[Q] Best microSD card!!! - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

What is the best (and compatible) microSD card for the Galaxy S III?
I heard that the Sandisk Extreme Pro had fantastic speeds but I also have been looking at reviews of Sandisk cards and a lot of people aren't seeing the expected speeds. Some people have recommended that Extreme Pro card but according to the compatibility list on Sandisk's website, it's not compatible.
Have any of you tried Samsung cards? I have seen decent reviews with them.
Also does anyone out there know the maximum Bus Speed for the slot?
Any opinions?

I wonder if people are getting actual genuine merchandise. It just seems that too many people are reporting slow speeds.

I think a big reason people report slow speeds is that the bus speed will only allow certain speeds, which is lower then the cards capability.
For example:
Card CAN go these speeds...
24MB/Read
13MB/Write
But the limitations of the phone will only allow these speeds...
14MB/Read
8MB/Write
I'm also really wanting to know what the Galaxy III's limitations are.

All depend on class I always get SanDisk name brand.... I got a class 4 I wanna get a 64GB class ten shockproof & waterproof one but they are like $110 :<

yea that makes more sense

I don't have my SGSIII yet, but the Class 10 32GB card by Samsung absolutely flies compared to the card that came with my Epic. Plus it's supposedly shockproof and waterproof.
Just make sure you get a genuine one by purchasing through a reputatable source. I've heard some of the one's on Amazon and EBay are fakes. Got mine from Frys when it was on sale.

I also have a Class 4 that came with and currently have in my Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G. That is why I'm really wanting an upgrade.
Does anyone know what formats the Galaxy S III will take? SDHC? SDXC? Compatible with UHS-I? Also what Class?
By the way, a fantastic resource for SD cards is...
https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/speed/bus_speed/

I have confirmed with Samsung that the card slot is compatible only up to Class 10 cards.
Anyone have suggestions on the best Class 10 microSD card out there?

Thank by the way.

Type of SD
I am getting conflicting information on how much external memory the MicroSD card accepts and also what type it supports. Can someone tell me what type ie...
MicroSD
MicroSDHC
MicroSDXC
I spoke with samsung support and they only say my I747 only supports upto 32GB of Regular MicroSD and not MicroSDXC.
Thanks.

i believe that the official Samsung specs only list up to 32GB MicroSDHC but MANY people have confirmed the phone can handle 64gb MicroSDXC cards with no problems.

Yeah, I use a 32GB.... Go online at Verizon Wireless >>> Here!!!
It is Legit & The Cheapest you can find
Or buy a 16gb from them, its a stealer also
i also went the newegg route. i picked up a transcend micro sdhc 8gb class 6 and really like it. note that the big differences in price are due to size (gb) and speed (class). class 6 seemed to be a good compromise on speed and value. i'm guessing the 2gb card that came with the phone is class 2.
good luck.

[Q] MicroSD Card 64GB in SGS2

I know Sandisk 64GB will work in SGS2 if one only have the need of space for backup, movies and music (apps to SD will fail).
Lots of info about SanDisk ... couldn't find any about Samsung and Kingston 64GB cards ...
Have anybody tried 64GB MicroSD Card from Samsung or Kingston in SGS2?
Is it same same or do I have to buy SanDisk in order to get it working?
Paracetamol is paracetamol.
Ibuprofen is ibuprofen.
MicroSDXC is microSDXC.

Brand shouldnt make a difference as far as compatibility with device.
Just dont even think about getting a card from ebay though. You will just end up with a fake version that has been modded to display larger then what it is.

[Q] Compatibility SDCARD, SDXC, SDHC.

Hi my name is Jack, and I'm new here in the forum.
I just wondering if my Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) can support 128 Gb Micro SD microSDHC?
Something like this...
128 Gb Micro SD-TF Memory Card Class 10 With Adapter-USA
(Just copy the line and paste on Google to see the price of product)
I have knowledge that there is a SanDisk 128gb microSDXC. But I can not pay that much money ($ 120)
SanDisk 128GB microSDXC Ultra 128G microSD micro SDXC 30MB/s Class 10 UHS-1 Card
(Just copy the line and paste on Google to see the price of product)
Thanks in advance.

Samsung Galaxy S3 supports up to 64gb micro SD card. Moreover, I think 128 gb SD card is way too much for Galaxy S3, just imagine what will happen if you fill all the memory of the card. Thats why I suggest you buy a card with lower space, something like 16gb,32gb or 64gb.

I can not imagine that could happen, but... I already have a 64Gb card (and I have no space in it)
Because of this, I have this doubt.

Lol! I cannot believe it. What do you have in this card, how did you fill the entire 64 gb space?
64GB aint that much if you video record and have a lot of music files.
was wondering if there is a difference between Samsung and SanDisk cards in terms of working well with the S3. I have the samsung 64gb Class 10 UHS-1. Is there anything i should be aware of, stability, format etc.
Thanks

Sandisk Extreme Pro G4GB UHS-1 class 3 too slow to be formatted as internal

As title say, my Moto Z is reporting that Sandisk Extreme Pro G4GB UHS-1 Class 3 95MB/s is too slow to be formatted as internal storage.. and I couldn't find a faster card on market (that is not UHS-II or UHS-III which are kind of usless on phones). Never had that message with HTC 10.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot,
V
I once contacted Motorola and they told me that the phone doesn't support UHS-I class 3 cards. So it maybe is a compatibility error rather than a card not sufficient error.

huh, damn.. thanks for the reply anyway
I myself thought about upgrading my sd-card but pretty much every company does nowhere mention the exact speed specifitions for their phones. With the Moto Z I could only find UHS-I, so I contacted Motorola Online Chat and after asking a colleague they told me that UHS-I class 3 isn't supported.

OnePlus X 128gb sdcard

I want to buy a 128gb microsd card. I was looking for the below option Samsung EVO Plus 128GB (UHS Class 1). Can anybody tell me whether this will work?
Code:

One more ques. There is UHS Class 3 memory card from the same Samsung Evo Plus. It happens to be the 2017 model. Can anyone tell me whether this gonna work on OPX?
If anyone likes to tell me some other memory card, do let me know.

Yes & Yes.
I have a SanDisk Ultra 128Gb (UHS-I) and it works, so i guess any 128gb sd card will do just fine.
Yes, I use the 2016 model UHS-1 and it works. If the price difference is minimal, go with the newer one.
