I'm not asking how to unlock the bootloader or anything but how to tell if it's locked, because I'm wondering if my bootloader just unlocked with the fastboot tool or if it's just there to tease me. The bootloader when I set it to fastboot and did fastboot OEM unlock, I got red text saying "Unlocking your device may VOID your warranty."
Bootloader Image
This is what the fastboot responded on the computer side.
Code:
C:\Users\Admin\Desktop>fastboot oem unlock
...
(bootloader) Unlocking your device can permanently VOID your warranty.
(bootloader) This process cannot be reversed. If you wish to proceed,
(bootloader) reissue the unlock OEM command containing the unique ID
(bootloader) of your device: 04507244410053D7
OKAY [ 0.003s]
finished. total time: 0.004s
C:\Users\Admin\Desktop>fastboot oem unlock
...
(bootloader) Unique ID is not valid; aborting.
OKAY [ 0.002s]
finished. total time: 0.002s
Can someone tell me if I stumbled upon something big or is it just a fluke?
Thanks.
I want to say the "unique ID" is the encrypted password the pricks over at Motorola have used to keep us from unlocking it, and that's just a guess from my end, someone with more experience needs to take a gander at this.

Ahh. It's late here, and just got the DX2 to play with and was kind of like is this for real. I guess 1 can hope. LoL
The unique ID is the number it just gave you, 04507244410053D7.
So what you'd do is type "C:\Users\Admin\Desktop>fastboot oem unlock 04507244410053D7" and it would unlock the bootloader...
...if our phone had an unlockable bootloader, but unfortunately it would just give you a message saying it's not implemented.

I tried to see what you were talking about...I just hang on "Starting Fastboot Protocol Support"
But I am not a dev and idk how to make that work. However when I rebooted, and key down past fastboot, past android recovery, I saw "UID Number" or something to that effect. Going to that option gave me a different ID #.... ill go back and get it & post for you.....
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Edit:
It's not UID number, it's "Device UID" # reads;
038061c940c044d7
Maybe replace the UID it gave you with that one? Or one it gives you from your phone.
What program are you using on the computer to get there, also what OS?
Edit2: Nvm, did a little googling and found what i needed Looking into this now....
Edit: got fastboot commands working....
Failed as well we need those keys....
It was late, and re-read and tried again today and failed. I know when I tried on my Droid 4 it said Not Implemented immediately, so I thought maybe moto was finally playing nice. Guess not. Sorry to tease. Now since then, my screen has decided to freak out as if I'm holding down sections of the screen and what not and I'm not so SBF to factory and call VZW to get a new one sent asap as this will be replacement number 3 for multiple issues, and sad that it's with in the last 2 months(got a rep. dx and port broke on that, and then they got me a dx2).

Sounds odd, but try giving your screen a nice cleaning, I've found the oils from our skin can make the screen tweak out now and again

I redone the phone, and seems to have helped. I had been playing with a couple roms and probably overlooked/forgot to "Factory Wipe" it. It's odd though, looking at bootloaders, and noticing that essentially that the Xoom has the same processor, and is un-lockable, but yet, we can't get a bootloader like from the Xoom to make it unlockable.

The problem is not getting an unlockable bootloader, it's that the section of the phone's memory that stores information about the bootloader can only be overwritten with a file that's been digitally signed by Motorola. That's where the encryption comes in.
True, it'd be nice though if we could get a bootloader that would be able to work, or even get the atrix bootloader to load on it and work. My main thing is, seeing this was my wife's old phone, to try to use it as a mini tablet. I've got my full size but it'd be nice to have a smaller one as well to play with.

I bought a Motorola Photon and unlocked the boot loader, rooted, Clockwork Mod Recovery'd, tried the whole Sprint phone unlocked for all carriers, then flashed CM9.
I tried to sbf back to stock and somehow (assuming I downloaded the wrong file along the way) I now have a Motorola Electrify that tries to run on U.S.Cellular.
I have subsequently downloaded all three stock sbf files on ShabbyPenguin's website and none of them will flash. (Super mega thanks to Shabby!)
I apologize if this is a duplicate thread. I've been searching all over this forum and the general interweb since roughly 9:00pm last night. Does anyone know a way I can force my phone to allow the flash that keeps failing on "re-enumeration"?
I come from mostly Samsung devices and RSD seems to be the closest thing to "download mode" but in download mode you can pretty much flash anything. Sorry this is long and rambling.

