I swear, people will believe everything they hear nowadays.

In that case (not wanting to sound ungrateful of the devs) why aren't we seeing ics even in alpha? Many other devices, including ones not getting official, have some sort of port.

I realise that. My reason for putting it up here is I think the software on the new device will give us a head start in bringing it to our devices. Such has happened in the past.
Nexus s brought 2.3 to galaxy s before official release for example.
I think it will be a while yet until we see an official release.

Pretty sure it has to do with needing the source code for Tegra 2 drivers.
Most of the threads I've looked at for ICS ports, seem to amount to ICS AOSP using CM7 sources to fix crap or it boots but peace be with you if it's as functional as your toaster. But I will admit, I've only checked a few devices (of interest to me).

indeed. The port for my phone (desire z) is a port of a port (desire s). Not sure if that is ported from cm or what. Kernel is certainly based from cm though.

You wanna see a mess, go and read about the guys that waited for the 3.1 honeycomb for their Logitech Revue.
When I saw what a mess it made once you d/led it and you CANNOT reverse, I immeditaley unplugged the ethernet and sold the thing on Ebay while it was still working with 2.1
I am glad we have Asus as our manufacture, and I can wait.
I don't think the Prime will be coming with ICS on it anyways at release. Isn't it releasing with Honeycomb?

The Nexus S port is working pretty well. Only a couple little bugs but mostly everything critical to a smart phone is working.

Why waste your time trying to half-ass a port when Asus has always been awesome at providing updates and has already said ICS would be out before the end of the year?
Time is better spent porting ICS to devices that won't be getting it officially. In fact my Transformer runs so well right now, I'm leery of even thinking of upgrading to a new OS version (bugs). Honestly, throw an ICS theme on there and call it a day.
How about a positive thread with no flames please
I can not wait for custom roms once we get a boot unlocker tool. All my Android devices are running some sort of custom rom that makes the system so much more smoother and optimized. To many companies these days are adding to much bloatware and tracking that just slows everything down.
I love my Prime and i cant imagine how much better it will get. With a great developer (or team) im sure they can add features that we all wish for everyday.

I have been running scotts rom for a while, but I just shattered my screen on my E3D yesterday. When I receive my new one tomorrow I will try out his rom. I am hoping that it doesn't come with the Hboot 1.5, I declined it being activated on arrival to help alleviate it. I am on it right now and it sucks to flash stuff. I hate being tethered to a PC to do anything.
I think the Prime has a lot of potential. I actually own a Xoom and a Prime and the xoom sometimes is much smoother than the prime because it's running a custom rom and kernel (overclocke to 1.5ghz) and still has great battery. I think the devs could fix all the transformer prime bugs very easy

I don't think this question has been asked on this forum. I searched and found nothing. Anyway, what is the best ROM?
Or do you guys prefer stock eek? By the way, once you unlock the Bootloader, is it possible to re-lock it? And can we "un-root"?
there is no re-locking. once you unlock there is no going back warranty voided. as far as what's the best rom, its way too early to say. you have to try them out yourself to form opinion on it. I will say that Virtuous Rom n Icylicious Rom has been getting great feedback.
Agreed there isnt to much development on the prime as of yet, but hoping it will come. As of now those two roms are mostly stock with a few visual mods at this point. Im really not up to try the CM9 as I have that on my phones, I like to have my tablet a bit different. I would love to see a rom like Roach2010 or Jcarrz1, even Mike1986 has put together on the original tf101, really enjoyed those alot.!!!
Nothing super impressive yet. But I'm pretty excited about the CNA guys...

I think the ROM's are just basically a lil tweaked right now and more visual customization. Once the kernel is basically truly optimized, then we will have some bad-azz ROM's. At that point I will start the whole flashing of ROM's. I am holding out for a few more weeks to unlock my bootloader.

2. It probably won't be posted on XDA because developers are starting to revolt (XDA apparently has jumped the shark according to the developer community).
3. Expect this thread to be closed because Hitler doesn't want people sympathizing with the Jews.
4. I stand firm with developers. If anything, the recent events with ROM developers makes me want to donate MORE and MORE to them because of how crappy they are treated. Police officers are allows to speed to chase down speeders. ROM developers should be exempt from 95% of all rules plain and simple because they run the show. This site wouldn't exist without them. I bow down to them. All respect.

Having just had a look at the Gummy source I can see what the issue is. They are using the cm9 tf201 device tree. When I tried this whilst compiling AOKP I also ended up with no wifi.
Cyanogenmod team have added a commit that uses the aosp Broadcom wifi module and this seems to be the issue. Reverting that commit and using the wifi module that was being used previously should resolve the issue until it is worked out fully.
Just incase anyone else wanted to have a go at building the source themselves, which I might just do in a moment or two.
Gummy prime is uploading tonight big update across all supported platforms tonight and prime is included
So I'm sure we are all going to be wondering about this.
CyanogenMod made the announcement today that if they will begin working on CM10 as soon as they get official source for it. If your device has a CM9 then it will be getting CM10. Good news for us since we have CM9.
Team Kang announced that they will be releasing M6 this weekend after that they will not be working on ICS releases anymore and will take a short break then begin with JB.
Rollout of these ROMS should be quick because they don't have to restart they just have to merge stuff into the ICS builds.
Just giving you all a heads up.

Just a correction regarding AOKP, the post Roman made on G+ indicates that they are going to start fresh on JB as they suspect there will be issues merging changes into existing ICS base. That said the turn around should be a fair bit quicker with JB as most customizations should still work.

The reason that we run TWRP instead of clockwork is that there's a bad version of clockwork mod touch that causes "Brick 1a" in the sticky that's labeled something like How To Unbrick Your Prime. The most similar version of the regular clockwork mod may also have this problem but most of the one's I've fixed remotely for people were using clockwork mod touch.
Although it's labeled brick 1a, in my opinion it's not a brick. But since you can't boot to the rom people freak out. What happens is when you boot to recovery and then try to reboot system, the device reboots to recovery again. No matter what you do from the on the device just loops from Asus Eee Pad screen to recovery.
Fixing it just requires running a command in ADB on your computer. Newer repackaged versions of clockwork have been done by some really nice guys here on XDA which are supposed to have that bug in the software fixed. Because this was such a prevalent issue a lot of developers write their stuff to work great with TWRP because it hasn't ever had this problem.
It's one of those weird things where some people have clockwork installed and don't have problems and others have lots of problems with what seems like the very same software combination. I actually bought my prime really cheap because the owner was running clockwork mod and had the brick 1a happen and he couldn't fix it. Once I received it, in an hour or two I had gotten a good ADB connection and ran the command and was good to go. I thought maybe it was a fluke and tried to continue with clockwork mod and had the same thing happen again, so finally I switched over to TWRP recovery and it was a great decision, I haven't looked back since.
