[Q] delayed home button - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I updated my AT&T Galaxy S II I-777 last night and everything seems to be working great except for a delay in haptic feedback and general action when pressing the Home button. Anybody else having this issue with the new update, or have any idea why this may be? Possible fixes? Thanks.

You have not really provided enough info for people to help you.
You need to provide:
What ROM are you loading.
How you loaded it.
What Version.
etc.
Also I would suggest searching the forums and putting this in the proper thread
for the ROM you are loading (you will get much better help that way).

But dude she said....she updated her sgs2 last night....so wouldnt u assume she meant the new upgrade? And as far as haptic feedback home, yes there is a slight delay.

I'm a dude. I updated from stock 2.3.6 to stock 4.0.3 via Kies, manually by clicking (tools), (update and restore firware) entering the model number and the serial number putting g the phone in download mode and updating. Every other button is immediately responsive like they all were before the update. Only the home button takes about a half second to respond and to feel the haptic feedback.

Quickly double press home button. Does it open voice assistant or something? If yes, it has the same problem as 2.3.4 stock rom.

Thank you for the further info.
I am not experiencing what you describe, but I also
updated via the standard update method in Kies.
My phone is a bit snappier over all. The only real item that is slower is the
transition from the home screen to the applications menu and back again.
I'd like to invite you over to This thread, a few of us are running it and someone there may have a better answer.

I also used the standard method of Kies coming from rooted KH7 and process went fine...I am using Apex launcher for more of an ICS look and when disabling the "fly-in" animation the home button response is instant.

Decreased touchscreen sensitivty of certain buttons after rooting! Normal?

Hi guys,
I finally installed Windows 7 bootcamp on my Mac, and went away on flashing kernel to XWKDD_insecure.tar, and rooting the S2 with S2 Root app. Everything went smoothly, and I now have TB Pro with a couple of apps frozen.
However, one very noticeable change after I flash and rooted was that my Applications button is very hard to activate. I thought I had imagined it, but when I unlock via Widgetlocker slider, and tap the Applications icon on the bottom right, nothing happens with the normal pressure I am used it. To activate it, I must push down with a little force for a second or two, let go, and it will go to the application folder. Also, I have also notice that when I wake the phone, the unlock widgetlocker slider is slightly unresponsive at first, I must also apply more force, hold it for a second, and slide for the slider to work. Before I rooted (6 hours ago), I can lightly tap the application icon, or light slide the unlock slider, and it would work.
Another weird thing is also buttons on the screen works fine thus far.
Anyone have this rather weird problem? I am slightly regretting rooting the phone, because the applications icon just wouldn't budge despite multiple taps... I've tried battery pulls, etc, but the problem persists, especially right after I unlock the phone.
Any input is much appreciated!
Thank you
Did you found a solution? I have the same problem, but I don't know if it's because rooting? This is really annoying.
Same here after CF-root.
and let me add that the return touch key (below the applications icon) isn't so responsive as before rooting!
I thought I was just imagining but I am "glad" you guys having the same problem.
Looking forward for a solution.
Maybe asking Chainfire ?
Well I just installed a stock rom, same thing.
My 'back' button is very un-responsive as well. it's like I really have to hit the spot for it to react.
Am having the same issue with the back key and i am still stock non rooted

This is certainly not the first time I've heard about such complaints, infact a few friends also had this issue as well they had their phones replaced.

CM7 problems...

Okay here are my phone's specs:
Model number - SGH-T959
Android version - 2.3.5
Baseband version - T959UVKA7
Kernel version - 2.6.35.12-ge334261 [email protected] #1
Mod version - CyanogenMod-7-08252011-NIGHTLY-Vibrant
Build number - GRJ90

Here's when the problem started then I'll explain it.
I was trying to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751031
But when I did it said something about CM 3.0 doesn't support a certain kind of script so it aborted.
My problems:
When I turn on my phone it says that the Wi-Fi calling has stopped
I had it set so my phone would vibrate when I press the home bar buttons.
Every time I try to run the Wi-Fi calling ,it stops.
I have it set so when ever I press a button on the on-screen keyboard it should vibrate but it doesn't.
Thanks in advance.
If you need logs then I can get them, just need to tell me where they are.
EDIT - Also, the LEDs on my phone never blink, not when I have an email or text message, nor when I charge my phone. Is this just a limitation with CM7? Or how do I fix it?
Also, I realize that CM7 drains batteries pretty quickly, if you have a suggestion for an easy to install ROM/Kernel that is great at saving batteries, but keeps ADW, and most of the customization options available in CM7, do share.
Thanks again.
Also it seems that my phone is stuck charging at 57%
It's been there for a few hours now.
UPDATE -
I have it now so that the phone vibrates when I press a button with the on screen keyboard
It is charging past 57%
The home bar buttons still do not vibrate even though I have it set so they do.
UPDATE -
The video recording is very choppy. I took a video yesterday and it wasn't this choppy.
Umm so I'm guessing, nobody can help me?