Yikes... I think once people flash that Electrify SBF by mistake, they are screwed.
Well, crap.
Take it to nearest Sprint store ask someone there to reprogram it you tried to do a system update and the battery died in the middle of it and how your phone is now is the end result if you have insurance it will be free to program it and if it fails to program should get new/ refurbished one for free or at the worst what ever the replacement fee is worth a shot worked for me once I tried to flash an sbf and my damn battery drained completely. Took it to Sprint store said the above and received the above. Gl

I don't have insurance.
If you dont have the insurance it will cost you $35 for a replacement phone. I bricked mine without insurance and had to cough up the $35 for a new one. They tried reflashing my phone for free though but it didnt fix issue, so they should reflash it for you no problem without charging
Do you think they'll do it even though its booting up as an electrify on U.S.Cellular?

Honestly, it depends on who you see. As a Sprint employee who works at a S&R store, and into rooting myself, I'd have no problem with it (Upstate NY btw). But technically, since it's unlocked, its broken the warantee, and if you go to a store thats very by the books, it's gonna be iffy. If you can, go to a serice and repair store that IS NOT corporate, and likely they'll do it for you. If they ask if you rooted it, just say yes, and one of two things will happen. Either they'll say "sorry, we can't help you" and then you go to a different store, because trust me, that **** doesn't get noted or anything, or since the guy knows what rooting is, he's probably into it himself and will sympathise and get you a new one.
Sprint service and repair store turned me down. Looks like I'm just gonna keep at it. I figure I'll get it at some point. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'll give it a try.

Does you phone say unlocked ?
Currently, it does not say unlocked. It also gives me an error message if I try to execute any fastboot commands aside from:
moto-fastboot -w
&
moto-fastboot reboot
Motorola is saying all I can do is send it in to them. I can get into RSD mode but nothing will successfully flash. I'm starting to think they might be right. I'm just so used to having Samsung phones. They're relatively easy in comparison. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.
Try # moto-fastboot -w and then rds unlock then #moto-fastboot erase recovery #moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-cyan-photon3.img (cwm) and you should be good! *cross fingers*

Yeah, that is not going to work either.
That electrify ROM is a PITA when placed on the Photon.
I was able to exchange mine at the local store, but I luck out in the fact that they LOVE me there.
My exchange didn't cost me a dime either. However by that time the phone wouldn't charge either, so it wasn't booting, so they couldn't see the unlocked or the US Cellular boot animation.
Plus the fact the the owner and one of the techs were running Photons really helped.
Good luck.
I have the same problem I think the only way to solve this is to actually unlock it and use a custom rom. OR wait for Sprint to release a 2.3.5 rom to flash since you have a 2.3.5 bootloader I basically have a useless phone now

Ok, I've tried that. Basically what I've found is that the 2.3.4 sbf for both the Photon 4G and the Electrify are unlockable, but the 2.3.5 which is available for the Electrify comes with a non unlockable bootloader. Somewhere along the line I must have accidentally flashed that and now I'm screwed. There is no way to downgrade without unlocking and no way to unlock that bootloader at this time. Sorry for the bad news to anyone else in this predicament. If anyone comes across a solution, please let me know.

try "frying" the phone phone/cpu so u can get it replaced without them seeing it unlocked ?
More or less that is what I did. By the time I brought my phone into the local store, it wouldn't even turn on.
Now when the tech put his charged battery into the phone, it showed whatever it did, but I was taken care of.
I just bought this device a few days ago not a big fan of the locked bootloader. Anyways i was just messing around and opened a fastboot window and sent the command. It just gave me results saying it would void my warranty and enter my device specific code. So bear with me as i havent done too much reading through the threads for this device. Im sure i havent been the first person to try this command. Im just curious if the users that have done this have gained any further access. Like say trying to boot a recovery image via fastboot and maybe getting past motorolas digital signatures? I have no problem unlocking mine since im using it on metro anyways so no warranty. And trying out some things to try to get past it. Just posting this for some feedback i guess.
Unfortunately people have tried it. I've tried it, but nothing comes of it. So nothing to report :/

Requested moved to general thread. Doesnt really belong here
I was fiddling with adb after work and out of curiosity I tried following the unlock procedure that I used on a Xoom before. This has probably been tried so thats why Im asking. When I issue reboot bootloader and then fasboot oem unlock through adb, it says "If you wish to proceed please re-enter the command containing the unique ID of your device: "Then it lists an ID." Its 16 characters long. Is this echo normal? I did get my fastboot.exe from the internet somewhere because the SDK I got didnt have it.
I looked online and the way you unlock the bootloader on an Atrix is by doing the same steps so that leads me to my question: What happens if I re-enter the command with the unique ID? Im just afraid to screw something up. That is according to this link: http://mobilegeeky.com/hack-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader/
I find it hard to believe that unlocking the bootloader is that easy but I just dont want to end up in a "curiosity killed the cat" kind of scenario and brick my phone.
Thanks guys!
I tried it for you . It just returns a message that says "OEM unlock is not implemented".

