Better scrolling performance with xperia s ics home - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I install xperia s app package last night and i notice much better scrolling performance with cosmic flow as background, and with standard wallpaper scrolling is like on gb, i am on 4.0.3 so i thin on 4.0.4 is even better. it seems that xperia s home app is much more optimized for ics than ray stock home

Because Sony turned off the gpu acceleration in 4.0.4, regardless of the device in use. In Xperia s there won't be any slowdown with disabled acceleration since they use dual core for starters, unlike our phone.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1240 This is the general section of this...section. Applies to all phones, including Ray, but for some reasons it is not written there.
Development section is for developing custom ROMs, kernels, tweaks, tools and other stuff.

Well that makes it a bit pointless to put this thread imo, because the one on 4.0.4 official is already as fast as gb one. Why don't you update first to 4.0.4?

Smooth SE home

Hy all..i would like to open a new project regarding sony ericsson arc launcher..The target is try to modify the apk in order to have a smoother and fast scroll like other 3rd part app..like lp,adw,go launcher ecc..so,is there someone that want and can take part at this project?maybe also some roms cookers can help us..
Powered by Xperia ™
You can also pm dev's and kindly ask them which would be easier for you to contact them ? ;p
Sent From My X10!
Yes i can..maybe some rom maker cause dev are too much busy with kernel, roms, bootloader ecc..i will pm wolf and achotjan but in mean time i will take a look at the app and i will analize the sources to find out some idea! If i will have something to manipolate i will open a new thread!

The retail Launcher is smooth for me. But it only works on 2.2+, there is a ARC Launcher that works on all ROMs but its the one from first dump and its a little bit laggy, so do you mean the first one or the latest ARC Launcher like the one that is included in my ROM?`
I downloaded wb rom, rebuilded it and make in my own tuning, launcher is great working if you only want i give you my arc launcher.

Yes i'm talking about last retail launcher..it is quite smooth but if you compare homescreens scroll with other launcher you can see that our phone can do it better..so guys,do you think that if we open the apk and try to optimized the sources could we have a better launcher?or is this a stupid idea?

If this idea will be considered, a new thread will be perfect! I think that this can also be usefull for 2.3 SE update..cause watching the official se preview of the new firmware seems that the home is not so fast and with quality scroll! In conclusion,if someone have time and want to take part at this operation will be good..so we can share files ect..let me know..

ICS running out of memory

I have a problem when I watch flash videos and surf many websites, ics kills the browser and the launcher. Is there a way to fix that issue.
Using JJs hybrid from v2.2 but had that issue with Ka and I-Scream rooms. I didn't have that problem with stock GB rom.

Maybe you don't use it as much as he.
Try opening few tabs in browser, then minimize it and open chat program, or some other program, root explorer or something simple as that. Then go back to browser, you will be lucky if all your tabs are still there
As sdk16420 said, ICS is more hungry than GB, and that is a fact. If someone use phone his phone lite, chances that he will notice that are smaller.

yeah there is a point, i use my phone only for daily use, fb, twitter, whatsapp, play some games watch on XDA through my phone, make some pic, nothing else, and clean always the cache after that, i have tons of games but no losing memory to nothing, so the problems is indeed by that guy itself, no bad meaning ofcourse and what sdk16420 said, my stock ICS is not slow for sure but yes i supercharged it and it runs smooth, fine and fast.

HTC Desire C
Check the specs of HTC Desire C this phone comes with ICS
As you'll see below, the catalog also sheds some light on the specs of the device. Here's what we have confirmed for now: The HTC Desire C has a 3.5-inch screen with 320x480 resolution and runs on a 600MHz processor. Connectivity-wise it's 3.5G, whatever that means, but we're guessing it's HSDPA. The handset also has 4GB of internal memory and a 5MP camera. But most importantly, this low-spec'd device will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

If this phone can handle ics then Neo shouldn't have any problems handling ICS whatsoever.
Source
@Tenacius D:it's not questionable can it run, but how good can it run
Neo V can run it, but it runs it so sad and slow, at least in case Sony stock ICS
Actually CPU is not so important in story, RAM's are.
Weaker CPU will get the job done, but (a bit) slower, lesser RAM will get your apps killed in the background.
I would prefer 500Mhz with 1GB ram's, than 1.5Ghz quad core and 512MB ram's but that's just me
Madfysh I agreed with you more ram better multitasking but CM9 and aokp are prof that ics can run better on our phone apps are lighter on memory and hardware is better utilized sony can also do this but they don't wanna waste resource on last year phones.

I have also faced this issue when I installed the official ICS ROM on my NEO. Can anyone suggest a viable solution?
BTW, I have officially unlocked my boot loader now (I hope) and I hope to use some other ROM out there and see their performance.
And, as far as RAM is concerned, I have a Galaxy S and it has only 512 MB RAM and it runs ICS very nicely (stock AOSP).

Sony Xperia Neo L lag

Rooting as such won't help get rid of Lag ! But rooting gives you the gateway to flash custom Roms and get rid of the lag you have no stock Rom!
Take a read of the sticky threads in dev section and general!
Then you can proceed and incase you get stuck up,you can always ask!

