How to extract the ICS update file? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Here

It'll download to the root of your SD card most probably. So just let the update download but don't install it, connect your phone to the computer and copy it from SD root.

Yea i know i downloaded it already but i dunno how to install it.. do i have to go to recovery mode and do something? They haven't posted instructions yet.
Im checking it out right now..the way it has worked on other phones i have had is that you rename it to update.zip and load it in stock recovery
I think you would just flash it like an ordinary rom using the recovery but not sure
Edit: apparently you need to rename it update.zip and flash it in stock recovery
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
yep that didnt work..im guessing you have to be rooted and do it through the custom recovery. either that or i missed something
edit: ooops guess you shouldnt name it update.zip.zip lol guess i should have gotten some sleep before attempting this
Put it in ext- sd in the root folder

**In case somebody doesn't understand what this tool does I will explain briefly.
You select a folder with apk files in it and then convert them. To zip files and then you can extract the zips and edit the apk files.
Been looking for something just like this thanks!

No, I think to decompil only into a zip or into a folder only...
Just a question, I've been using 7zip to open the apk files and haven't had a problem with it from the beginning. How is this different?

It really isn't but it makes it easier then having to install 7zip because this doesn't install so it is easy to remove if needed. And it converts to zip which windows natively supports. So it really is not that different.

Have you tried looking it up on Google? If you have then I'll see if I can find something for you. If I can't then I will write you a small tutorial when I have spare time.

Request for keyboard apk

I'm wanting to try the new jellybean keyboard from the Note 2 on my S3 and would appreciate if someone would upload the apk for me. After trying the demo out and seeing the number keys locked @ the top, I wanted to try it on my phone but didn't want to download the entire ROM, just to try it. If someone would upload it, I would appreciate it.

Thanks, I have the tar downloaded but don't know how to extract it either. Root explorer wont do it. I believe its just the samsungIME.apk, but I'm unsure if there's another that goes with it or not. If you can pull that from your phone, I would appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

I figured that out, after opening the apk. I did download the deodexed version from one of the ROM developers and it installs, but force closes instantly. The files are different, in a few aspects but I'm working on some lib files now. Hopefully that will work...........

Make sure you have the exact same ICS version as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192532 .
Better yet, use that tutorial as a whole.
Im on the same ics version
EDIT: i factory reset my razr,,flash the 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU fastboot,,root and then backup root and unroot,,boot to recovery,,wipe cache,,flash the ota,, still doesnt work
EDIT 2: i think the file uploaded is corrupted, because when i try to open using winrar, it says "unexpected end of archive" ,but i unable to download the file at this link:

Looks like it's internal piracy security. Try an application as suggested, see if it cures the problem. Good luck and let us know!

Just have the person who's sending you the apk file rename to a different extension let's say .jpg .png .mp3 and rename it to .apk after you receive it.

Yeah, this is the easiest method. Rename the extension or Zip the file and transfer it.
Or use BlueTooth File Transfer App from PlayStore.
