There is absolutely no way? It's keep magic all of a sudden after my phone rebooted I can't even get good signal, I was on hspda+

Root has nothing to do with signal.
Root is some binaries pushed into system/bin and an apk put in system/app.
Try flashing a new modem and see how that works out.

thanks, or can you point me to how to reflash the original modem again?
The original modem??
Rooting doesn't change the modem so it should still be the same one.
There are a few different ones to try so see which works best for you.
I'm in Ireland on 3 and the LF5 radio is great for me since I flashed it.

Sorry still getting used to the lingo. I picked up the zip flash able for the modem you are referring to. So I can just flash in recovery? No wipe anything? How do it revert back is there is a problem. I'm on XXALF2

Did you download the .zip or the .tar?
Flash the .zip in cwm or if its the .tar one you got then flash it in Odin/mobile Odin.
You can always go back by flashing the original one back again.
I'll post a link for it in a sec once I upload it to drop box.

My current baseband is XXLF2, it's not listed with your links. How can I revert if something happens? Also are they listed in order of release, I'm in the USA if you can recommend one.
Thanks for everything

Its the XXALF2 link.
You can try all 3 and see which is best.
XXLF2 was pretty good for me, DXLEA was only OK and XXLF5 works best for ME! YMMV.
try them out, it won't do any harm.
Search for mobile Odin on xda and download it and it makes everything extremely simple.
Just pick the file and mobile Odin does the rest.

Cant see anything relevant from the attached screenshots, so I can't just flash these in recovery one by one?
You can't flash .tar files I'm recovery, they are for Odin only.
Download mobile Odin lite from that page you posted and the flash kernel for I9300 in the 3rd or 4th post.
Otherwise just use Odin on your PC.
You may be able to find .zips to flash in recovery if you search.
Also you could buy Odin pro from play store and it will download flash kernel automatically so all you need to do is open it, select the modem file and hit flash.
Just to be 100% certain, you have the international version right?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Thanks. So all I have to do is browse to the tar file and hit flash. I'm still on the free version.
And this won't affect my phones performance just the radio?
Finally I can revert to everything back by flashing the first link? Thanks

Yes. The file is tar.md5 and is odin flashable as is. The md5 extension means Odin will verify file integrity before flashing. Use any version of Odin as far as I know, but I think version 1.85 was the most common one when our phone came out. Put the file in the pda slot. Have you ever used stand alone Odin?

If the replacement phone has ICS 4.0.4, that's not gonna do you any good. You need 4.0.3, and you need to be able to make sure it doesn't auto-update to 4.0.4. 4.0.4 is DEFINITELY what causes the SOD.

Hi,
Yes, you can flash the AT&T firmware to the Rogers Note. I have flashed many firmwares onto my Rogers Note with no issues so far. Just make sure that you follow the steps completely or else you risk having a bricked device.

Do you have something to flash roms with? Like TWRP2 or CWM?
If so, the steps are pretty straight forward for most roms:
1) Wipe Cache / Factory Reset
2) Install ROM
3) Wipe Cache/Dalvik
Sometimes there can be a Step 2b where you need to flash GAPPS.
If you don't have TWRP2 or CWM (I prefer TWRP2) you can find it here for the Note:
TWRP2
EDIT: These are the steps are what I've seen for ATT roms on Rogers. I have an ATT Note and cannot confirm this for you, but I've seen others have success.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yes. You will have to root the phone first to put another carrier's firmware on the phone. And then you will have to find the ROM of your choice. Most unrooted stock ROMs are going to be odin flashable *.tar files. And I don't believe they can be flashed to a different phone. Your best choice in my opinion would be to look for a stock rooted version that can be flashed by a custom recovery.
Is there a way to change the baseband its still showin rogers baseband version but everything is working except software upgrade

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Well you didnt want that modem anyway. You want UCLF6. If you flashed using odin there should have been a new modem installed too. Will have to look for the radio to be flashed by odin. Searching now.
Here is a link for the entire UCLF6 ROM with the modem(baseband) included: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/162779447/3bb6230/I717UCLF6_I717ATTLF6_ATT.zip.html

Sorry I really can't help you anymore than that. I originally thought you couldn't even flash a stock ROM through odin on a different carrier's phone but I now believe you can. And if you can then that ROM I directed you to would have wiped and made your phone to look exactly like the ATT version including the baseband. You followed that tutorial to a tee? Did you use odin to install the ATT ROM originally? Must be something we are missing here. Hope one of the pros chime in.

This is the Latest update for the above. works with our at&t Note.
I flashed it using http://samsung-updates.com/Odin307.zip
1. put your phone in Download Mode. Plug your device to your computer, open Odin 3.0.7 click on PDA and find the tar file.
Make sure you let Odin finish flashing. Only unplug your device when Odin gives you a message saying, PASS.
Now reboot your phone to recovery and wipe data and reboot.
Good luck

Since your on MDK have you tried flashing the MDK non-hlos modem? Not just the " modem only " one.
Usually flashing a new ROM doesn't effect your modem at all so I'd usually say that it's the ROM that's the problem. But since you've been trying different modems to try and fix the problem it may good to try the non-hlos one. Also make sure whatever recovery your using is up to date.
I've had to flash the MDK non-hlos then I used the phone for a few days and ended up flashing the NC5 one without issue.