[Q] Home button slow response

Two days ago I updated from stock gingerbread 2.3.6 to stock ICS 4.0.3 via Samsung kies. The update wouldn't show up after plugging the gs2 in so I did the manual method by navigating to 'tools', 'update firmware...', and entering the serial number and model number, putting the phone in download mode and proceeding with the update. It went fairly smooth and I like some of the new features but the home button is noticeably slower to respond to touch. The 'menu', 'back', and 'search' buttons are all immediately responsive, including the haptic feedback. The haptic feedback on the 'home' button is annoyingly slow to respond. Everything else with this update seems to be in order but this home button issue is very annoying. I turned off vibration which makes it more bearable but I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue or knows a possible fix for this. Thanks for your time.

My best suggest would be, root that SOB and install a custom rom. Not many people will probably be able to help you on here (being xda and everyone most likely running custom stuff). If you like the stock, I suggest checking out rooted versions of the latest ICS release. Good luck, wish i could help you better

Phone application behaves strange....

Hi guys,
i been having this very annoying problem with my GS3 LTE (9305) but when i compare to other GSIII's it seems only mine behave like this but i cant find any reason or any option for the cause.
Basically the problem is that when i call someone and the phone screen goes to off sometime i want to wake up the screen and press the button below the screen and what my phone does is to minimize the call application but on my friends phone the call application stays and only the screen is turned on.
Can you guys please help me finding the root cause to why my call application minimizes itself when the screen is off?
I been searching for every option there is and cant find anything useful, also i have never installed any other dialer application or anything like that.
Please help me this is getting me nuts.

I meant Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean roms... Jkays framework fixes this issue.
If i recall correctly it has something to do with a setting in s-voice I think. Also it happens with any application when the screen turns off.

Yes, this issue isn't unique to the dialler. If you let the screen timeout with any application then press the home key, it returns to the home screen.
The workaround is to make sure than in the S-Voice settings, you have "Open via the home key" option set. After this, a single home key press will wake the device without returning to the home screen.

Sadly that didnt work either. I had actually S Voice disabled but enabled and did what you said but it still minimizes the call application
EDIT: very strange , tested calling 4-5 times and suddenly after my friend called me it started working. I called my other cell before and it works fine now. THANK ALLOT MAN.
EDIT2: funny i tried to disable S-Vice again and to my surprise it stil works.

[Q] Phone locks up probably need an expert

Ok I have a galaxy note i717. I have 2 problems that are absolutely horrible. One problem is if I recieve a phone call and have certain apps or games either open or were just open, my phone freezes. When I say freeze I mean all I hear is my ringtone, I have no way to answer, and my phone is a paper weight till I power cycle it, once I turn it back on I see no missed calls, and have no idea who called me. The other is I slide to unlock my phone and it is extreemely slow, I press a button and wait an average of about 3-5 seconds before it opens, and every button I push is just as slow, this problem seems random, but I think it has something to do with the other problem. I am right now running black jelly, it is not the rom as all the Jelly Bean Roms have this problem. One solution posted is to revert it to stock ics then have Samsung do the upgrade to Jelly Bean, then reroot it, same problem and did not change. I really want to get a good Jelly Bean rom that works for my i717. I can get any ICS Custom Rom to work correctly, so I will revert it just to get normal functionality, if no one knows how to fix this. This is the last thing I am going to try before reverting back to ICS. Any help is appreciated.

I am not an expert but I would suggest Downgrade to the Stock Rom 2.3.6 and then start from that process.

I may try that, ICS works fine, normally I just try it from there, may try from Gingerbread.

That made it much better I removed my screen saver, and also turned power saver mode off. After I changed that setting the phone worked correctly most of the time. It still runs slow sometimes, but I just turned power saving mode off, so we will see, thanks for the help, the ripple screen lock was doing something bad as it got much better when I removed it.
I tested my phone for a few days, it seems the phone call thing is fixed, thanks for the info about the ripple screen saver. Only problem I currently have is if I forget and leave my game running on a certain screen that is animated and it screen locks, when I unlock and start using the phone it is extreemely slow. A simple restart fixes it, and I am fine with that as my phone actually works correctly most of the time. I was researching the problem and the GPU settings may be the answer, but I have no idea what settings need to be set. One setting is Force GPU rendering ( use 2d hardware acceseration in applications) currently it is turned on. Was thinking also kill all background processes, I really don't know, Anyone out there an expert with GPU or how to finish tweeking my phone.