Try to install the latest version as it improved the power management... I used SEEDER to reduce lag of my note 2 (actually I just want to make sure it performs the best speed without lag, without using it my phone works fine). :-
For the battery drain issue, I used One Power Guard, which I tested before, it does reduce the power usage (Got a very good result during deep sleep, and daily usage... usually without using it, my battery drains at least 7% after whole night, while using it, my battery only drains about 3% the most!)
TRY AGAIN (IF IT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU I AM SO SORRY...)
MY BEST RECOMMENDATION IS FLASH A CUSTOM ROM (less bloatwares and tweeked for maximum performance) AND CUSTOM KERNEL (better RAM management and other stuffs which will help to improve stability of your phone, including battery saving). DO SOME UNDERVOLTING... IT WILL HELP...

I'm on stock .631, I experienced this too, IMHO seeder doesn't helps on my side still i noticed lags and slowdowns in the phone.
You know what i did? flash a custom Kernel(i had the BL unlocked), the tigris kernel by bootbu9, flash the the latest adreno libs(thank you Saingpor for helping me :highfive: ) and remove bloatwares. Now the phone seems fluid and responsive, no more lags maybe just a little bit but not always the same as before, since i use my phone normally(no games) I just OC at 245min and 1018max with smartassv2 governor and NOOP scheduler. Now my phone operates as i wanted it to be.
I have installed betterbatterystats, system panel, cpu cpy app to monitor the phones power usage. Battery and standby varies, it mainly depends on how the user uses the phone, apps installed on it so for me IMHO there is no such thing as battery saver app(sometimes they only just cause wakelocks on my experience). Just do the basics, manually switch off wifi, BT when not in use, adjust the brightness(i uncheck the adapt to lighting conditions - light sensor), turn on airplane mode if you want to keep your phone away or simply turn the phone off if you really want to save power, Turn off 3g and or background data if its not neccessry, etc. In this way you really can save your phones battery power.

Go for jellybean roms.. You need not flash any drivers, u don't need seeder, u don't need to debloat.. Development for xperia play is very good at this moment.. Our Neo L is similar to play... Plus u have an advantage of themes... These themes ll transform ur phone to any look u desire.. I have used MIUIv5, sense5,motorola UI, Ubuntu UI and many more...

Just a simple question, any other IDEA how to make this general section more dirty? I'm curious :-|
and just in case I call this a forum not a chat room!
so all I can say is thnx for making harder to find something useful in general section for me!

No offence though
PS: and there is already a Q&A section here

i am waiting too
I am Also new to Xperia P but Old to Xperia . I am waiting for JB.. JB will be great on this device (I think. ) In xperia P forum every thing seems to be paused.
Which unofficial rom do you suggest for xperia P. This stock ICS really sucks. I came from htc with cyanogenmod7 and must confess that even that was better than stock ICS. I was waiting for official JB but comparing stock ICS and CM9 (experience only from htc) I do not believe that stock JB will satisfy me.

No, stock ICS don't work on JB.
I use Motorola Camera app (pushed it into system/apps) and works very well. But even the included camera app in v7.1 version goes well, but it's affected by green preview bug.
Motorola camera app don't have this bug.

There are no such mods due to lack of libs for jb... You can try some third party apps or live with it...

But THIS isn't a thread to discuss APPS, THEMES, MOD or TROUBLE SHOOTING for Super Jelly Bean?
Because for now, I read less about it...In my post I wrote mods that I've use, Apps...Camera app that I suggest to use...
I think that It's time to rename this thread in something else...
This forum works well because there are sections: Q&A section it's dedicated to every questions do you have to post. Every. Noob or not.
But, when you write questions about others in a thread "title" to a specific argument, you're going OT.
Sorry my controversy, but at this point I don' t understand the meaning of this thread.
In the first post I would put links to dedicated kernel, optimal configuration, tips about battery safe settings, themes that you used with this rom...mods compatible or personal experience about mod don't indicated as compatible, but that works...
Then, In my opinion this should be the direction.
So, if you want to live up to the title, the next posts should be:
- Version of the SJB ROM Installed
- Kernel version
- Mods installed, or about you want to ask the functioning in this ROM.
- Installed Themes (tested and works)
- Apps recommended or ideals for this ROM.
- Any tips or inquiries about these topics.
What do you think? It's this the sense of this thread?
@DomusX10 agree with you.
Have a question though. Do you think this thread was really needed. Q and A thread for SJB already exist
And there's a dev thread too. And as OP says its the "best" rom. Do you think there is something like best rom or best kernel?
If someone is asking you "walkman for 4.3" and if this is Q and A thread you can simply tell him the answer. And last, theres nothing like discussing abt themes, apps, mods abt rom(s). Op already has the compatible mods list in dev thread. And apps and themes taste vary from person to person. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Yes, I agree that already exist a Q&A...I think that creator of this thread thought to make a thing like that made for slimbean...a kind of container for opinions and advice, directly by users..
In order not to encroach on the main discussion of questions on a specific app or maybe a mod.
But it is not working well and that's why I wrote .. I think as it is useless.
