Why Kernel has nothing to do with baseband/modem .
You have a Villain rom and your dog lives in Ninphet2.2.1 .
Your modem is KG6 .
Unless you are having reception problems leave it alone .
Or if you need go to dev forum modems posts and flash whatever modem you want .

Ill say leave it, in case it does cause incompatibility issues with the ROM. Generally speaking regardless of the baseband, since do keep in mind, these phones are supposedly globally GSM compatible (except for select few CDMAers). I am using different baseband to Vodafone NZ but no reception issues. I am not 100% if VillianROM still use CSC codes, but essentially on the stock ROMs, CSC provides carrier specific settings. Check your CSC with *#12580*369#.
Mine shows up as
PDA: I9100XXKH3
Phone: I9100XXKH3
CSC: I9100VNZKG1 (the latest from Vodafone NZ) although its not KH3 but KG1.
Hi guys i am knew at this,

I am so lost ... I tried to read all posts to find answer but I got dizzy !!
plz experts tell me what is best for me to do and I will pray for you
I got Virgin/bell SGS2 and I rooted the phone to unlock so I can use it with FIDO.
I didn't backup stuff.. or I might did but not sure...
the only info I copied about my initial setup is this:
[email protected]#2
and after rooting, my current info is :
2.3.3
model number GT-I9100M
BASEBAND VERSION I9100MUGKG2
KERNEL VERSION: [email protected]#2
BUILD NUMBER: GINGERBREAT.UGKG2
I noticed that I can't use Kies anymore !!
and I want to upgrade to rom that support arabic and I don't want to lose access to market or get any failure !! (( remember it is canadian galaxy s2 ))
any suggestions ??
Many rom support new baseband only.
But I only can use old baseband.
In using new baseband, I cannot search network, no signal.
What can I do?
How about we actually try to search for a solution before making a thread?

I am having issues updating my handset, one of my friend messed up my handset when upgrading.
Current version:- 4.0.3
Baseband version:- I9100XXLP1
Kernel version:- 3.0.15-i9100xxlp2-cl57619 [email protected] #3
Build number:- ICS.XXLP2
I could not determine which software I should upgrade to/how to root.
my friend when he updated the version he didn't even root the phone.
I am having trouble getting 3G network, signal drop outs, I have done all the troubleshooting, looked on google but the information given was too confusing...
can someone help me in rooting the phone with the version I have installed OR choosing the applicable newest version on my phone.

This is the Galaxy S i9000 area.. not the SII.... pay attention and post your messages correctly ...
If the phone is untouched and he wants to let it this way, only use Kies to update it.... if your facing any sort of problems, try a reset (WIPE)
Regards

this is the GALAXY S2 area.. also, don't forget to pay attention before you "scold" someone
your phone seems fine.. it's on ICS, maybe you just need a better modem for your carrier/region.
cheers

It's very common for mods to move threads to the forum they SHOULD be in. This thread may very well have started out in the I9000 forum.

Just to help which country are you in, UK, Ireland or somewhere else, there are a lot of versions but they are sometime country specific so wont work properly if you install the wrong one.

You can use Odin software to manually upgrade your phone's firmware. Then you can root it using CF root kernel.
You need to use a modem designed in your location like XXKL1 etc.
HIT THANKS IF IT HELPS YOU IN ANYWAY!!!