Well, I figure I don't have much to lose. I can upgrade at a discounted price if I want so I figured what the heck. Worst case, if for some reason I couldn't sbf my way out of a jam I'd have to use the upgrade. That wouldn't be all bad though.

Get the galaxy nexus. Its completely stock android. It gets tons of updates because it runs pure android.

Well, I've done a limited amount of reading on the nexus. If I was looking to upgrade, I'd be tempted to get one except for one thing. No sd card. Don't think I want a phone without support for a sd card. I also did some reading in the nexus forum here. The phone isn't without it's faults. For one thing, it looks like there's a fair amount of people who aren't happy with the glass on it. The say it scratches easy. That can be remedied with a screen protector of course, but, if you happen to be one (like me) who doesn't care for screen protectors, well, it's a negative too.
Anyway, I haven't done enough reading to come to a final conclusion on what phone I'd get. I'm not really looking to upgrade at the moment. Things are just getting interesting with this one.
Ok i hate being "that guy" who has to ask this(especially since i'm an rc), but i have been sifting through threads for the last few hours trying to determine can my p769 still be unlocked? The tutorials i read didn't specify that it was meant for jellybean as far as i saw. It came with ics, and as soon as i hooked it up to my wifi it decided to download the ota and install jellybean. So now i'm stuck trying to figure if the previous process still works because it seems to me like it just flashes and older version of the os, and i thought at the same time it was flashing a older bootloader from a p760 from the kdz file, but at this point i'm lost. Kinda sad since i'm from a community in xda with weird setups as it is. I read the bootloader is being worked on for 2nd init on this phone, i'm assuming thats basically what my kindle fire hd has that we call second bootloader. Anyways is my device's bootloader still unlockable?

You only need mobile data for 30-40 minutes so maybe you can borrow a friends metro or t-mo sim for that time period.
I recently purchased a T-Mobile LG G5. I am not too tech savvy, and since I'm a novice when it comes to rooting, I have a question I need help with.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone. Shortly after doing so, I noticed a blister in the paint of the phone's battery/charging port tray. This is the part I'm referring to. http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OEM-LG-G5-Accessory-Module-Loud-Speaker-Gold-p/lgg5hsg4gld.htm
I contacted T-Mobile, and they offered me a warranty replacement. That sounds great, but I'm bummed out. I have my phone customized exactly how I want it, screen protector and all. I can't figure out if I want to go through the hassle of unrooting my phone, relocking the bootloader, then doing the reverse to the new phone.
Anyhow, the answer to this one question will help me decide. There's always the possibility that the T-Mobile store rep will be unconvinced the blister, which has since then burst, was a manufacturer defect. It actually now looks more like a scratch. If I go ahead and relock the bootloader, but am denied the warranty replacement and have to keep my current phone, will I be able to unlock it again? Or should I save myself the hassle and shell out $70 to buy a new battery/charging port tray?
The common sense answer is to ignore the blemish and keep using my current phone. But I'm a perfectionist when it comes to these things and can't bring myself to do it.
EDIT: I'm going to leave this up rather then delete because the answer below may have valuable information for somebody else. But there was never a blister in the paint. I feel like such an idiot. The phone came with a plastic protective adhesive that was applied so well, I never realized it was on. That's what blistered.
You could relock the bootloader, and send it back. The question is rather whether they would find out, since i am not quite sure if they can see that the phone was ever rooted. If you decide to lock the bootloader again though, you can unlock it later on again, that is no problem. I would suggest unrooting it, and relocking the bootloade, if you can not ignore that blemish. I just got mine yesterday, and im debating whether i should root it again, because i am not certain that i could re lock it and recover the warranty. I only need to root it because of adaway, since there is no custom rom support yet.
..

I bought a used G5 H850. When I try to unlock BL on LG site, I get the following message "Device ID is unmatched. Please check your Device ID. Your account will be locked if you enter the wrong Device ID more than 4 times.".
Searching in the internet, it seems that I get this message because my phone had been unlocked once.

as I know:
that’s right! At the first time the phone was unlocked; the id was registered as "unlocked" in the LG data pool! AND unfortunately the ID was related to the user account of first registration.
Best way will be to contact the first owner if you can.

Im curius because, even if the bootloader is locked again, cant LG search among the IMEI's and find out that previously the device was tweaked?

While LG will know that the Unlock.img file was requested they wont know if you have used it or not. So they will need evidence that you used the file in order to warrenty void.
