Side loader wonder machine and the s3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tried to use the side loader wonder machine on their s3? I used it with a captivate a while back just fine, but my new s3 it will not see the device, loaded the drivers from samsung and all that, put to debugging, but still no go. If this will not work , what is the easiest way to load up apks that I have on my PC?

[Q] Return to stock Non-Odin

I have been perusing these forums for weeks, trying to discover a way to return to stock or at least get my root access recognized (no longer have su in system/bin). For quite some time I have been unable to get my laptop to recognize my fascinate/USB (after dozens of reinstalls drivers etc). It may be the computer, or phone, or both. At this point, I want to just get it back to stock, so I can send it back to Verizon since I am one of those people with the weird call issues. But I digress..
If I boot into recovery (via 3 finger salute) is there any file that I can use to start the process towards regaining my root access or going back to a stock ROM. My permissions are all screwy, and at this point I am terrified to do anything, since ODIN is out of the question.
Thanks before hand.
Firmware - 2.2.1
Baseband -S:i500.04 V.DL09
Kernel - 2.6.32.9

Do you have a custom recovery installed, or just the stock Samsung version? If ODIN is a no-go and you have the stock Samsung recovery in place, I'm not sure how much you can do here. Any chance of trying another computer to see if ODIN will work? In order to do what you want, ODIN, heimdall, or a non-OEM recovery is going to be required.
Does the phone at least go into Download mode if you pull the battery, hold VOL DOWN, and plug in the USB cable? If you can get that far, I think it's pretty likely that a different PC or perhaps even a different USB cable would be able to get you working with ODIN.
I have an eBay Fascinate I use for development with a broken USB port, and it's hella hard to get the thing working once it's been powered off. In that device's case, it *always* thinks a USB cable is connected, making a lot of things difficult to accomplish. To resurrect it with ODIN, I had to get it into Download mode using a wall plug adapter first (PC wouldn't work) with the battery IN, then move it over to the PC quickly and ODIN recognized it. It took more than one try to make this happen .. way more than one try ... but in the end I was victorious and it's been working great ever since. Moral: maybe try some other ways of getting it into Download mode and see if with luck the PC will recognize it long enough so you can flash it.
I suppose if push came to shove you could run the thing over
Have you downloaded your Samsung USB drivers as an Administrator on your computer? Also, there are some different methods for getting these drivers to work. One of which I had to use was going through PDANet. It just installs them differently and somehow they may work over the traditional installation.

Is there a way to get USB tethering w.o drivers?

I was wondering if there is way to get the USB tether to work with out downloading divers? The PC I use at times during any allow anything to be loaded onto it therefore the drivers won't load... I'm running a samsung galaxy nexus.

restore to stock problems

I bought this Note 2 about a month ago and got unlocked and rooted pretty easy... So I'm Currently on liquid smooth v2.3 4.2.2 vrall4. I was attempting to flash back to stock but each time I connect phone to computer in download I get no "ID:COM" number showing connectivity with the device. My first smartphone was original Samsung Galaxy so I'm slightly familiar with this flash back to stock, too bad there is no one click recovery restore tool but anyways. I'm not sure what I did but I believe I have accidentally deleted a wrong folder. Phone still works perfectly except that it doesn't seem to want to flash ROMs from the Original Android Dev section of this phone's forum... such as Paranoid's 3.5x.
also it will not connect to computer as media device...only as camera. phone notifies me it is connecting as media device, but it does not appear in my computer. it won't even allow me to put zips on the internal storage.

I've noticed this problem also after the update. C3 seems to be the culprit. Flash back to a stock rooted 4.1.1 rom and set radios back. Install Kies (again) and then you can keep or uinstall kies. This worked for me. The 4.1.2 update for some reason will not play nice with the drivers. Will only let me connect as camera on both windows and Ubuntu 13.04. Thats what led me to down grade and try again.
Also, it seemed that my phone got "stuck" in PTP for some reason after all that. Once i got it to work again. I was able to connect back to Ubuntu 13.04 in MTP mode using a new 4.1.2 rom. (this for those trying to figure out how to get MTP to work on Linux boxes after update. Use a computer to set phone back to MTP, and Linux will recognize it again.) If windows jogs the phone to PTP, for some reason it will not go back until you fix that on windows. Not a science, just what i've experienced in the last 2 weeks.

Sounds to me that your drivers arent installed. Youll need to update your drivers on your computer. That is what I do if odin is not seeing my device.

Locked HTC One Stuck in Bootloader

I was working on restoring my HTC one to stock since my SIM slot happened to break. In the process I must have messed something up and I can no longer get into any version of android, I am stuck at the bootloader screen.
My thinking is that if I run the RUU I will be able to kick myself out of this and have a functioning device, my problem is that I can't get windows 8 to identify my phone in fastboot to run the RUU.
Has anyone had any luck with wine on OS X or is there another way I can flash a firmware to my phone?

VMWare or Virtualbox works far better on OSX and I'd trust that vs Wine any day of the week. Got an old windows xp disc laying around?
I don't think XP would work since I have USB 3 drives on the MBP, but if it would thats an easy fix. I think I can find one laying around my house.

ADB to recover images when screen broken.

Ill start with a thanks for the time, I have posted to the assist forum but not had any luck there. Hopefully one of you lovely bunch will be able to assist!
Run down:
Samsung GT i9300 Galaxy S III
Vodafone (Not certain)
No Root
No USB debugging
No screen
Need the images from internal memory.
I have a Samsung GT-i9300 Galaxy S III with a faulty screen. When I boot the phone all I get is what looks like frozen static with the odd spot of random colour, no boot sounds, I've left it for a few minutes and tried tapping around but get no feedback or sounds.
the device is not rooted, I cant imagine USB debugging is enabled as the previous user barley knew how to turn on mobile data....
what I want is the images from the devices internal memory before I flash the thing.
Now without debugging enabled, from what I've found out so far, I need to use ADB, I've looked around on line but cant find anything that doesn't assume I have some existing knowledge. I am by no means a completely useless with this stuff, but I haven't really gone further than installing custom ROMs.
Can anyone point me to a noob friendly guide or some step by step guide for this?
If usb debugging isn't on you cant use adb.
Connect it to a pc via usb and if it recognises as a mass storage you can copy data. If not then you are stuck.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
