Ive seen with this so far is the bloody volumes far too loud when I press keys(had to switch it off).
Anyway, whatever you do make sure you get rooted and backup your efs folder.
So i just upgraded to JB and we'll see how's it going.

Why? I don't want to...
UPDATE: So i've upgraded to 4.1.2 (JellyBean) , haven't installed any apps and for about 10 min. of browsing the web it jumped from 31°C to 37°C. What should be the average temperature of SGSII while using it (not playing games)?

[Q] Global Firmware and old Rom

I have been running the Global firmware since it's release with several Roms built for it with no issues. I was wondering if there would be any issues in running older Roms on the Global firmware ie.. Cleanrom?
I wouldn't imagine there would be an issue as long as it's an ICS ROM. GB ROMs would likely give you issues.
Thanks, just wanted to double check there would not be an issue jumping back to play with an old Rom.

Ive always wondered what would happen if i were to flash a GB rom on Global firmware.

There are some differences in mount points between GB and ICS, so you'd likely have issues with your SD card and internal memory if nothing else.
