So i was wondering if it is possible with a stock sense 4 rom (im on flex's stock with goods rom) i already installed a stock messaging app and froze the htc one with TB...so my main question is can the same be done with something like the Dialer app which is one i particularly want
please and thanks
also if it is possible can i get a link to the apk :fingers-crossed:
I know of someone who tried the phone.apk, but got constant FC. But, if you installed the contacts.apk with it, maybe. I know some other stuff works, like browser and keyboard (LatinIME.apk).
I downloaded CM9 to pull stuff from there (just until it gets a little more stable, then bye bye sense).

thanks for the info yeah i think im just gonna wait until the stability and function on cm9 increases and not bother with trying to use the contacts and dialer apks on sense
Oh, and the aosp clock works, too. Which you'll wanna use if you disable the HTC lockscreen (which will give you aosp ICS lockscreen :thumbup

All I want to do is modify the framework to give me the percent battery and also change the notifications. Can I use the framework on the stock Rom to change that since I'm rooted or do I have to have a different Rom that's modified?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Try the question and answer section please!
Yes you can, just do a backup before you attempt the changes and backup the original Framework-res.apk somewhere.
By back up some may wanna say nandroid or nand but we are NOT running Amon Ra anymore so lets drop the Nand..... Its kind of a slap in the face to the folks at Clockwork. And who let us root???????
THANKS CWM TEAM!
Sorry normally would have put it in there but figured it would be better in the development forum...mods feel free to move since it would be better in there

I honestly think a sticky at the top of each forum for questions would make things easier for everyone to find and help the lazy. But the one in the development section was closed and they refereed everyone to Q and A. I wasnt trying to be rude. And I dont mind helping, its just hard to find apps and themes amongst all the questions.
Ya I usually don't post easy questions like this but I tried to find somewhere that talked about the stock Rom and framework but didn't find much. Love the Rom since it was the same Rom I used on my G2 but it was Evils custom rom. Hard to go back to stock when your used to modifying your own images lol
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I hear that, its no fun if its not custom.
Did you see my thread on changing the android on the usb connect screen? Its also done through the framework. I would post link but I'm mobile. :/
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Nope haven't looked into it right now, since I just switched from the G2 I was going to read up on everything before but it seems like most of the G2 stuff is almost the same as the myTouch 4G so I'll be able to just go to town lol. If I do anything new I'll definitely add it to the pot once I get something good

You can't actually change the notifications pane with that, but there are notification icons and the percentage battery changes there. I just use the silver circle one and left the rest stock, nice b&w feel to it.
More complex changes require a deodexed ROM like IG, CM6/7, eViL's MIUI, etc.
Is there a stock rom that's been deodexed? That's all I'm looking for right now but I'm not finding anything

Im told that Iced Glacier is pretty much a faster version of the stock rom. (I havent tried it myself)
However if you are just trying to change the Icons in the status bar you dont need to be deodexed to use the mods in the link previously mentioned. Im running stock rom with one of those mods myself currently
Ya I was able to change the notification icons, signal, battery...only thing I couldn't do without having FC issues was change the battery into a percent. Even with those mods on the link I was getting FC issues
Hey all, running Cleanrom ICS, after running a senseless rom I'm sort of hooked on the ICS stock messaging app. If I was to install it would it just work, or do I need to find someone who'd compile it with the Sense framework?
try and install it and see.. if it doesnt work then more things need to be done or its not possible( but i think it is )

Darn, sorry then
Yeah, I had seen that app, but it also has adverts in it. and I'm honestly unsure how to pack the stock ICS messenger into an APK. :/
bump.
Anyone know what I need to do to get the messaging APK?
im running the asop messaging app on joelz bamf 0.7 just fine but you can't use the sense messaging app at the same time so with root explorer I renamed the sense mms.apk to mms.bak in case i wanted to revert back to it then pasted the aosp messaging apk into the system app folder and installed from there and it works fine and loads contact photos it just doesn't intergrate with the sense lockscreen.
Hi i would like to know if I can replace touchwiz stock dialer and contacts apk with the one in the AOKP ICS, I was trying both and found out that in the contacts app in touchwiz there are low res contact pictures and on the AOKP no, I liked in overall the toucwiz ics more than google stock.
Can I just replace both contacts.apk and phone.apk with the ones on AOKP using root explorer?
nevermind I found out that they are different frameworks, I do really like almost everything about samsung ics rom, wish I could change that contact and phone apk.
You can use a different dialer from the market probably.
I am going to look for alternatives, cause 2 apps in my dock for calls isn't what I want.
go contacts ex works just great.
Get ex dialer and the pics theme. That's what I'm using with phone bricker and its a perfect fit.
thanks man. I had spent quite a bit of time trying to find out how to get the dialer to work after flashing inverted gapps.
I'm waiting to check out v2 of this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552852
It says in the changelog he already ported AOKP system apps incl. Contacts and Phone, but in the thread he says he needs to fix some things and it will actually be for v.2.
Id like to know the answer to thus as well

Trebuchet launcher works great on TW ROMs, so if we could import AOSP Phone, MMS, and Contacts, it would be perfect. Calendar works as does the camera apk, so those aren't necessary to modify or anything. I've tried for hours to get the other apps working but to no avail. If I find some way to get them working, I'll let you guys know, but I'm happy with CM9 and AOKP at the moment. I might make a nandroid backup and try again tonight, though.
exdialer with ics theme works pretty well
Its not the same i wasn't impressed with exdialer

Why don't u just rip them out of the rom that you're using and push them to /system?

