[Q]Kitchen SIII/S3 ROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am trying to use dsixda's kitchen (v196).
It cannot process the tar of the ROM itself.
I have to extract the contents of the tar and use those bin files as the "Original Update".
In that case it progresses quite a bit.
I managed to deodex overcoming some errors that others have found as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27758343
But the final thing is missing zImage and modem.bin and who knows what else.
Is there a fix to allow the kitchen to use the tar itself?
Or anybody know what to do in addition to the above?
Thanks

I just flashed the community Rom and CWM ver3.
CWM3 does not support amend scripts. I would like to install Nuance-Froyo (an add on for SC 2.92).
I have extracted it annd attempted to install that way but no luck.
Could anyone advise me on how to install it??
Thanks in advance,

I haven't tested the zip. But I have one available in evil fascination rom that you can download and flash in cwm.

I will give this a try and see what happens.
Just tested flashing over ComRom 1.2 and this works like a charm. Thanks for the tip.

This is themes and apps bro. His post was more of an app request which is more than appropriate for this section. Notice that this isn't "Themes and Apps Development."
Personally I think nuance blows. I use the aosp Voice Dialer app for bt headset hands free. You can grab it from jt's cm 6.2 and push it to system/app. Vlingo also does the job rather well.

If you go by the forum rules, all questions should be directed towards Q&A. If your post can have a properly attached question mark at the end of it's title, chances are, guess what that makes it?

Exactly my point.
There is a system and rule in place for a reason. I have reported the post so it can be moved to its correct forum.
(ends wrong forum bashing )
Like I said in my earlier post, I think there are better alternatives to Nuance. But if you really want it, I repacked it with an edify script. Untested, let me know if it works.

What stock files. If you're talking about firmware then they are all in or linked droidstyles guide stickied in the development section.

dsixda's Android kitchen 0.224 Standalone for Windows (Cygwin included)

I would like to add this as a reply of the thread but the thread is already closed, MODS please help to merge if it needed
dsixda's Android kitchen original xda thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
I have merged Cygwin with the kitchen so you don't have do that complicated Cygwin installation anymore. However, you still need Java JDK installed on your computer at first, please refer the original thread.
Here is the download link Download and unzip it then run runme.bat and you are good to go :good:
Hey thx for the information :good: i wanna ask you how to unpack boot.img with this software? Thx

You sir, are a lifesaver.
I've been dealing with that horrible cygwin installer for 3 days and still got nothing due to the unreliable speed of internet connection in here, Indonesia.
Don't want to derail the thread and awesome work by the op. There is a kitchen that works fine in windows with no need for linux what so ever. I won't link it out of respect for the op but if you search xda you'll find it

There are 2 kitchens you can use in windows one is a merge of cygwin and dsixda so it's just a one install the other is ricki kitchen. Personaly I'd create a live linux USB stick and run linux from there if you don't want to install linux

Thanks for your response. Between the two window ones, do you know anyone of them have been updates for the 64 SoC CpU?
Helped me a lot. :good:

I mean, will these be made the same way as Gapps?
Installed to system so they cannot be uninstalled?

Yes
How can I create the proper folder names for each app? Android creates special names, like "com.buak.Link2SD-1" to add other data. When app updates, it automatically creates a folder and the name of the apk turns to "base.apk".
Thanks!

I managed to find an update-binary and updater-script that worked with this tool to facilitate flashing zips on my LG G3 (D850).
No question, I'm just a new user and couldn't answer directly to the thread.

Extract the folder, then open the javascript .jar launcher which should be in your downloads directory.

Update-binary is not a .zip. It is extensionless.
Thanks. How should i import it then? The beta only recognizes zip files.
About V3.0, I can't use it, Compared to the second edition,I think v2 is easy to use, suggest to make a tutorial.