I tried that (used TB to extract it from a Nandroid back up), but i continued to get the same error.
I finally bit the bullet and did an advanced Nandroid restore and just restored the "system"
That worked.
Also decided to try the EX dialer. Love the interface. Much nicer than the stock LPG one! Faster to get the job done.
Did u push them to /system, set permissions, then reboot?

Honestly, i didn't have time to mess with it, i needed a working phone, so just restored the SYSTEM from the Nandroid backup.
Thx again! I'll know fire next time i mess something up...
I've flashed around a bit with different roms and as much as I enjoy touchwiz, I love the stock mms app that comes in AOKP/ vanilla android ICS and was just wondering if anyone had made any type of universal port for touchwiz roms that work just as smoothly? Saw a couple on the play store but they were total rubbish and full of bugs. gonna stay on AOKP in the meantime. Just curious if anyone else shared the thought

I did see that but I read the actual ability to receive and download MMS is broken in it. And I'm not knocking the Samsung mms, I just personally prefer the overall UI and feel of the stock 4.0 one. Sammys is great though.

That's the problem. Even if you get a compatible full asop mms, you have to keep the default samsung app. If you delete it, it will cause problems and FCs.

Thank you phalanx, I hadn't realized serendipity incorporated aosp apps into touchwiz. That does further spark my curiosity as to if It's possible to pull the AOSP mms app as a stand alone apk that I could keep and install no matter what ROM I switch to since serendipity makes it seem possible if I just disable the stock mms app.

you could theme the Samsung mms.apk to look like the AOSP mms.apk if nothing else, if all you're looking for is the aesthetics of the AOSP mms.apk

How do you do this? I'm the same way as jrod. Love what TouchWiz offers aside from the messaging app. Favour the look of stock ICS one instead. (Because I like the pictures inside the message thread)

Simple way would be to change your pngs in your drawable-hdpi folder and change some xmls as well, not really all that difficult once you get started
Edit: sorry, completely forgot that Samsung's has text bubbles, so it would get a little trickier, I'll look into it
Edit: So, I've been real busy with school and stuff, so I haven't been able to look at the apk. Also, I don't have a Samsung Mms.apk since I like the AOSP feel of ICS better and have been on AOKP since it came out. So in trying to find a Samsung Mms.apk in our dev threads, I found that Serendipity 9 has an AOSP Mms.apk in it and is TW-based. It also has a lot of other AOSP apks in it, and it looks nice and runs pretty well. (flashed it to see everything first-hand). That might be an answer

Hello all! I am currently running CMX with a TouchWiz 5 theme. I installed the TouchWiz Launcher port along with a few different zips I have found across xda. My phone has most TW widgets, sounds and stock apps. I feel a lot of people would love to run this ROM. I have no idea how but is there a way for me to generate a zip of my setup so that others could enjoy it?
What do you guys think?

Anyone that is interested or knows how to get the ball rolling please point me in the right direction. I am extremely happy with this set-up. Forgot to mention it even is running the SGS3 Camera Port as well. It's heavily themed.
please
I would love to contribute to the community. Just need to be pointed in the right direction. Similar to SVN?
The one thing I'd love to have on my ROM is the TouchWiz lock screen. My sisters both have SGII's and I love how you can flick away the lock screen

You can use this to make an update zip. Just put the apks in their respective places. The theme would probably be in data and the launcher in system.
The only issue I see is if this is the TouchWiz 5 theme you speak of it can't be included because it's a paid app.
Like the setup, i have been looking for something like this a little while.
Can you post how you did it in the meantime

I found another update zip creator that is more generic and less device specific than D4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248486
Here's a guide that explains an easier way to mount system and data by using busybox instead of finding the mount points.

Edit: This thread will help you find mount points if you need too..

Edit2: ^^ I agree. Can you post what you used for everything? Where did you get the launcher, the widgets, the sounds, the stock apps, the theme, and maybe the wallpaper/s?
Anything new on this?

I wrote a couple of devs seeking help. I am a full time student and I work full time as well. I thought about releasing a HOW to guide. I have not given up.
Pimp my ROM seems to have the full tw launcher and some widgets. Cannot confirm if all are there. You can then get a tw theme from market and you should be set. I am on decks 10-10 build (4.1.2) and the theme is not working but launcher is
